But hang on I thought Lindelof’s defending style couldn’t work against top teams? Surely he was beaten for pace every 5 seconds OH WAIT!

Really pleased to see him absolutely shine through in that performance hopefully shuts a few up for a week.

MOTM for me. Very few mistakes and some excellent blocks and clearances.

Probably helped that Liverpool had a stinker attacking wise too.

After I slagged him off before hand that was great to see.

And much more proactive than he can be today, that block at the end was Bailly-esque.

When you sit very deep in the box and play with 2 tall defensive midfielders around without much hope of playing out from the back he can be decent. Not what we want at this club generally speaking. Had a good game besides wasting the ball, hoofing.

Very good game from him.

Really struggling to understand the negativity surrounding his selection. He's good with his feet and able to withstand the press, a far better choice than Bailly for a game like this.

Sod off, you're a parody at this point.

Feck it I’m calling it what it was. Lindelof and Maguire tonight were world class.

Predictably boring

I think as we all know I’m not his biggest fan, but fair play he did very well today. Only the one mistake in the first half when he got pulled out of position.

I still maintain though his lack of pace and strength stops us pushing up higher, but when playing defensively he is Better.

It was world class today. Both him and Maguire kept Liverpool absolutely quiet. Average defenders can’t do what just happened tonight.

Lindelof quick enough for you now?

Nope - but I was happy with how he played today.

still made a few clangers like the long ball on the right flank in the first half and 1 long ball he dangled a leg in mid air and missed it and mane nearly got in - but he did well for the rest of it.

I still prefer Bailly in matches we need to press more in though.

Solid performance with one big block, I still don't like how we play when him and Maguire are partnered.

So you think he is strong on the ball, and can play without tall men around him I presume. No need to pretend he wasn't good but no need to pretend it wasn't a unbelievably defensive performance. He was disciplined and cautious, which is his style and it suited us this game where we wanted to primarily sit back and defend. If you want to pretend he is this quick strong defender that pushes out to win the ball proactively like Fabinho did for Pool you're allowed to without quoting my opinion as less than your blindly arrogant viewpoint. Lindelof isn't Van Djik, Fabinho, Maguire, Thiago Silva class so please stop pretending.

Solid performance, but also part of the reason why we were playing deeper, especially in the first half. Neither he or Maguire have recovery pace.

He will be favoured for the bigger games because of his defensive stability, but I still favour a front foot defender like Bailly.

Lindelof, Maguire, Bailly - all fit and in-form - gives us some nice defensive combinations to pick from depending on the team.

I have a confidence in any 2 of the 3.

Solid? It was the best defensive performance from Lindelof and Maguire tonight in the PL.

We wanted to play deeper today to counter Liverpool on the break. It nearly worked. Pressing them too high would play into their hands especially with two midfielders at CB who can both pick out a pass.

His reading of the game is always top notch. When defending deep, this asset is very important.

Lindelof could keep a clean sheet against Neymar, Ronaldo and Messi whilst also scoring a hattrick and you'd still find something to whinge about. Have a day off.

Turns out it was an inspired selection by Ole. Lindelof usually plays well in these type of matches, and today he was one of our best players.

Had very good game today. Thought Ole messes up by not playing Bailly, credit to Lindelof. He was very good.

Was excellent. Only shaded by Shaw or would been my MOTM.
It was ridiculous to see people complaining about Bailly not playing in the match day thread even when Lindelof was playing so well.

You must mistake me for someone who cares what you think. Have a nice day, enjoy the victory.
