The thing about it is the contract length is irrelevant. If we gave Ole a 10 year deal everyone knows he'd be out if we failed to make the Champions League. The players know that too. Fortunately they like and respect him enough to keep him in a job.Fergie signed three five-year contracts with United.
After he u-turned on his retirement in 2001, and after a heart scare, he went to rolling one-years.. But at that stage there was no doubting who was boss... so it could work.
It wouldn't work with Ole now though. It wouldn't make sense. We need to show the dressing-room who is boss, not 'he might go in the summer if you lot don't pull your socks up.' That would never have been the case with Fergie from 2001 onwards.
Well, not the players now. You are absolutely right. There is no doubt our dressing-room is together since Ole came in. 100% - Ole has done a stunning man-management job.The thing about it is the contract length is irrelevant. If we gave Ole a 10 year deal everyone knows he'd be out if we failed to make the Champions League. The players know that too. Fortunately they like and respect him enough to keep him in a job.
Every time his tenure has been questioned they've stepped up and delivered big results. I don't think they need to be shown who the boss is. They're clearly playing for Ole. The clearest indication the club can give the players that its behind the boss is getting the players he's asked for. I don't think any of them would be unnerved/emboldened by Ole being on a rolling deal.
He needs to finish in the top 4 first!Fully deserves a new deal
Most players in their prime years are better than ever. He was excellent the season his suffered the leg break, so what if it was only a few games?Did very very well under van Gaal? First season unde LvG he was in and out of the team, LvG even critizised him about lack of comitment. He played 20 games inn all competitions that season. Second season under LvG Shaw started fatastic but was injured in mid september and played 8 games in all competitions that season. How could that be playing "very very well"?
Shaw has never been better than what he is now. Clearly most of the credit should go to Shaw himself, but the manager and cocaching team that is now has obviously helped him.
Nah, it will be a lifelong contract. You do know that a straight 6 year contract is more secure than 5+1 also, right?I bet the next contract Ole's secures will be a five-year plus one deal. Or, such is his dedication to our club, it may well just be a flat out six yearer. It's not as if, even if he leads us to great glory, Real Madrid or any other club on the planet is gonna tempt him away, so the club won't need the security of the plus one.
I read £9 mill a season somewhere when he was taken on. By contrast Mourinho was reported to get £15 mill a season when he was taken on and VG £12 mill. Dont know what Moyes got, but you can bet the same as VG.Do we know - from reliable sources - what sort of money Ole is on?
My impression is that he's on far less than Maureen. Possibly less than LVG too.
United seems to be alone of the last of big clubs that regularly hands out long term contracts for poor performance and goes out of their way to be patient with managers for rewards that never seem to materialize.Commitment and stability, as signified by the contract extension, would be a good thing for United.
Yes we were so patient with everyone since SAF retired. Much patient. Wow. WOWUnited seems to be alone of the last of big clubs that regularly hands out long term contracts for poor performance and goes out of their way to be patient with managers for rewards that never seem to materialize.
How soon before someone replies with "if they had fired fergie in his first few seasons......."
Yes, it's working so well too. Couldn't ask for more really.Yes we were so patient with everyone since SAF retired. Much patient. Wow. WOW
Yes you are awful in front of goal - but if you look at the goals Brighton give away - it's simply awful defending time and time again.Sorry can't let this pass! we actually defend very well, we 've conceded less goals than Liverpool this season and only 3 more than you. I am very happy with our defence, as a unit they work very well together and individually there's is a reason why Dunk is often linked with big 6 clubs as is White.
We create masses of chances, we have just been awful this season at finishing them off, the last three games have been so ainful to watch as we have without doubt been the better team and yet have lost despite it. I amloathe to blame anything on luck in football, but our recent run of of luck has been awful! Having said that I do not think Potter is ready for a team like United, but I do think he is an excellent manager in terms of tactics, understanding of the game and man management.
That's more like it!
91% chance we will according to the dataHe needs to finish in the top 4 first!
I think, success and structure are very much connected in this case. Without success your structure will not remain over time. Without structure success most likely will be a fluke.Manchester Uniteds success and entire identity is built around the concept of the academy and the Boss in charge. What impatient fans want is immediate everything and to hell with everything the club stands for, just buy everyone.
Ah yes, let's sack our "out of his depth" manager who has only won two titles in Norway and bring in the manager who *checks notes* has won one title in SwedenNo meme. For starters, watch his Brighton team’s performance against Palace last week. They lost, but they absolutely peppered Palace and ought to have won 3 or 4-0. They had 25 shots to 3.
Compare that to what we are doing now and have a look at this post I made just now.
Can you really disagree with any of this?

Jumping the gun yet again, at least wait until the end of the season to see where we’re at, because if we continue our current form things could turn pretty ugly.Tweet

2 losses in our last 26 games, dreadful form.Jumping the gun yet again, at least wait until the end of the season to see where we’re at, because if we continue our current form things could turn pretty ugly.
We are in bad form since mid Jan tbf mate. Dropped a lot of points.2 losses in our last 26 games, dreadful form.
Surely give it to him when the season is done.Fully deserves a new contract, think he’s done a really good job so far.
Really good on what metric? I'd say Klopp has done a really good to phenomenal job at Liverpool for example. He's won them their first title in decades along with a CL. Just wondering when people claim Ole is doing a really good job what standards we're talking about here.Fully deserves a new contract, think he’s done a really good job so far.
