You think? I think he looks slow as feck, like he's running in cement in wellies, it's why he fouls so often because he can't keep up with anyone, utterly unsuited to Klopp's system.
That's the point, the system just required a functional midfield. Now that teams are defending against crosses from Scrappy Doo and TAA... They need more of a controlling and creative force from midfield. They won't get it right instantly

But they also have a system built on fast football, high pressure, high workrate. He looks so wrong there, he looks to be running through a cow field in iron clogs.

He’s good on the ball but off of it looks a bit slow. That’s why he’s always going to ground. He’d benefit from Fabinho moving back into midfield.

Bayern never sell prematurely. Looks a little past it for the pace of the PL. Good on the ball, but struggling off it.

He's made like 10 fouls against us in two games and hasn't had a yellow card

He's a disgusting player at times - he's technically really good at times too, but he's such a smarmy git for technical fouls.

The problem is Liverpool just use him as an outlet way too much. They created an effective style bypassing midfield. Now they spend the whole match just rotating the ball through Thiago.

Did slightly better today creating chances, but I will never understand this signing?

It's a bit like Pep signing Andy Carroll

I think he's an incredible player in the right league and system, and maybe he has just slowed, but I'm absolutely amazed at how slow he looks, like a land based Eric the Eel.
If it wasn't for that I'd be certain that it's just a matter of time, maybe it's the injury, we'll see.

Klopp got the best out of Gündogan, he'll probably do the same with Thiago. This season is nuts anyway. Most tables of European top leagues would look differently without Corona I believe.

I don't think it's a good comparison. Andy Carroll would've been a good option for City who don't have that kind of player/threat. In Liverpool case, they already are possession based team and if they wanted to play more through the middle they could just ask Fabinho to do what Thiago does, almost to the same level. It just doesn't make sense because he doesn't make them a better team, especially considering he's so weak and slow off the ball.

I hope they keep playing him as single pivot in EPL.

Got outplayed by Herrera in the CL final and keeps getting Pogba'd in England.

Fantastic talent at Barca. Underwhelming for large parts at Bayern. Loads of injuries.. at 30. Stinking the place out in the premier league..
Liverpool got mugged.

What table looks weird? Top sides are still at the top.
Maybe in November but not now

Mane's a dirty cnut too. I still think Thiago is very good despite being a cynical feck, unfortunately.
Not sure he suits this liverpool team, fabinho just looks a more suitable choice and im not especially convinced they'll be good together, not without some Bruno / KDB esque no 10 at least, which they dont have. Maybe next season it'll make more sense

Yeah, a lot calling it a robbery at the time and we'll see how things will turn out but in the end Bayern might have gotten good money for a player approaching his 30s with 1 year on his contract and possible fitness issues in corona times.

It's their Dennis Suárez. Only bigger, more expensive and more embarrassing-damaging.

He should be exactly what Liverpool need right now. Teams have figured them out; their long balls down the channels and over top aren't working anymore, so having someone who can dictate from the middle should go some way to giving them an alternative route to goal. That's the theory, but it's just not working. We get fleeting looks at his class, but for whatever reason - perhaps it the pace of the league - he can't do what's needed for very long. Long may it continue!

When he's finally decided what he's going to do with the ball, he looks classy. But it seems to take him in age to actually reach that decision.

And when he's out of possession and up against someone even fairly mobile, he looks like he's running in wellies.

Fans are so reactionary. He's was never that good all of a sudden. Give me a break.
He's in a new league. More importantly, he's not a Klopp midfielder imo. Klopp is all about transitions into the wide areas. That's not Thiago's game.
He would have been the perfect DM for us imo.
Agree.

Top player, but he's been gash and I don't see him as a Klopp player whatsoever. Bit of a bizarre signing, much like VdB was for us. Both may come good with time, mind.

One of umpteenth signing from Bundesliga who can't quite hack it in the PL. Let's see if he can in the future.

So many expensive flops from Bundesliga in last few seasons. Haller for £40m, Joelinton for £40m, Keita for £55m. Werner at £60m and Havertz at £80m look like a waste too as of now.
