He is top of the league, has the 2nd best attack in the league, the best defence in the league, unbeaten since matchday 1, has played several top6 rivals week in week out in the last weeks (weak run of opponents argument dismissed) and the first thing to do is raising doubts

Regardless on how Spurs end atm Mourinho is doing a fantastic job

If Pep, Klopp, Ole, Arteta or Lampard were doing this the media would be salivating (yes I know Klopp is doing the same but he also starts with the champion team)

I didn't even say that. I said that attacking players get sick and tired of relentless defending if they don't have anything to show for it after a long season. It's not normal for attackers to defend that deep so eventually they'll run tired of it unless they get the carrot they've been promised which is a league title. If you can't give them that, after running back to defend all season long they'll be fed up.
They have 23 league goals to show for it ... and counting. I know you don't want to talk about these, since it doesn't suit your narrative.

Im not going to get too excited till we get through the Christmas period. If we are still top then ill start to really believe.
Don't get me wrong and I do think he is doing a great job . But the sudden narrative shift that he is now an attacking manager to the fans of United and Chelsea who has seen enough of him, is just laughable.

What's just as laughable is that in the last 3 games he's parked the bus? He has played defensive, no Spurs fan will deny it, but its far from last ditch defending as I have ever seen. As always there is a narrative and an agenda. but you cannot deny Jose has out smarted 3 of the possible top 4, big time. Lampard amused me the most saying "we should have beaten them" based on absolutely nothing.

He’s doing a great job, but it is parking then bus. It’s nothing to be ashamed of really, I don’t see why there’s anyone denying it, it’s what Jose does to win trophies.

Clearly didn't watch the match, or any of the matches. Parking the bus is defending at all costs, no attacking, last ditch tackles, working 100% under a barrage of attack etc.

He's doing a very good job so far for Spurs and the players all seem to be buying into it. As I've said before there doesn't seem to be a trouble maker or a big ego in that first team either who would undermine him (Costa, Pogba, Ramos etc). He's had issues with Dele Alli but it's not really affected the team.

It'll be interesting to see if he can go up another level and what players he might need to reach that level. Another forward/winger on par with Son and Kane would be pretty frightening to the rest of the league. Despite Dier's good form, maybe a better centre back to partner Toby?

Is there a narrative shift? I don't think there is. We are clearly set up defensively to hit teams on the counter and it's working very well.

Hoping Bale can be that player once he regains full fitness and confidence. He has the ability. I agree we need another centre back - but to replace Toby.

The truth is that Jose is neither an attacking or defensive manager. He is a winner and knows how to get that result. And he sets his side up to achieve that in whatever he believes is the most effective way. And if he thinks a win is difficult then a draw is the objective.

And frankly I am delighted with what he is doing at Tottenham for 2 reasons.
1. I genuinely like the guy.
2. If he stops Liverpool winning again then even better.

Is it his age that's the problem? Every time I've seen him (including today) he's been very good. I haven't seen that much of Spurs this year but he always seems like your best defender when I have.

He is excellent but he is going to need replaced in the next year or two probably.

It's working very well until it doesn't which ourselves, Chelsea and Madrid quickly found out. So better hope he wins you at least a trophy before the players get fed up and he Jose starts his fires.

All managers end up losing the respect of the players and getting sacked (99% of them anyway) what makes Jose any different?

The second half was clearly parking the bus, you was too busy watching AFTV to notice mate. You finished it having had the ball for about a quarter of the time. Like I said, it's nothing to be ashamed of, certainly nothing to be defensive about.

That it always ends bitterly and your club becomes a circus near the end.

People hate Mourinho because he's the antithesis of everything they hold dear. At his best he is one of the most effective managers you could have at any cost..

You can clearly see he is loving life. Spurs may well be contenders come the end of the season and I would have no issues. They play intelligent football and just because it isn't aesthetic to many, his counter attacks are really wonderful.

Key is how the player's have bought into the strategy. A trophy is much appreciated from Spurs fans, but don't be surprised if Jose pulls off what would be possibly his best league season win.

Isn't that the way with most managers when they are about to get sacked? I'm struggling to see how Jose is any different - maybe because he has a bigger ego than most?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Spurs fans seem relatively comfortable being defensive against the bigger clubs (Liverpool, United, City, Chelsea). It's really not a slight on the club, but it definitely makes Spurs and Jose a good long term match IMO.

Yeah pretty much. When it goes wrong, it's never his fault. Truth of the matter is when it goes wrong, the manager, club and players are all to blame in some part.

Yeah I'm 100% on board with it as it's getting results and we rarely look troubled. I think most Spurs fans feel the same way at the moment.

This is gonna be a fun read when it inevitably all changes.
He's purring now, but in a few months he'll scowl. Leopard can't change its spots.

Spurs fans will rightly enjoy the ride but I can see him throwing players under the bus and deflecting attention when things go bad.

They could have scored 800 goals so far and it wouldn't have had any relevance to the point I was making. Congratulations on 23 the goals... and counting. No offence but I've had enough of this, this is as enticing as arguing with a child. The fact you responded to my post initially is impressive considering you likely didn't even understand what you've read.

You said, "attacking players get sick and tired of relentless defending if they don't have anything to show for it".

I said, " They have 23 league goals to show for it ... and counting" ... which is entirely relevant to the point you made.

No, you decided to quote half a sentence to make out I care about your point about the 23 goals.

The guy sucks all the joy out of watching football. Lost count of the big games ruined as a spectacle by him and his result at all costs football.

He could be toxic as they come but in reality when someone like him who has the CL twice and both times with unfancied teams and has won the league in every country he has managed, most of the time, it's the players and the club's fault.
Who actually bought Hojbjerg and Bergwijn? Was it Jose or before he arrived?

Both during his tenure. Bergwijn though was brought in by their head of recruitment as shown in the documentary, so who knows perhaps his other signings were unearthed by the same guy.

He's still a very good manager so it's not that surprising what happening at Spurs.
He's one of the best at a results based industry but he needs all the players to buy in to be successful, something that never happened at United or Madrid. You get Allardyce in to save you from relegation and you get Jose in to win you trophies.
