The disparager
Ronaldo fan boys have been defending penalty goals in this thread for ages and then you say but Quagliarella scored a lot of penalties. Which is it, penalties shouldn't be taken into account or should be taking into account?- Higuain WAS a top player. He regularly started ahead of Aguero for the National Team and his numbers were good at Madrid too. The problem is that he was a serial bottler.
- Immobile scored 36 goals; 14 of which were penalties in a season where the rules changed so pens were being awarded at an unprecedented rate so his numbers were inflated and don't necessarily represent the strength of the league.
Even if Higuain was a top player, the record goals in a 38 game PL season is 34. The following players at their peak were better than Higuain ever was and didn't score 36 league goals in a season, Salah, Henry, Aguero, Shearer, Ronaldo (entering his prime), Rooney, Suarez, Drogba, Kane, Van Persie. That in itself shows that Serie A isn't that difficult now, especially when 2 players scored more in a season in the last 5 years than anyone in a PL season in 30 years.
Only 3 players in Serie A have scored more than 30 league goals in a season since 1958. Toni scored 31 in 2005, then Higuaín and Quarliarella in 2 of the last 5 seasons.
The above easily shows how Serie A is not great anymore, and hasn't been a top league since 2008 ish.
