I can't see them shifting him on for a massive loss after one season. He's obviously on a huge contract too so his options would be limited. Madrid are best seeing how he fares next season.
The end of this season would be two full seasons. A third season like this and they'd probably have to just cancel his contract or send him on loan somewhere.

Jeez, I thought this was his first season there for some reason.

Absolutely no surprise he has flopped in Spain, something I predicted and the injuries are just being used as an excuse now.

Wanted to pick up on some points from previous pages;

World cup 2018 - Chelsea fan actually claimed he was the best player at WC 2018. Just one of numerous comments to backup how overrated this guy is. Before someone starts hyping him getting 2nd in the best player award, do one, Forlan won it over Sneijder and Villa and Messi winning in 2014 was a joke as well. These awards are often based on popularity and hold little merit. That WC was woeful but even at that if you believe someone who scored 2 goals against Tunisia(one being a penalty) and a third goal in a friendly third place play-off was deserving of best player, you're either biased or need help. On actual performances he didn't even deserve top 5. Hazard won the EL POTY as well when he started about 4 games in the competition, these awards are a joke.

Flat track bully - Whilst he was not completely a flat track bully his record against the top 6 is overstated. 9 were penalties, another was from a penalty rebound. He also played over 80 games against those sides. Giroud has 20 goals against the same sides, he a big game superstar as well then?

Champions league - 9 CL goals in 53 games. 5 are penalties. Of the 4 non penalty goals, one was at home to Maribor in the 90th minute in a 6-0 win. Another was an 87th minute goal in a 3 nil win against Schalke. The only time he did anything of note at the highest level in football was the 2 goals in the 3-3 game vs Roma. He's the only player I can think of who's disastrous CL performances and return is completely ignored.

PL great - Will Hazard be classed as a PL great, yes. Is he near the top in regards to comparing all the PL greats? Not a chance. Hazard will always be a talented player who never showed near enough at the top level whilst also going missing in seasons. Says it all that his best season was 18/19 and when you dig deep into his return you find that 25 of his 31 goals/assists were against the bottom 10 sides it gives merit that he was more of a flat track bully than people like to admit. Dig a little deeper than those 6 against top 10 sides include an overhit pass that landed to Kante vs City and a corner in the same game. One against Wolves was a deflected goal from a simple Hazard pass to RLC.

To conclude Hazard was a talented player, but he was not consistently world class in my eyes, his CL and European career is weak. His International career is hardly stellar either. Will always be overrated to me when people claim he was top 3 in the world, my own cousin once claimed he was BPITW ahead of Ronaldo and Messi, jesus christ! In 20 years time nobody will be looking back and claiming Hazard was better than the likes of Robben, Ribery or even Neymar or up there as one of the best, which shows he's not near as good as PL fans especially Chelsea ones believe.

So challenging your ignoranc is "seeking your approval" now is it?

Weren't you similarly targeting the German posters (with personal attacks) the other day?
You are forever approval seeking. Even in the above conversation you brought in another poster to discuss Silva v Maguire. It's very cute even if rather insecure.

You seem to make a habit of it until it all goes pear shaped for you like it did in the Football COVID thread last year.

That is a LOT of work, going back over 3 years to just to disagree with an unnamed Chelsea fan’s opinions. Doth protest too much IMO.

Why?

Giggs wins for longevity. But Hazard has better stats (and a player of the year) in a worse team.
Because a players longevity in top football in a great team is a much better indicator of quality in a player than a brief stints of great football in a team built around you. Stats are irrelevant when you compare a 4-4-2 left midfieder with a 4-3-3 winger.

And when you take away the fact that he has more titles himself than Chelsea has won in their entire history, maybe then you could say that Hazard can be in the same league as Giggs.

Just like the German posters and anyone else who dares challenges you. The only common denominator in all this supposed "approval seeking" is you.

Near enough everything I said turned out to be totally right while everything you said turned out to be totally wrong (come to think of it was this when your vendetta against the German posters started?). Even after a void was ruled out you still kept banging on about it.

I don't have to paint anything. It's widely accepted from everyone with a brain that Giggs is on his own more legendary than chelsea

So now you're trying to divert this thread again. Sigh. Do I need to remind you to keep on topic? What is it with people not following Caf etiquette today!

This is about Hazard. You brought up Maguire, Fred, Silva, Kante.. infact you always seem to pop up when anyone dare to not praise Chelsea. It's been mentioned before and not by me. Just relax. You don't need to prove yourself or your club to anyone. We know.

You do realise you're the one who started talking about the Covid football thread?

Haven't mentioned Fred or Kante once today, although I'm not surprised by you spreading more misinformation.

I read Hazard had no shots on target vs Brazil, vs France in that world cup 2018

Highlighted the word silly, because that is EXACTLY what your post is.

Are you seriously hyping up Hazard doing dribbles which led to no productivity?

If you wanna 'hype' up a dribble then mention Lukakus which actually LED to a goal.

Hazard was not involved in either goal or did anything productive bar winning fouls. Only in England can you get praised for winning fouls. Neymar gets slated for similar.

Where was he against France or Japan?

What I'm taking from this thread is that Chelsea fans are as bad as any other fanbase in overrating their own players, well maybe a bit worse after reading the posts about Giggs.

I never said I wanted people to agree with me, I disagreed with what some people were saying and countered it accordingly. It wasn't until you and a couple of others started acting like schoolchildren that this thread derailed (and yes admittedly I probably didn't help things once the horse bolted).

When people start saying things that are untrue (like Hazard was a flat track bully) then I will happily point out that's it's a load of rubbish.

Also I've defended opposition players against unfair critisism aswell, namely Firmino and Van De Beek and I also agreed with a United poster who critisised Kante's form last season but ofcourse that doesn't suit this narrative you're trying to build so.....

I think they may be overrating or embellishing his influence to some extent but there is also definitely some underrating or rewriting history to diminish his influence going on too. This entire thread has turned into quite the car crash today.

You derailed it by trying to be smart by tagging other posters and mentioning Harry Maguire. Very silly, childish thing to do. Next you'll be doing your usual trick of comparing our starting XIs.

Anyway @Mark_Barca has summed things up rather well if you care to pass some relevant, on topic, comments? Ta.

Two season's he delivered a 30 plus goal return despite not being the main penalty taker.

Two others he lead the line for teams that (at the time) broke the PL points record and followed up with the joint second best tally.

One other he granted had a quiet league campaign but delivered clutch moments in a CL win (FA Cup too).

One other he got struck down by a deadly illness.

He had only two genuinely average season's and even then scored in finals both times.

You're right he wasn't regaurly stat padding at the Stadium of Light but when trophies were on the line he almost always delivered.
I acknowledged that he delivered in big games but so did Rooney.

I believe Rooney has most goals scored for the club against our main rivals.

Rooney is a PL great, a Goliath of the league, only Shearer with more PL goals and Rooney didn’t always play as a no 9. He was also pivotal in our build up.

Drogba was part of an excellent team that was built towards him as the focal point, designed to get him goals, excellent in big games but in my opinion was also regularly at times quiet when you consider it overall.

Still an absolute beast of a striker and one of the best strikers the league has seen, but a level below Rooney in every department except heading (and even then Rooney had one season where he scored a crazy amount of headers, can’t remember what season it was.)

Peak Drogba was better than peak Rooney. I don’t think you will ever find one Striker completely overpower entire defenses on his own and help so much defensively. (Just my opinion) but Tevez was better than Rooney too.

Also I never cared for Bale, he scored a lot and he was quick but I personally never saw him score the individually brilliant goals Hazard scored. A few long range efforts here and there but not completely breaking Defensive lines like Hazard.
Drogba over Rooney? Nah mate.

Also, never broke defensive lines?

I mean? I've never seen Hazard score any goal better than Bale has scored.

Well this thread is a car crash, reminds me why I have certain posters on ignore.
As for Hazard it’s a shame what’s happened to him , one of the best players I’ve ever seen play at Anfield, one of the few who regularly turned up and ripped us a new one.

There’s plenty of great PL players and each sides fans are going to have their own biases.
Four goals and an assist in thirteen PL apps?

I agree, peak Drogba was better than peak Rooney. Rooney was precocious, but he ended way under the benchmark set by most experts. Though I am a United fan, I knew Rooney could have been better. Drogba was a great player at Marseille even before joining Chelsea.

Don't go bringing logic into the discussion

The only people who rate Hazard that highly are Chelsea fans, I mean surely no one needs me to point out the obvious reason behind this

Good player undoubtedly, a PL great? Not for me. Talking Chelsea players only Cech, Terry, Lampard they're PL greats
I fully agree, he was obviously a very good player but I would say he is about 2 ranks down from the level that some are rating him in this thread. The response I received was that the only possible way that you can't rate Hazard as the second best winger to ever play in the league is if you only care about stat padding (AKA scoring goals).

Imagine if Ronaldo never realised that scoring goals is pretty helpful to be a great attacking player in 2006 and everyone jumped down the throat of anyone who suggested that a few more goals would have been pretty great.

There were people on this forum who used to think he was better than Neymar.

You can argue Salah was better than Hazard ever was in the Prem.

What's the point in watching matches if the sum of your analysis comes down to goal contributions.

Anyone that watched the Brazil vs Belgium game could see Hazard was by far the MOTM in that game. Him winning those fouls, is what kept Belgium ahead. Lukaku could barely keep hold of the ball in the second half and when Hazard moved to CF, he showed world class ability in hold up play and getting Belgium up the pitch.

Productivity is not limited to goals and assists.

Peak Drogba was better than peak Rooney. I don’t think you will ever find one Striker completely overpower entire defenses on his own and help so much defensively. (Just my opinion) but Tevez was better than Rooney too.
Both Drogba and Rooney's peak came in the same year in the same league and Rooney won player of the season. Drogba also had a bang average scoring record throughout his career for an "all time great" striker.

Tevez was nowhere near that level. He had 2 or 3 worthwhile seasons in his career. None of them were at Utd and he would not have won half the trophies he won if Henrik Larsson was not such a man of his word.
