Not good enough
Perhaps Ole has just been reading too many redcafe posts from the past 3 or 4 years which got him to be obsessive about "ball playing defenders" . Lindelof has improved in that area this season and could be nominated as our most effective user of the ball from CB because of how many good long passes he's used to get the likes of Rashford in behind the defence. But he's not a solid defender and in my opinion theres no reason why our DM can't be playing those passes Lindelof has played, while a better defender defends at CB. Makes no sense to me to have it the other way roundI just dont see why Ole persists. All this talk of £100m+ for Sancho, £80m for Sancho, where a CB partner for Maguire should be #1 on the list.
It will never end. CAF obviously want someone aggressive and reckless instead. One poor game after several good games and he is shit again.
Who was?Not his best game, but the first goal was not his fault. His rating in the match thread is a joke. He was not our worst player. At all.
Easily McTominay. But Victor was bottom-three bad this game. That is most unusual.Who was?
You dont think Lindelof's defending was reckless today? Reckless touch set up the goal and reckless when he got outmuscled and AWB had to clear the ball at the back post near the endIt will never end. CAF obviously want someone aggressive and reckless instead.
Crazy. How long did it take to integrate Bruno, Henderson or Cavani?I get that most here think he is not good enough, but to be honest in the current market there is no way we can sell him and buy another one. Its been years the manager has spent integrating him and there is no way you just get rid of him. For better or for worse he is staying in the team for the next few years and we will have to hope that the coaching staff work on cutting out his errors!
It's not most unusual. Utd have been playing well so usually, everyone has a good game. Lindelof would typically be in the bottom 3 performers along with Fred and maybe McTominay but that doesn't mean they are bad players. They are just not as good as the others.Easily McTominay. But Victor was bottom-three bad this game. That is most unusual.
It was. You don't give the ball back to attacker after you've got a touch in your own box. The strike was phenomenal and quite unexpected from that angle, but he shouldn't have had the ball in the first place. Not his best game, but the first goal was not his fault. His rating in the match thread is a joke. He was not our worst player. At all.
He persists as he's our second best choice, Ole can't magic new players into the club.I just dont see why Ole persists. All this talk of £100m+ for Sancho, £80m for Sancho, where a CB partner for Maguire should be #1 on the list.
If it was a good turn Lindelof wouldnt have got there first with the chance to clear it. Traore overdid the touch and Lindelof gave it back to him in a position where he could shootDon't think he was at fault for the goal. It was a good turn by Traore and he overextended in the getting the tackle in. It wasn't strong enough to remove the threat entirely but the only option for Traore then was really to produce a wonderstrike.
Was very poor defending for the Watkins' chance though.
I think that's my opinion too. I don't think any of them are bad players, all of them are good, no doubt about it, and I'd happily keep them all at the club. I think they happen to be the most obviously upgradable starters. It's just a natural side effect when you're team is on a serious upward trajectory, like ours has been over the last 2.5 years, that players who aren't as good as the others begin to stand out. It's not most unusual. Ud have been playing well so usually, everyone has a good game. Lindelof would typically be in the bottom 3 performers along with Fred and maybe McTominay but that doesn't mean they are bad players. I understand your frustration. But comparing Bruno Cavani is unfair. They both make plenty of mistakes but they do not get punished, but for a defender one mistake is enough to be set on fire by fans. As far as Thiago Silva is concerned you are absolutely right, but he was exposed under their previous manager. We can follow the Chelsea model of buying and dumping players/managers but something tells me United are much more accomplished than that. That sort of management is not sustainable for a club like United and I agree. But you are absolutely right, some players do make instant impact, sadly Victor is not one of them.Crazy. How long did it take to integrate Bruno, Henderson or Cavani?
How about Chelsea and Thiago Silva, now in the champions league final? Ruben Dias at City?
It was a sharp turn and executed quicky but Lindelof read the turn and therefore was able to reach it. He should have went in harder to put Traore off-balance. That's really the only thing that could remove the goal threat entirely. If it was a good turn Lindelof wouldnt have got there first with the chance to clear it. Exactly. I'd be very happy to keep them all in the squad but they're upgradable.I think that's my opinion too. He had the ball. All he had to do was kick the ball out of play or get a better contact on the ball and move it out of danger. Very simpleIt was a sharp turn and executed quicky but Lindelof read the turn and therefore was able to reach it. He should have went in harder to put Traore off-balance. That's really the only thing that could remove the goal threat entirely.
Thats the point though. Just because Lindelof was terrible when he first came in and it took years for him to become a fairly good option for some matches doesnt mean his replacement would take that long. That was a Lindelof problemI understand your frustration. But comparing Bruno Cavani is unfair. They both make plenty of mistakes but they do not get punished, but for a defender one mistake is enough to be set on fire by fans. This is an overall fair assessment.I don't think he is shit. But, I think if we are going to upgrade, he should be the one to go.
He is always good at defending in spaces. When he does it well in games, he plays good.
He is weak at defending in one on one. When he is exposed to that in games, he plays shit.
I think it is consistent.
