Isn't this the last summer transfer window before agent fees are capped? Wouldn't at all be surprised to see Raiola move Haaland and Pogba on for his last double dip on a big pay day.

After spending 60m on Werner are they really going to give up on him after a season? Not convinced.

The one thing though is that Werner at RB leipzig played next to a target man really to unlock him.

He never really played like a sole striker or a LW as far as I remember and had struggled previously when doing so.

I'm not saying Haaland is a target man; but it doesnt mean Chelsea go out and get the transfer or tactics right or play him in the right way either (like it hasnt happened with Werner or Havertz so far).

One weakness I would put to Haaland is that he isn't great at holding the ball when either put under pressure or when controlling long passes, atleast not at the ability of traditional target men like Mandzukic, Giroud, Lewandowski or Werner's RB colleagues (Poulsen and Schik). I'm sure people will post his recent goal v RB Leipzig where he beat 3 men and passed to Sancho, but that has been very rare for me.

That being said, the one two partnership of Haaland and Werner would be great imo. I'm still struggling to think why Lampard hasn't tried playing Werner and Giroud/Abraham together because that has been Werner's strength.

 Was he? Guy barely played 30 games for them.
Well, he was captain that full season he played for them before his injury. They got relegated, and is leftknee injury kept pretty much kept him from playing much longer, so I guess a "City legend" is to stretch it. ;)

Yeah I know, Haaland holding ability and even his aerial ability isnt his strongest ability. He seems to be a bit more run in behind, but it's why I feel like Chelsea might go for it almost accidentally and see how Haaland develops at England since he wont be easiest player to hold on to and maybe have the ability to bring something out of Werner. Maybe not the cleanest but something effective from both attackers.

I agree on Giroud and Werner in particularly. I'm not sure why that hasnt been lined up; I'm not sure if Lampard has seen Werner's previous career struggles to see what he needs as a tactic in the team.

I have to strongly disagree with you here. I think he is excellent at this and his first touch is first class.

Why would we be giving up on him? You need more than 1 forward and we will need to replace Giroud at the end of the season.

We won't sign Haaland but it's not because we just got Werner. We'll be signing a forward for sure.

I really think we should be in for him despite Raiola. He's a phenomenon and Cavani has shown what a genuine front man can do. Pay whatever they want and forget about Sancho imo.

You should keep Cavani. He looks nowhere near done.
Oh I'm in favour of that too. If we signed Haaland I'd have him and Cavani for the striker spot and Rashford/Martial for LW.

Agreed. I think the Raiola angle is overstated. If the club is performing to expectations i don't think we will hear from him. I had a quick look at his clients and nobody else is kicking up a fuss (though I don't follow other leagues as closely so open to correction).

Is his dad a City legend? Says something about them then

I don't see him in PL other than with us as we're the only ones daft enough to deal with his agent, I still think Bayern (Lewandowski's replacement) or Juve (Ronaldo's replacement) is his most likely destination
Most certainly not. I think Duffer has got confused there. Haaland is as much a City legend as Jo

This. Just pay more than the release clause, also use the Pogba situation to our benefit.

Tell the fat man that we will grease the wheels on Pogba’s exit if Haaland comes to United. It’s a win win for the greedy tw@t then.

Haaland is just made for Uniteds counterattacking. He would fit like a glove. Pogba and Bruno would find him easily and he would also create space for Rashford/Martial on the left and Greenwood/Rashford on the right. And, to think of if James progresses, the forward three could be James, Haaland and Rashford. Warp speed attack.

Drop £200m on Dortmund’s doorstep and take Haaland and Sancho off them. Just don’t tell Dortmund or Sancho that £160m of it is for Haaland.

Don't really like the idea of spending that sort of money on any player.

Actually a good use of 200m, let's get Ed to make the calls.

I think that's a misconception with Pep because he hasn't bought many attackers. Ibra and Pep didn't see eye to eye but Pep insisted on signing him valuing his qualities as a player. Whether Lewadowski has improved after Pep is neither here nor there, Pep loved him and used him for years. Pep values Jesus' workrate more than anything but, the fact we want a new striker, emphasises that he does not appreciate Jesus' finishing ability or lack thereof.

The biggest issue getting Haaland for City isn't Pep, as Martin Blackburn who is a very reputable journalist in regards to City has stated he's a big fan of Haaland, it's our transfer model. For all our spending, we have done everything in our power to avoid spending 70m+ let alone the 100m+ it would take to get Haaland. We've also shown total disinterest in dealing with Raiola and also avoided going for players that are wanted by a host of clubs. Haaland, while he makes so much sense for City, would also be the most anti-City move. It'll be very interesting to see if we make a move and how determined our pursuit is.

Haaland will eventually push for a move to Madrid, no matter which club he's in. There's something about having that type of players that I dont like, as soon as Madrid/Barca flirt with them they'll push for the move.

Also I really dislike Riaola, so I would rather go for another striker eventhough Haaland is the next big thing.

I'd hope the club aren't silly enough to cut their nose off to spite their face over an agent. He's a pain in the arse, but Haaland is more than worth dealing with the devil for.

I think the major stumbling block for any transfer would be if they ask for a release clause but if they drop that request then I think it's possible he ends up at United, primarily due to his connection with Ole + wages we can offer.

Chelsea can feck off.
To be honest, if there’s one premier league team I wouldn’t mind Haaland going to (realistic options) then it would be Chelsea. It would only be a matter of time before Chelsea cock things up no matter who they bring in. Much prefer he goes there instead of city or Liverpool.

He wouldn't. It's not beyond belief that those clubs won't make an offer which is acceptable to Dortmund and Chelsea does though.

He's going to Man City anyway. Dad was a Man City legend and he'll be Agueros replacement.
I think that gets trumped by Haaland literally being trained by Ole in his path to the top level and their families still having a close relationship.

Yeah no doubt Haaland is on the path to being the best striker in the world eventually, we all know that Raiola in a complete pain in the arse but still hope we are in the argument for him when he does leave Dortmund. I feel like his special connection with Ole could help but it comes down to whether he can convince the board to have dealings with Mino again after all this Pogba fiasco.

We shall see.
I don't think the chatter is too dissimilar to all of the talk of Pogba going to Man City during his final season at Juventus. Raiola is going to link Haaland with all of the top clubs in Europe and everyone will want him for sure but personal connections do matter. Of course, United will need to maintain their current league form and standing to have a shot regardless. Also can't underestimate that we can probably match or exceed the wages that anyone else will offer.

Oh yeah we will definitely have to remain competitive in order to have any chance of signing him

Ole is going to need another season of us contending in order to stay in the mix for him when that clause activates

Never underestimate this.
What that would mean for Martial remains to be seen.

I can see Real Madrid getting involved and will be between them and city.

So are you saying that we have a chance or it's just between Real & City for him, was a bit confused

If we signed Haaland I don't know why anyone would care for a second what happens to Martial, but maybe that's just me. Either he'd sit on the bench and play when needed, or he'd be sold.
