Why on Earth mythical? Are you that deluded? I mean is OGS some sort of a miracle whose success can not be beaten? Brendan bloody Rogers is a better manager. Jose well past it Mourinho is better too unfortunately. Rose, Nagelsmann, Zidane, Conte, Allegri, Pochettino are all much better managers. Carlo Ancelotti, Mircea Lucescu are still much much better than him. So stop being deluded. Ole is not some sort of a wonder and it won't take a miracle to find a better gaffer. Name one top half team in any top 5 European leagues which would want to hire Ole. Mythical, my arse...
Then you could go to Pioli etc. Even the likes of Potter and Dyche would get more out of this team. Seriously.

I can't wait for this game after the mid week disappointment. This is a chance to further extend our lead on City. I couldn't care less on how long we hang on to it and the season ahead. All eyes on tomorrow, let's get 3 points. If a derby win isn't enough motivation for some of you, I don't know what is.

United have the chance to put themselves firmly in the title picture with a win. I can only see one outcome in such a pressurised scenario.

    United 0 - 3 City.

I can’t see us winning this, City are due one over us. Tuesday night has basically killed my enthusiasm for the entire season.
Did you actually think we were going to win the CL then? I don't get why so many people are 'devestated' by going out of competition we were never likely to win anyway. We all know we aren't at that level yet.

Because there are several levels (including financial incentives) to participating in a competition. Or should we just lean back and enjoy the ride if we are not likely to win it. Does this apply to the Prem. as well? We are unlikely to win the league, so why bother with final league positions and points earned? As long as we are not relegated just stop panicking and support the manager?

How can people want us to lose. Fans that is. We’re still in the mix for the title and you want us to lose just to match your ole out agenda. No true fan wants us to lose to city, not one! Feck off.

More absolute moaning guff from you. Relegated? We'd be top 4 right now if we won our game in hand and level with Chelsea. And no we aren't going to win the league either but I doubt very much anyone at the club thought we would.

You're an absolute joke of a fan. We got PSG n Leipzig in our group. It was never going to be a straight forward group for us. Chelsea on the other hand got Rennes and Krasnador. We'd have got through that group with games to spare. That's how it goes sometimes.

If we win this weekend I hope you are truly truly miserable. My word with fans like our who needs rival fans.

I think we will go with 5 at the back and be 2 down at ht. We will rally with 2 goals but so will city. 2-4

Basically just a rehash of many phrases I have read here several times "Rebuild project", "Can't change managers every 2 years", "Laying foundations". You have said nothing new.

I swear United is the only big club in the world who is damaged by changing managers every 2 years and is in eternal cycle of rebuilding and transitional phases ever since Fergie left.

Other clubs around us sack managers every 2-3 years and never take more than 2 years or so of rebuilding but for United it's a task harder than climbing Everest. We expect every manager to spend 3-5 years rebuilding his side from scratch then start evaluating him.

The logic of "keep the manager because I don't think another manager will solve the problem" is a logic you'll only see applied in United.
Well said. You can see the glazers with the calculators working out how much it' is to keep the manager another 12 months or get shut and bring another in

It’s the nature of the loss, not the result itself. I’ve been Ole in for a while but his constant mistakes are becoming difficult to ignore. The performance on Tuesday was a total embarrassment.

It feels like this. Everytime we had a chance to close the gap to those up front we fecked it up under Ole so far. Let's see how it goes tomorrow.

Given that Cavani and Martial are likely out, I doubt it'll be that formation and line up

You really are a troll, honestly. Zero logic, master of twisting words. The likes of you are oppo fans, who enjoy seeing United out of CL, never ever competing for trophies while spending hundreds of millions. The likes of you are happy with being knocked out of CL in group stages while bottling it 5 levels below Poch, who you dare to call a bottler. The only good thing is that the majority of fans still know what Man Utd is about. Keep trolling. The harsh reality is that we fecked it up in EL, CL, and are celebrating top 4 like a trophy, whereas it is only about playing in CL, where our manager is a documented bottler.

Don't think we had Bruno at the Etihad. We had him at OT. We still beat them in league with or without Bruno. Fred and his energy to allow for the ball to be safe in our hands is the real key.

Why? We have closed gaps this season, that's how we are at 5 pts, I think we were 9 pts away from the top at MD 4.
And we have a game in hand, still.

It was also 9 pts at MD 7.

Winning this game will be important. Let's hope the energy of Fred and the intensity of James will make us tick.

No evidence his job is on the line.
It's always on the line according to the media. If only that was true... I feel like we would win even more because the players are always responding when it's really on the line.

Don't see what everyone's so scared of. City are even lower down the league than Utd, and apparently we're dreadful, so how bad must they be?

I’m just saying. He gets the most out of that Burnley side. The football will be really, really shite though
Who was that guy who got the most out of that Everton side, albeit with dour shite football? We should have tried him after Fergie.

You know what, Moyes is a far better manager than Ole. His reputation, constant achievement of season objectives (except when he was here and at Sunderland) and the fact that he seems to be top of the list for midtable PL clubs when a vacancy arises says so. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. He failed here for two reasons:

    1) He’s nowhere good enough for a big side, like Ole.
    2) Taking over from SAF would have been hard for the likes of Jose, Pep and Klopp, just that they wouldn’t have failed as badly.

Btw, don’t get it twisted, I’m not saying Dyche should be manager after Ole  I’m saying that he too is a far better manager than Ole.

I have deja vu from Tuesday.
Let's hope not. I think Scott Matic didn't work because somehow, they fail to control the midfield, and they don't get the ball high enough for us. As a result, we were in constant pressure, and the CBs had to compensate. And ultimately, they sucked in the wing backs as well, opening space behind them.

Fred Scott works, because Fred is so energetic and punchy in counter pressing. It will allow Scott to alternate more efficiently when intercepting, and as a result, the defense should be able to breathe more. Hopefully that means the full back (I don't think we will play a back 3) won't get sucked in again.

Last time Pep won was when he tried to play with no striker. We will see how we adapt to that.

Fair question and to be fair I’d be just has happy with VDB there.
Yeah all McTominay really offers is hard work & a good mentality. I think he’d be a good guy to bring on if we’re holding onto a lead but starting him against City just seems pointless. Even if we’re setting up counter attack someone like Van De Beek or even Pogba (eww) would be more beneficial actually picking out the defence splitting balls. McT & Fred just don’t have the passing range to play together against a team like City for me, unless the plan is to sit deep & hope we’re clinical on the break.

I think that’s a little unfair on McTominay, his ball retention has improved a lot, I can’t remember which game it was recently where he was pressed really hard and used dribbling and feints to get out of trouble to good effect, but I do agree with the overall theme of your post and VDB might be better for this match.

    This.
Even if we advance, I have no confidence at all - just trying to enjoy the ride.. which I only can if the players and manager give it their all. Such a shame. I think that hurts more. Losing the group stage if we gave it our all is fine. We didn't.
