His first touch, passing is so good. So important in the build up play.
That pass to Rashford in the buildup to our penalty. Absolutely brilliant, Scholes-esque.
And he does that regularly. I dare say the consistency in his passing range is perhaps only matched by Pogba in our team.
The best LB in the world right now. Period.
And to make things better, even AWB is coming along nicely which is helping us a lot.

Hands up who's not surprised he's playing like this?

*raises hand*

Thank God José didn't get his way in replacing him with Danny Rose.

Apart from Liverpool, he walks into every other team in the world right now. Davies is still learning and has had a average season so don't come with that.

Really cool how he silently morphed into the English version of Roberto Carlos.

I love that he looks to pick out somebody when he goes attacking
Not just cross and hope but when the situation calls for it, it's a pass or cut back like the one Cavani skied over

With regards to performances he's been our best player this season

Yeah, FBs have improved a lot. Shaw is proper playmaker, he goes to byline and plays good crosses, cut backs to players in good position. Also he moves centrally and doesn't look out of playing playing next to Pogba when it comes to technical ability. Such a great player.

When people see Shaw and Wan Bissaka improve - do they still believe the coaching is crap?

Literally 3/4 of the squad has improved.

He's the best fullback in the league. Would not take Cancelo it Robertson over him.

I actually can't believe how consistently good he's been, yet it still feels like everyone else underrates him. You just watch Southgate pick fecking Chilwell over him this summer.

Seems like a lot of people already said it, but best left back in the world at the moment? I’m floored by how good he’s got. I always knew he was a top talent and much better than being written off by Mourinho, but these days it’s like he owns the left side of the pitch. Just immense, congrats to him. Should be player of the year.

I'd say so, not even sure it's a debate at this point. Like yourself I've always backed his ability, but the level he's gone up to has absolutely floored me this season. On this years form he walks in to the left back position at all four of the teams in the CL semis quite comfortably.

His offensive numbers have gone up which is great to see, but his touch, dribbling, pace and passing allows him to start attacks for us almost at will... And defensively he's as good as any. Ridiculous player.

Genuine question, how many players in the league have a stronger argument for player of the season?

Dias or Gundogan have been great and they have a title attached to their performances which always helps, despite it being an individual award. Kane’s has a monster season individually despite how crap Spurs have been while Grealish was definitely in the mix up until his injury, but he’s been out for too long now I feel.

Shaw’s definitely matched them all for me. Just a shame we haven’t been able to convert his consistent creativity into goals more often.

We all love United
Opposition players are now bouncing off him as he bulldozes his way on the left wing with pace and grace

He carries on like this, he’s going to be better than peak Evra

I'm actually in disbelief how he shrugs off players constantly. His passing is also Scholes-esque right now, those outside of the boot ones are just disgustingly good.

The long wait. Happy that we stuck with him. One of the best young players who had some horrible injuries. Look what patience can bring .

No one would have complained if he was actually sold couple of years ago. Got to give credit to club in trusting him.

Technically he's honestly up there with our best players. He played a ridiculous ball to Rashford yesterday that literally made my jaw drop

Shaw is just in beast mode at the minute. He’ll receive the ball in a bad position, at a difficult angle with players on his back and then just one touch his way nonchalantly out of trouble and then glide upfield. His passing range has grown massively and he just looks like he's a level above everyone he faces. Sadly, as a left back he isnt going to get the recognition he deserves.

Playing Chilwell in the Euros now must surely be a sackable offense for Southgate.

Can he play in midfield instead of McTominay? Play Telles on the left. The sum of it may be better than what is going on right now.

I’m telling you, he’s actually Maldini good to me right now. As high a praise as I can give. He reminds me of Paolo, in that every facet of his game is top notch and there is an effortlessness to it. Obviously, sustaining it is a challenge, but this season has been as good as I’ve seen for a long time. He’s gone to Anfield and the Etihad and dominated his entire area of the pitch. He’s pocketed top forwards and then bullied them going the other way too. Great touch, passing and even shooting now.

That last bit is nonsense. TAA was widely recognized as a top player and almost like a playmaker when doing it for Liverpool from RB. Shaw will be get similar plaudits. Only way to get more attention is to win big trophies.

Bruno and Shaw have been equally good for us this season in my opinion, but when everyone’s talking about who the best player in the league is at the end of the season, Bruno will be the player in the conversation, not Shaw. Goal scorers and goal creators always find it easier to get recognised for what they do.

Shaw has improved tremendously. I think he is now a better player even in midfield than either Fred or McTominay. I would like to see him play as a midfield player with Telles on the left. I feel as a team we will play better even though we may be blunting our left side a bit. He has got a lot of pace too and can shoot from range too. As for being on the same level as Evra, he needs to get his heading a lot better in attack. Evra was always a threat in the air even if he didn't score.

Defensively, Shaw is much better at air duels than Evra was, which was actually one of Pat's weaknesses, in my opinion. So it kind of evens out.

I do wonder what would Shaw's value be currently. Would we sell for a £100 million?

That's not the same as not being recognized. VVD was in the Ballon d'or shortlist. That's plenty recognition even if he didn't win it.

We're not a selling club so it's not useful to ask what we'd sell for. What would he cost us to buy? It wouldn't be as high as that because only forwards or goalscoring midfielders go for that sort of money. But I think we'd probably have to match the £75m record fee for a defender Liverpool paid for VVD.

VVD stood out because it’s so rare to see a defender on that list. That attackers win more plaudits and awards than defenders is not arguable.
