Im replaying Deus Ex: Human Revolution until they fix this to get my dystopian cyberpunk fix.
It doesn't help that two weeks ago their CEO said in an investors call that the PS4/One version ran "surprisingly well".
Even though I'm playing on PC, this initial backlash has dampened a lot of my enthusiasm. Rather than playing this over xmas, I'll probably look to get it when the price drops at some point next year.
I'm sure it is still a great game, but I have a backlog of great games to play. So I can wait.

Really hoping my brother didn't buy me this for Xmas on the PS4. I'll get it for the PC later in the year after they've done a lot of fixing.

I agree. I appreciate that technically this game isn't where it should be and I sort of expected that because a) CDPR struggled with getting a quality product out at release with Witcher 3 too, b) it involved a lot of elements they had never used in games before and had no experience with (it's a relatively inexperienced studio remember), c) when all the delays happened it became apparent that there were major issues with the game. There's still a quality game beneath that with great, engaging world and a decent story and for me it's been perfectly enjoyable (albeit on PS5, someone playing on PS4 may have a different perspective as those bugs will be bothering them more). The product is not as good as it should be and I wish they had taken extra 6 months and developed this as next-gen only title but investor's pressure forced them into decisions they probably wish they wouldn't have made.
But didn't they actually announce the game before the PS4 was released? I'm guessing it's difficult to develop for a console which predecessor isn't even out yet.

I hope it means that they are going to give us some amazing content in the future. Although on the other hand it might scare them off from trying to make modern/futuristic open world games ever again.

It wouldn't have had quite the same buzz, but still plenty, and their reputation would presumably be in tact for years to come.
I think the idea in AC: Odyssey was that pure stat increases were compensated by the scaling enemies but at the same time you're building up an arsenal of abilities and passives that should gradually increase your advantage over enemies. The balance didn't feel right though, so you never really felt yourself progressing all that much.
I like fixed level enemies but it does become problematic if you're in an open world where a well travelled area is too easy after a while. Complementing the standard enemies (which you can now face stomp) with a couple of tougher challenges feels like the best solution to me, like what you're saying about Skyrim. It's much better than an average joe still being a match for your now godlike character, as in Odyssey.
I have a feeling that's what the cyber questline enemies are supposed to be. I've only fought 3 so far, with 1 being easy and the other 2 being a nightmare at my current level. I had to pull out of one of those fights to revisit later.

And as I said, I have so many games to play over xmas. If they can iron out some bugs in the next few months, great, I'll pick it up then.
Not sure if it irks you, but I'm finding wandering around the open world city and finding an abundance of locked doors annoying... especially so when the building looks interesting and has 'OPEN!' slapped all around it! Clearly not open sir!
this is my stance too, I’ve only just finished God of War and have about 10 other games in my backlog so may as well hold off and see what state it’s in next year
The crowd/car density needs fixing. More so the car spawn rate. Im on PC so I can turn the crowd density up to high but its still super rare to see more than like 4-5 cars on the streets/roads.

I had to turn RT off on my 2060 Super. Just could not get stable FPS no matter what I did with the normal settings, so decided to run on ultra @ 1440p with it off instead. Shame as it did look great.
And yet I still manage to get hit by cars when I cross the road. If this game had a Perception stat, I'd set mine to 1. Or 0.
But yeah, a more bustling city would be nice. The atmosphere feels best around those parts where there's a lot of people.
Crazy they actually released the game in such a state... another delay would probably have pissed people off sure, but wouldn't have been worse then this?

Dunno, maybe they did the financials in their head and figured it'd be better to release it now as opposed to delaying it another year. They had a lot riding on this - it's five years since The Witcher 3 came out and this cost them a fortune to make so it's very possible they just didn't have the budget to do another year of development.
Still seems mad to me but I guess if they do patch it to the high heavens for the next year and it becomes the game it was supposed to be.. they'll regain a lot of that lost faith and people will probably talk about it as a great game like Skyrim, Fallout: NV and other very buggy on release games of that ilk.
What I REALLY don't get it how they thought it was in any way a good idea to release the ps4 and xbox versions. They should've just released the PC and stadia versions and delayed those til next year. Madness.

They got massive reserves of cash. They could have easily waited another year. Also, they could have remastered Witcher 3 for PS5/XSX which would have sold well too.

Yeah that's what they are doing. But a re-release for a smaller price would have been fair too. That's what Rockstar have done with GTA twice already (I mean PS5/XSX version is still pending but you will have to pay full price for it when it gets released I bet).

Genuinely been stuck in a basement for 20 minutes now. Cannot see a thing and it’s telling me to follow the lights.
I remember that mission and having the same problem. Iirc I think there's a purplish/pinky light somewhere which is the way you need to go.
Ahh, don't I hated that mission! Go to the locked door with the light and then turn directly around 180 and you can get under the floor. It was an absolute shambles but I did laugh when the lights came back on and the room felt way bigger than when I was scrambling around in the dark.
The npc car AI is also dumb af. I often park my car in the middle of the road, get off to do a gig or side mission, and when I come back I just see a line of cars patiently waiting behind mine. I mean they couldn't have driven around it?
I guess you don't get random glitches like controller buttons not working? It gets a bit frustrating when the gun won't reload/aim/fire and melee does nothing when in a shootout.
Keeps me on my toes though, not sure what will work or not until I'm neck-deep...
Did you get the free Stadia Premiere Edition with the game purchase? I hadn't realised I qualified for it so was a very nice surprise.
It also gives me a chance to play the game using a different controller/chromecast, maybe they'll be more stable.
