Without knowing the intent of our financial output this summer, it's hard to know if this is good news or not for me. And the same applies to Cavani's contract.
My suspicion is that I'm really not expecting us to spend much on signings this summer - less than we have in the other windows under Ole. So I guess it's better that we get to keep the players if we want to, as we obviously did, rather than lose them and create extra, unplanned transfers to deal with.
If we're not planning on making any big money signings to bring in proven quality - like Varane, Haaland, etc - then we might as well try to just tie down our existing players, like Bailly and Cavani, to new deals as they won't need any settling in time next season and would be able to contribute from the start (injuries permitting) - rather than bringing in players like VDB and Amad who spend the season acclimatising.
Ideally, we really need at least a couple of quality signings in certain positions, and CB was one. But if we do make those signings in some other positions - DM, RW, #9 - then I'm happy enough to keep Bailly and Tuanzebe as the 3rd and 4th choice options for another season.
