Don't call me Shirley
Andros Townsend means well but, when I read his comments, I was like WTF
So many extremes.
So many extremes.
I'm really sorry to hear that. As a father myself the pain of losing your child is simply unimaginable. I am glad you have managed to find the strength and be there for your other children and grandchildren.Well said. I didn't know he had lost a friend to suicide. I lost my only son at 19 through suicide.( breakup with girlfriend). Some of his friends also took it badly.
Thank you very much, sir.I'm really sorry to hear that. As a father myself the pain of losing your child is simply unimaginable. I am glad you have managed to find the strength and be there for your other children and grandchildren.

Aye fair enough, didn’t know he’d lost a friend to suicide.Which made him public enemy no.1 for a few days after all the rags dished out on him. If you remember, he deactivated his twitter and Instagram for a few days. It clearly affected him. Now, he has lost the life of a close friend (as above in the Instagram post which he liked).
Maybe he does need psychiatry. Maybe he doesn’t. I don’t think any of us are qualified to speak on that — but the one thing that is clear is that Greenwood is dealing with a bit more than just “banging some birds”.
Yeah it was the man city player who killed himself. Greenwood put a post on his Instagram about it. Makes sense he would be excused from playing, he is after all very young.Apparently he recently lost a friend to suicide.

Gary Neville and Andy Cole have been publically standing up for the lad.
this is what a lot of our ‘fans’ don’t seem to understand. They have an effect on the way the media acts. The media plays up to this element of the fanbase, because they know they will lap it up, and jump on anything negative. The way Mason is being treated by the media along with others including so called fans of our club is an absolute disgrace
I think he's friends with City lad who killed himself after he got releasedAye fair enough, didn’t know he’d lost a friend to suicide.
I feel terrible reading this and deeply sorry for your loss. I have two sons. May your boy rest in peace.Well said. I didn't know he had lost a friend to suicide. I lost my only son at 19 through suicide.( breakup with girlfriend). Some of his friends also took it badly.
Thank you. Look after your sons, I miss mine so much. I have 2 grandsons and one who is a carpenter is spitting image of my son, so will never forget him.I feel terrible reading this and deeply sorry for your loss. I have two sons. May your boy rest in peace.
So sorry for your loss! I can't fathom the grievance, but I hope you are able to cherish every moment spent with the rest of your family.Well said. I didn't know he had lost a friend to suicide. Thank you very much.So sorry for your loss!
Sure thing, I'm happy that you seem to be able to overcome your loss. It has must been really difficult. Only the ones who have sons would understand your loss. Please accept my deepest condolences.Thank you. Look after your sons, I miss mine so much. I have 2 grandsons and one who is a carpenter is spitting image of my son, so will never forget him.
Really sorry to hear this. My local pubs landlords grandson did this over a girl as well. He did it on his 17th birthday about 8 years ago. The landlord and some of his family started walking and climbing around Kilimanjaro, Machu Picchu and other places raising money for charity. Papyrus a prevent suicide charity I think was one.Well said. I didn't know he had lost a friend to suicide. I lost my only son at 19 through suicide.( breakup with girlfriend). Yes, I am much better now. I feel I can talk about him now. I spent 18months passing my friends by, or hiding when I seen them on the road whilst walking. I visited an old Nun one day and sat talking to her for almost 2 hours and felt so much relief after this chat that I raced home to tell my wife who hadn't spoken about it for months.Sure thing, I'm happy that you seem to be able to overcome your loss. It has must been really difficult. Only the ones who have sons would understand your loss. Please accept my deepest condolences.
Sorry to hear about your cousin. Its a tradegy when anyone dies, but to take your own life, he must have been suffering terribly inside. The dude is 19 and the pressures on him are immense when they don’t need to be.
England are so desperate for “juicy celeb gossip” and a footballing messiah to win them the World Cup that any player with potential class is heralded before their time (see Calvert-Lewin for example). They did the same with Rooney, and look to want to do it again with a Greenwood.
Suicide is tragic. My cousin who I was very tight with killed himself 13 years ago and I have only started to try and heal. His is still fresh and I was a similar age to him and you can’t handle it personally let alone being critiqued for every move on a professional level. At this stage Mason should be watched by United as a potential suicide victim as its high in younger people who have suffered and are also going through trauma. Townsend is right, but he didn’t need to go public with his beliefs.
Players of any team will have my back over the media.
feck TalkSport, Daily Mirror and the Sun too. They’re just gossiping twats who do nothing but prop up their favourites and destroy the rest e.g Pogba, Rooney.
True, but really someone should keep a close eye on him and he needs comfort at this time. One of my sons friend tried it twice after my son died. It's very hard to get over and the media make it worse when he is in the limelight.Really sorry to hear this. My local pubs landlords grandson did this over a girl as well. He did it on his 17th birthday about 8 years ago. The landlord and some of his family started walking and climbing around Kilimanjaro, Machu Picchu and other places raising money for charity. As for Greenwood, if he has this on his conscience couldnt the club arrange councelling for him? Maybe they have and keep it away from the media. They will write whatever shit they want anyway.
They're only human though. They have a life outside football and probably want to know what's generally happening around the world. In fact, they probably want to know what's happening in football. Unfortunately, that means these things will reach them one way or another.Genuine question but do these stories get to the player if they aren't following media news? I'd stay as far away from social media if I was a celebrity
He was talking about the other Mason, Mount not Greenwood, in that instance I assure youAre the quotes going round about what Southgate has said true?
Whys he redirecting the topic of conversation from not playing Grealish to being about Greenwood?
I just wish people would connect the dots, and realise that this goes for every media department - not just the sports section. It's exactly the way they operate when it comes to more important stuff as well. There's always a set narrative, always someone to villify, always a meme for people to incorporate into their psyche. Proper brain washing.International week= slow news week.
Let's target a footballer with bullshit allegations. Media are cnuts
I'm glad it was about Mount as Greenwood needs protection now and time out of the limelight. The press are a disgrace going out of their way to target youngsters and make their lives harder for a few extra clicks. Hope he has a strong support system at the club and at home as he's been nailed on as being the newest whipping boy for the gutter paper backpages.
Been quite the glaring contrast to the treatment his mate Foden has received post-Iceland despite being younger and unmarried unlike his City friend. Shows how much these rags obsess over United
He was talking about the other Mason, Mount not Greenwood, in that instance I assure you
He's got something weird going there where no matter how well Grealish performs, Mount is always ahead of him in his squad selections
We know the reason the red tops go after him but I think some people in this forum and England fans lay into him because everyone fully believes he's going to be the next Rooney (or better) and when people hear some bullshit story about him they're annoyed he's denying them the chance for happiness by being great.Mad how Greenwood gets all this media hate whilst Foden is going about his business. I wonder why.
Hint: It's not to do with him playing for United as some are suggesting.
But that's the point, it was an isolated incident. Every single story that's come out about him since then has been denied multiple times by the club. United fans willing to believe every negative thing printed about us is a a big reason the media keep peddling these stories and getting away with it, not accusing you of that by the way. Regardless of what's actually happened with Greenwood, which the club's denied, he's already been labelled as throwing away his talent, a party animal, the next Ravel Morrison, always late to training, unprofessional etc, it's frankly ridiculous.Do tell...
I assume it’s because this wasn’t an isolated incident with Greenwood?
Kid just needs to get his head down and work hard in training so that is able to perform at his best in games when the opportunity comes along for him. All sort of growing up but Man Utd are always under the spotlight, Ole seems to be handling it well.
