RIP, legend of the game
He had to transfer to a different league after that tbf.As @Foxbatt said. " you could get away anything short of murder on the pitch.".
Many people in Argentina think that Messi is better. There is a reason everyone in Argentina laughs at you, when you suggest Messi is as good or even better than Maradona.
Kind of makes me wonder what are some epic, career-defining moments that the best players of today will be remembered by. There's so much more highlights nowadays than before and its hard for a magical moment to stick out like, say, the Hand of God does. I feel that the WC still gives such epic performances a bigger boost than club football, at least in the public consciousness (More people know about countries than clubs). He actually did well to survive so long....nearly went in 2000 when he was very bloated and he also had major health scare a few years ago before the recent ones.
What can you say about him really but his legacy in football is very much safe.
One of those people who'll still be debated in a sporting context in 100 years time. R.I.P.
Messi and Ronaldo will still be talked about in a century aswell I think but more for their cumulative performances unless scoring 40 goals a season becomes normal again or even easier to do as football moves on in the future.Kind of makes me wonder what are some epic, career-defining moments that the best players of today will be remembered by. Exactly my feelings well said. He was God like to our generation much more than just a footballer . Comfortably the best there has ever beenMy all time favourite player by some distance, remember watching him as a kid playing at the 86'WC like it was yesterday. Did nothing else that summer than going out with a ball practicing to be like him. From dusk till dawn that summer I dreamed of being like him. Never seen anything like him he was just something else. Flawed but sensational. Seems like the gods were holding him by the head when they dipped him into the magic potion, perfect and magical but his head was definitely not correctly screwed on. 2020 can now officially go and feck it self.
RIP you majestic human being.
It took five pages but eventually somebody spoke the hard truth instead of reeling off 'RIP' like a drone.A cheat departs this mortal coil. I don't care how talented, still a cheat.
Bellends, I’ll take the warningIt took five pages but eventually somebody spoke the hard truth instead of reeling off 'RIP' like a drone.
Because that *really* 'adds to the discussion.'
Aguero's goal against QPR.Kind of makes me wonder what are some epic, career-defining moments that the best players of today will be remembered by. And his friend, Fidel Castro.Died the same day as George Best, could be a quiz question in the future.
Obviously your mother never gave you enough attention as a child .. patheticA cheat departs this mortal coil. I don't care how talented, still a cheat.
Incredible But it looks like he scored 5 in that video? Many people in Argentina think that Messi is better.
The first time i paid attention to Maradona was when Gatti (Boca Juniors goalie) said that he wasn’t afraid of that “gordito” (fatty), that at that time was playing for Argentinos Juniors, and was facing Boca that weekend
That “gordito” Maradona was 19 years old, and scored 4 goals.
from here to eternity Diego
feck you 2020
Platini said this around euro 2000 when Zidane was probably at his absolute peakJust how good was he? This should be an appreciation thread to celebrate his life and career imo.
Without a doubt. Not only that that pitch in Aztec Stadium was in bits. He had such a low sense of trajectory. I was thirteen that year and agree never seen anything like it. In my opinion the best I've ever seen.Best player ever imo. The hand of god was one thing, but that 2nd goal was the best goal i've seen in a WC finals.
