Conte's record in the CL is pretty poor ain't it? Out in the groups last season, losing to Barca reserves and he never did much with Juve.

Shakhtar seriously playing for 3rd place, time wasting and celebrating at the final whistle. That's one of the most pathetic things I've seen in a while.

Think that's the most happiest I've ever seen a team getting knocked out of the Champions League in Shakhtar Donetsk's players and staff. Manager can't stop smiling

Yep, would bet on them to do it this year. They look as impressive as ever.
I mean, they got demolished by Bayern and couldn't beat their reserves in a game that meant nothing to them

Also they're el pupas

Woho Gladbach through

You can say sort of deserved given they gave up leads late in both their opening matches.

Inter not even reaching Europe League is an absolute disaster. Wonder what Conte will say as an excuse for this.

Time to take a trip to Inter forum. I need some laugh to forget that nightmare yesterday.

I can't believe Shakhtar played like that near the end of the match, and then celebrated. The coach was screaming at the 4th official about injury time being over, all they needed was a goal, not to mention Inter sent Handanovic up 2-3 times. Really pathetic play from them.

Also Lukaku absolutely cost Inter this match by blocking that Sanchez header. Think it had too much pace on it for the keeper.

Shakhtar is going to be a serious player in the Europa League. Hope we don’t draw them anytime soon.

You can say they didn't deserve to lead late in either of those games, too(ok, they did deserve to lead against us, just not by 2 goals, and inter absolutely battered them, it was only thanks to vidal they even got into the game)

But yeah, their wins against shakhtar were impressive enough and inter ultimately couldn't manage 1 goal against them...

Honestly, Inter will probably be happy without the Europa League. Less matches in an already congested schedule.

Have City got enough to win it this year?

Might stick a tenner on them

Pathetic? They lost 5-0 to Inter a few months ago, being in Europe is important for them. What were the odds they got a result today...

Such a weird group.

Inter > Gladbach
Real > Inter
Inter = Shaktar
Shaktar > Real
Gladbach > Shaktar
Real > Gladbach

In the end can't really say anyone deserved to or didn't deserve to go through. Everyone played equally crap and amazing.

The Conte thread on the inter forum is already a hilarious read and the game has just ended. Anyone should spare some time to check it out.

Only watched the last 10 min but couldn't believe my eyes. I'd be so pissed as a player if that was ordered by the manager.

To be fair, they could have won the 1st game against Bayern and game was closer than the scoreline. Athletico could have scored multiple goals, but Neuer is just incredible. And if you let Bayern score 1/2 goals, they just roll over you. But it is actually a joke that Bayern topped their group and are 1st in the Bundesliga. Imo they have been so bad for their standards.

That being said , Athletico are far from being close to favourites. They just lack some offensive power. Even against Bayerns reserve team they played defensively, like wtf.

They lost 10-0 over two legs to Gladbach. Their entire game plan relies on not conceding the first goal, if they do then they'll get hammered. Most teams will be happy to draw them.

Surely Conte is going to be fired If they manage to fail to qualify for even the Europa League after this
Embarrassing exit for Contes men in a easier group than Uniteds. Lukaku missing a number of good chances to score again (nothing new). Last throw of the dice was to bring on Sánchez whom headed over a chance that should have been left to Lukaku and his secind headed effort was blocked by Lukaku.

Worth remembering a Shakhtar donetsk side they bet 5-0 in the Europa league semi final

In the 1st half they rarely ventured forward, which makes sense, because a draw could take them through, but once they got news at half-time that RM were 2-0 and cruising, you'd think they gameplan may have changed. But it looks like they were clearly playing for a draw, regardless of what happened in that other match.

Disagree. Just ask Zidane what he thinks of them.

Gladbach were pretty luck to get through in the end. Wouldn't have thought Inter would've ended 0-0 once news was coming in of Real Madrid comfortably winning. Sort of result when you get when both teams just need a draw to make knock out results but in the end neither made it, was it end to end for last 10 minutes?

Conte's record in CL is pretty bizarre, can't say it's just a bad year or two either.
