Conor looked really good before the KO I thought.

Poirier is a beast though and hits like a truck. Amazing flurry to take him out.

This shouldn’t really come as a surprise given that Dustin came within a whisker of choking Khabib out.

McGregor never had the power to worry Dustin.
Think this could be the end of Conor for real now..

What's left now for him?

Khabib? Nope.

Diaz trilogy fight, I guess.
It’s always fun when he fights. So yeah let’s see Diaz trilogy

He is a cnut and I get why many will be delighted, but I’m strangely disappointed

He is a beaten man. He can continue in the Cerrone type if he wants. And it will always be fun

He is done though as far as being a contender. That’s all she wrote

I don't think Conor did much wrong tonight. Dustin just came in with a better strategy of softening up the legs then going for the head.

He can only blame himself for being so unpopular, but I am disappointed too. He brings a buzz like no one else does.

At only 32, it’s far too early to write him off. He looked sharp before the flurry. It’s up to him if he can get active like he says and start to get a rhythm back. You could see, even tonight, how quick and clever he is with his striking.

I want him around and think the sport, as a whole, is better with him in it.

Love him or hate hm, it's always fun to watch when he fights so I hope he's active from now on even if he's not at the top

I'm a massive McGregor fan but he looked like an old man tonight. I think hes had a good run but hes done. Poirier is good but that was too easy.

Diaz trilogy is the only fight that makes sense for him next. It will still get a pretty big buzz and it's around the right level of fighter for him.

And plus, humble Conor > cocky Conor. The fact that he's been beaten a couple of times makes it much easier to get behind him as the underdog in the future.

Just wasn't aggressive enough. Showed no respect for Dustin and paid for it.
Because he's one dimensional. If you weather the storm of his punches early on, you can gradually wear him down. Diaz, Khabib and now Dustin, have each proven this.

I get what you mean. He is box office. Rightly or wrongly. I think he lost the hunger after the Alvarez fight and especially after Mayweather. Wasn’t focused vs Khabib, he was all over the place going into that, and got mauled. Been out a long time now with only the Cerrone “fight”. He seems focused now again but that’s after a lot of standing still/fecking around while a lot of bad men have moved forward. Disappointed as I had hoped for Khabib/Tony/McGregor to fight it out at the top of LW for years now but that might never happen.

I wonder how much they’ve been focusing on boxing and whether it’s too much. Actually thought he looked good tonight in the first round and was landing good shots throughout but Poirier chewed up his leg with the stance he was in.

Conor has very limited finishing power at LW it turns out. Kinda like Holloway when he moved up. He's fecked when these top LW's are eating his shots.
This is exactly it. He landed some clean shots but Porier stayed composed and didn't get drawn into a slugfest. Great fight by Dustin and a deserving champion if Khabib doesn't return.

this. kinda like liverpool, only really knows how to fight one way. it's all too predictable now especially with him being on the wrong side of 30 and everyone being more capable of dealing with his strengths.

That's not the reason he lost though is it. He almost treated it like a boxing match, having his weight on his lead leg and did nothing to check Dustins leg kicks. Just wasn't as hungry as Dustin in there and I guess it's understandable.

Yah he's box office. But I think he's done now. What's his motivation? Must still be sitting on a fat pile of cash from the Mayweather fight.

Khabib won't come back to face Dustin again, doesn't add anything to his legacy. Chandler? Maybe, but not convinced. More likely vacate the belt and fight GSP at 170 or retire for good.

He's just not got that drive anyomre IMO.
He has nothing to gain really. The money he'll make from that fight is probably a drop in the ocean compared to what he is earning from his other businesses. He looked old and slow.

Saying that, Poirier is simply class. Class fight and seems like a class bloke. Delighted for him.
