City win the League + CL (disgusting)
Chelsea get 2nd (proof of importance of established coach)
Liverpool creep back into top 4 (revolting)
West Ham take 4th under our former manager. (This would be awful)
Spurs win the EL and so get CL football.

This would be enough to make me cancel all tv subscriptions and find a new sport like birdwatching.
You took my nightmare scene and made it into a full blown horror movie. Thanks  Going to have a shower now. I honestly forgot Spurs are still in EL. Jose and Moyes getting in over us is vomit inducing. Added to that, Vangle will probably rock up on TV to point out where it all went wrong:lol:

Bit dramatic mate , it was an opinion on Man Utd and it’s current state, not about the world ending , ya big drama queen
True, but pretty depressing to take that view.

Cannot fecking believe we’ve being dragged in to the top 4 battle when we had at least top 2 in our hands,

The Sheffield result, the Everton result and WB result are sickening, it’s like when we sat pretty at the top of the group in the UCL and all we had to do was beat Istanbul I think to qualify and somehow managed to f*ck that up and then ended up going out of the group, I jus have this horrible feeling after sitting at the top of the PL and all the hype it caused we will find a way to not even finish top 4

it’s classic Manchester United, this is what we’ve become
I agree - for all the positives of Ole's tenure so far, installing a winning/hardened mentality is certainly not one of them. We prefer to be underdogs, upstarts - as soon as there's been a hint of expectation, we crumble.

Is it?

Do this @Wilt and post your result: https://www.leaguetablecalculator.com

I can't see a scenario where United don't make top 4, even when I'm harsh with the predictions. It likely won't be a points total or wins total to write home about but top 4 nonetheless.
But is that good enough, I don't mean for the board, it will be for them, but personally I wanted us to build and improve on last season, if we scrape top 4 that's massively underwhelming.

No.

I love Ole, but if we carry on playing as we have in the last month or two and end up just about scraping top 4 then no it's not good enough.

No. We should be comfortably second and they should take a long think about oles future in the summer if we get pulled back into a top 4 fight.

My local bookie will testify that I‘m certainly no guru when it comes to predicting football results. But I do think Utd have one of the toughest run in‘s. However, the main point in Utd’s favour is that they are already top 4 and as such don’t need to overhaul anyone.

Prior to today’s City game, the bookies take the view....
Utd 1/4 to finish top 4.
Utd 5/4 favourite to finish second to Man City.

Although, the only predictable thing this season is that‘s it’s unpredictable.

Good chance we are only a point or two ahead of fourth by Monday.

Ideally need Chelsea and Everton to draw

Some feck up by Ole and the lads to have brought us back to this position.

We really need the result tomorrow.
See? Pays to wait and see before panic sets in.

City 1st, Chelsea/United 2nd and 3rd so... 4th place between Everton and Leicester?

I had a sneaky feeling Liverpool might have put a run together toward the end of the season but it doesn't look like it at all :D They seriously will have to win 8 or 9 of their last 10 games to have a chance.

It's down to everton and spurs as our rivals for top 4 spot then, can't see liverpool in the race now and it would be unreal if somehow united under ole finishes below a team managed by moyes, that right there would be a sackable offence.

Its actually a bit refreshing that a team out of west ham, Leicester and Everton have a great chance to potentially be in the champions league next season.

I don't follow? Not panicking just identifying what has happened
You were basing a very negative post around us losing and Liverpool catching us up to a probable 5 point difference.
Nothing is probable this season so its a waste of energy getting down over something that hasnt happened yet

You replying to the correct post? I was discussing Chelsea and Everton catching us.

Chelsea are definitely in better for so very possible. And Everton even have a game in hand

I literally don't mention Liverpool in my post.

And the thing in disappointed over is our disgraceful form these past few months which has in fact happened.

Huge and unexpected three points. A Chelsea-Everton draw tomorrow would leave things looking a bit better than they have in the last week.

Hopefully today has woken us up and got us out of this funk. Big game coming up vs West Ham before the break.

Superb day of results, which gives Liverpool a hell of a job to get above us.

Just need to back this up with a couple of wins to put those below us off.

That feels like such a bonus three points because I didn't expect them at the start of the day.

We just need to keep doing our business and winning the games we should.

A draw at Stamford Bridge tomorrow and a win against West Ham would pretty much wrap it up. Can't see us losing out if those two things happen.

We're 11 points ahead of Liverpool. A 44-point turnaround compared to last season.

Still some big games vs Spurs, Liverpool, Villa and Leicester (as well as West Ham). Hopefully this match has shaken us from our slumber (if the "two wins in eight games" United turns up in those fixtures, we're going to struggle). If we can keep playing like we did today, we should be OK.

Bit wild to see people say its done now. All the top 4 hopefuls including us are going to be dropping plenty more points.
Exactly everyone will drop points yet people shit the bed like it's just us

Huge 3 points, still not done yet though. Teams will drift in and out of form for the rest of the season, we just need to make sure we keep picking up points. Getting Pogba back in the team will be vital in the run in.

Yeah, I don't mean it's done - a win against West Ham certainly isn't a foregone conclusion.

But we have a decent cushion and a bunch of inconsistent challengers. Winning five or six out of ten should be enough and doable.

I just re-did my predictor and I have us on 78 points, I think this win was so huge to break that poor record against the top sides and stop the slump. I think it’ll start a superb run of results

80 points or close would be very very good indeed.

My table:

City 89
United 78
Chelsea 74
Leicester 70
Everton 69

Liverpool in 8th on 62 pts.
