This was always gonna happen. Mourinho didn't take enough of a break to evaluate his methods of another era. I know he did some punditry for BeInSports and you would think it would have given a new way of thinking his approach to the game but he is who he is

He's been a has been for years. I wonder which club will be stupid enough to throw the wallet at him next year.

I really dislike his football, his attitude, the way he throws players under the bus, which he’s usually parked himself, and yet, for some annoying reason, he still manages to charm me like a girl who likes bad boys. The smirk on his face when he said the fact his teams drop points from winning positions is a compliment to how he sets his teams up elicited a wry smile from me.

I like the contrast between those who manage to see straight through Mourinho's attempt at deflection, and those that go "THE HOBBIT SAID WHAT!!??!?!" and call Ole a hypocrite. Firstly, Ole didn't criticise diving, he criticised acting injured for several minutes, complete with medical team on the pitch and everything. Secondly, good job getting suckered into focusing on something other than how shit Spurs were, you easily distracted idiots.
Also, is Ole Gollum or a Hobbit? He seems to be called both...and that’s just terrible middle earth lore

End of the season Jose is gone Id imagine, I dont see them winning the League Cup. Id imagine the objective was top four, priority one, and a trophy would have been icing on the cake. He has achieved neither, and Spurs look shambolic, done as a top level manager Id imagine, national team next?

As for Spurs, they need a rebuild, needed a rebuild when Poch was there tbf, invest the Kane and Son money in new young hungry players.

They are going to be easily bypassed by Man City playing style, that will make sure they will barely get into the final third of the pitch. It was always a bad match, to be honest. Can't tell what were Spurs thinking when they hired Mourinho.
The biggest problem is not being outdated: is having an ego so large that cant' handle the fact his best days are past now.

You either retire a winner, or keep going long enough to see yourself become a specialist in failure.
THere's always a chance you can reinvent yourself, by delegating more work, attending crash courses to get new knowledge, etc...
But his ego didn't let him face his destiny.

I hope Levy has to keep him around as a result of the compensation needed to fire him. And then in the summer he goes out and gets Fellaini in. The meltdown by their fans would just be glorious. I can see it now !

Find me a manager who has ever evaluated their methods and changed their way of thinking? I can only think of one in my lifetime; SAF. Even St. Pep's only method of change is to find an even bigger chequebook.

For someone to erinvent themselves one needs to be humble enough to accept they need more knowledge, attend courses etc. Usually big managers come with big egos, so it never happens.

It was an odd analogy for OGS to use re his son.

But Mourinho has just done what Mourinho does. Latch on to something to create a stir and deflect from the fact that he lost. The story becomes about him having a paddy rather than a poor performance/defeat

A case could be made that since Gollum was basically a proto-hobbit that he could be included in the term.

The feck are we on about?

There is no need to re evaluate when you still zre successful. Jose has stopped being that.

Have a read of the spurs fans forums, yesterdays match thread, they hate Jose.
Jose is a bully, he seems to love falling out with players and not playing some of his best talent..
look how he tried to ruin Luke Shaw and look to how well shaw is playing now. He even tried it with Pogba.
the guys an egotistical bully. His days at Spurs are numbered. The games evolved and you Jose has not..
Levy was crazy sacking Poch

I think there is a significant enough distinction between Smeagol and Gollum that we can rule that out. If they were calling Ole Smeagol however....

Pep has changed and adapted though, to both the players he inherited (the good ones at least) and the style of play in both Germany and England.

His main principles are the same but he has progressed and is still playing winning football.

Mourinho's issue as I see it is that he used to be an ultra pragmatist and would do whatever it took to win, if that meant parking the bus and 'shit on a stick' football then so be it. Whereas now he's become wedded to that conservative approach, even when it has no hope of bringing success.

He has Spurs playing terrible and negative football, spending a silly amount of money on a disinterested players huge contract and out of the top 4. They're probably paying him a lot as well.

They should hired a progressive coach to build on Pochettino's work.

According to the transfer gossip thread the Daily Mail are reporting he wants to bring back Fellaini

I really hope he keeps his job somehow

" I hope he dies, as Levy won't sack this this scumbag ":eek: I don't remember it getting this bad on the Caf

Combination of Jose going straight to meltdown and becoming toxic along with his Chelsea ties made an open season on him. It never become that bad here and even until the very end he had few supporters.

Although, if you put that post aside, it is pretty hilarious read.

I think he might end up at Wolves due to the Mendes connection.

In hindsight they made a huge mistake only backing Pochettino when he'd already started to lose the dressing room, he should've been allowed to get rid of the ones who didn't want to be there, instead Levy dug his heels in and kept unhappy players at the club which led to Pochettino's downfall.

Smeagol who changed into the creatue Gollum was a Stoor which is a race of Hobbits

Didn't realise Sissoko was playing until the 80+minute. I thought that was the sub that killed the game for Spurs. They lost control of the midfield after Lo Ceslo came off. They defended deeper and resorted to hopeful punts and long through balls which our defenders mopped up with ease.

Ah I see soemone got there before me

Mourinho’s classic distraction tactics have worked once again, the media are always more than happy to bite.

The comments about Spurs’ fitness are interesting. I remember us being exactly the same when he was here, we looked like the least fit team in the league. It’s very odd for a manager who historically emphasises well-drilled and hard working over flair.

Not a chance he'll be at Spurs next season. The likes of the Telegraph and Athletic have reported they have a very unhappy dressing room so there's not going to be much hope from the Spurs board that he can turn it around and they're going to miss out on CL football. The writing has been on the wall for a while.

No chance. I feel England are way past pining for Mourinho
If clubs did their basic research we would have been his last big job.

Genuinely wouldn't rule out another club being that stupid, Arsenal and England have the type of incompetent decision makers that would actually appoint him.

The stuff in the athletic article about trusting his gut over sports science is both damning and the explanation for his fall

Football has changed, everywhere things improved, everyone who works in it now is much better than they were 15 years ago.

Everyone, except Mourinho. He's an analog clock in the digital era

England might be, Arsenal not a chance, they might make stupid decisions, but I don't believe they would want to employ a manager that stands for Mou's approach to football, that just would not fit the club.

More like a sundial

Can't be long before he falls out with Levy. Amazing those two haven't done so already.
Levy is known as a great businessman but he regularly fecks up transfer deals that are horrensous in hindsight and hangs on to players for too long under the guise of being a tough negotiator

Hello

Spurs fan in peace.

After the inevitable happened yesterday I popped on here to see what was being said and it warmed the cockles to see a 146 page sack watch thread about Mourinho. You understand our pain.

We are sick of him. Many of us didn't want him in the first place after what he did with you and how he left Chelsea.

I decided to join after seeing Monks_United post above about the fan meltdown if we buy Fellani and he stays in the summer - we as fans are already beyond that. There is huge fan apathy now. He has already delivered 3 league collapses in his time at Spurs, got knocked out the FA cup at home to relegated Norwich, put out of the Europa League after being 3 goals up and we are currently on a run of 25 points in 19 games which is 47 points over a 38 game season. This is a side that was in the Champions League Final 2 seasons ago.

The guy is a toxic dinosaur and Daniel Levy is to blame for sacking a progressive talented manager who was the envy of many for this poisonous relic. We are just waiting to be allowed back in the ground to start singing **** off Mourinho at the earliest opportunity. City will rip us to shreds in two weeks in the final, we have no doubt about that one either.

Knowing Levy and his stubbornness, it could well be that we are stuck with him for next season but we as fans will have our singing voices ready. It won't be "attack attack attack" like you lot, it will be "f*** off out of our club you Chelsea ****".

A word on Harry Kane, 3 years left on his £200k deal, you remember the Berbatov saga? Times it by 10. Levy will want over £150m. I can't see Levy sanctioning any move to anyone to be honest. Harry is not one to go on strike so I can't see him leaving this year but we'll see.

Good luck in Europe.
