I'm way more pissed off about that than i probably should be

Leicester celebrating like they've beaten prime Barcelona, Rodgers the smug looking cnut
City confirmed as champions
The senior players stink the place out (including those who came on)
The PL making us play this game in the first place and essentially hand the title to City
We've now lost the joint least amount of games rather than the least

Feck this I'm off, let's beat the scousers (though looking at that defence without Maguire I doubt it)
God knows how anyone will ever get over that one.

I was pleasantly surprised with the first half. In the first 10 minutes the players were nervous and uncomfortable, but the equalizer did wonders for their confidence. We actually had more possession than Leicester City and Matic were majestic. Unfortunately, Mata was rusty and couldn't organize any meaningful attack.

I really liked the bravery and fighting spirit of our debutants. It also worth to note that the pressing was good, and we could also avoid their press several times. It's clearly something we works on.

In the second half, Matic and Mata absolutely disappeared... as a consequence the pressing just stopped and we also couldn't really leave our half but remained well organized in defense. If we didn't concede immediately after the substitution, I think we could win the match as Leicester City would have to push for the win.

I also chuckled several times when our players (especially Greenwood, but let's not forget Elanga, Diallo and Williams) made fools of the Leicester City's players.

Feels Like United went out of a competition with a whimper, there is no elite mentality in Ole, and It feels like he is pinning his hopes on Winning the Europa league.

Where was the not over until its officially over mentality?

If he does not manage to win the europa league this season then in general its another poor season.

In general , United lacking a killer mentality.

Tonight will be completely irrelevant to our season in a week let alone looking back in a year or two.

Extra bonus that Liverpool got done over. Shame.

Actually disappointed because again we got bossed in midfield and our so called first team did as well in the FA Cup to Leicester and really highlights a big flaw something that Sancho on either wing won't help is our dearth of a midfield. We probably need 3 new midfielders to make a step up. A 80m winger would just be isolated tonight and probably in the FA Cup against Leicester.

We can get by and paper over the cracks, maybe get third behind City and Chelsea next season if Liverpool don't come back strong with their defenders back.

Leicester themselves are understandably not the full outfit but Manchester United's resources and recruitment in the midfield is sorely lacking if we're to make a step up and compete properly in the CL and PL.

Eh? He was the one player breaking up play and also not being sloppy with the ball. I think only our two centre backs, Matic and Greenwood from that starting eleven were any good at all. Amad worked hard closing down and you can sense ability, but he doesnt look ready to step up at the moment. Elanga looks absolutely rapid and also looked very nervous, good experience for him though.

Our full backs were poor, especially WIlliams who looks to have lost confidence, VDB was anoymynous
I thought Telles was OK - doing the things he's good at quite well, but clearly lacking the rhythm he needs because of lack of game time. Not sure it's confidence with Williams, more that he's also lacking game time and shows his frustration when it's not going well for him as a consequence. For Elanga, it's just a question of adjusting to the demands of first team football in the EPL, rather than PL2, where he looks very comfortable. Tough one for him to have to come in for.

I hate watching Matic play - not just slow, but lazy. Lost count of how many times he just watches either the ball or a player go past.

Yeah he was beating the “Matić is terrible” drum all match, when he was clearly the best of our midfielders. Huge agenda on this one.
First goal Matic gets completely dragged towards the ball, let's the man completely run off him to make a cross. That is Matics only job to stop that happening.

Second goal, it's not massively on him but he is incredibly weak considering he sees Soyuncu coming and doesn't try jump.

He let Ihaenacho completely run off him to get in a goal scoring opportunity.

Other than that there were at least two times he put us under massive pressure giving away a simple pass.

When the worst of the chances conceeding come from mistakes from the CDM in the team, he can't have had a good game.

The only positive I'd give him is that he didn't hide from the ball like Mata and VDB seemed too
See my reply to the other poster.

It's not an agenda to think someone had a bad game just because you don't think they did. Give it a rest. I didn't even think it was a bad idea giving Matic a contract unlike many posters, I just thought he was absolutely dreadful considering his experience.

I agree that the other players were good, I thought Tuanzabe especially cleared up a lot of danger.

Said it in the Matchday but consoling myself with how the Vermin must be feeling right now and the fact the Bloo pricks will have to celebrate on their own on a miserable May evening. Crumbs of comfort I know.

You cannot blame Matic for a Luke Thomas wonder goal. If you can say Matic needed to block the cross then you can mention that Tuanzebe, Bailly and Telles were all over the place. Played as absolute strangers during that move

Well what did he do when he came on? Lost his man for the corner and ran around dribbling into opposition players. The young lads did more. It is what it is.
Did he do something to you personally?

Absolutely gutted. I just thought we should select a team and play to win every game , especially when the title was not entirely out of our grasp. So much for ‘ Never give in’

I dont think its an agenda no, I think you are entitled to your opinion.....I also think that opinion is absolute nonsense that he was the worst player on the pitch

Yes strangely enough, Tielmans and Ndidi is a better midfield two than a completely undercooked Matic and VDB, who have probably started together in those roles once or twice before?

There’s really no need to cry about it tonight.

Means nothing if we don’t beat Liverpool. I’m sure they will be up for it.

City can now fully rest their players for Champions League final :(

I know you dont, that was the response to @simonhch

I appreciate your opinion, it's awful, almost as bad as Matic, but it's yours.

The BT match mob are more interested in City than they are about this match. All we've heard the last few days is how City will have the title if Utd lose.
I mean that is far more relevant?

Maybe so on Williams. Telles was ok the second half going forward, the few opportunities he has had he has looked weak defensively to me, he did again today.

As for Elanga, yes, it is a step up, you can see a lot of the time the ball was at his feet, things that would come easily for youth sides were getting read by the full back. I thought he was poor, but wasnt expecting much and the big thing was gettign some experience which will do the world of good for him

The match day and post match threads always seem to bring out posters that I (a) didn’t know existed, and (b) talk a whole bunch of toxic bollocks.

Think that despite the result, there were good bits to the performance today, particularly in the first half but I think as soon as Matic lost his legs Leicester were just able to take over.

To be honest, I wanted the team to at least go it in 2nd half but I am not bothered by losing to the 3rd team when we are fielding 9 fringe players (I consider De Gea & Greenwood part of regular players) Amad and Elanga were not involved and they made plenty of runs that were not picked enough, Mata was our most creative player but his legs are gone, Matic did well 1st half and is at fault for their 2nd goal.

I thought our backline was okay'ish, Williams struggled with his passing but he is really rusty and doesn't play much, Telles wasn't bad but wasn't good also.

VdB though, was disappointing.

Careful @simonhch will think you have an agenda
Hardly. I was a Matic fan and thrilled when we got him. But he's been a disappointment. If I had any agenda it would be not playing an ultra defensive player at home.

Seems lots of people do, I thought he was awful. No one was great but considering his experience I thought he really less us down in key moments.
Realistically, what would great have looked in this game?

The situation and scenario was in no way conducive for any of our players to put in great performances

He did lose Tielmans run totally for the first goal to be fair. Apart from that I thought he played well. As another poster mentioned, he seemed to literally be our midfield today. I thought defensively VDB contributed nothing, was sloppy most of the time going forward and the ball almost seemed like a grenade, he almost looked scared to try anything other than passing the ball 5yards sideways most of the match.

All entitled to opinions, whether or not people think Matic played well or not....the worst player on th epitch comment to me at least it completely ludicrous

What's that, Simon, you don't like people not sharing your opinion?

I think that dropping to your knees at full time to celebrate a win against some reserves that had already been sewn up around half an hour ago is embarrassingly small time.

Don't get me wrong, it's a much needed win for Leicester, and I'd much rather they get top 4 than Liverpool, but the celebrations were way over the top - they have an actual cup final coming up this weekend, let's hope they aren't too emotionally drained for it.
It's just relief.

Honestly, has nothing to do with Man United. It's the relief of getting 3 points. You must have been able to tell the players were absolutely bricking it, and have been in the past few games. They have PTSD from last season.

We need a lot of new players. The XI did their best today - and we were lucky to get a goal - but we are really lacking in squad depth. Glad to see Amad and Elanga start, Greenwood's goal was clinical, but we are in serious trouble when we have to use back up players.

Also, "don't make subs during a corner" is a basic rule, stupid to break it today.

Honestly, anyone whining at Ole about losing this one needs to take a long, hard look at themselves. We were put in a really difficult situation by the PL and it was obvious which game should be 'canned' based on sequencing.

The fact Liverpool is next and we can pontetially throw them out of the CL, giving us an easier run at Sancho just makes the decision even more crystal-clear and obvious.

I actually enjoyed the game and I thought some of our passing was decent. These players not only don't play often (or much at all) but also they don't often play with each other in a competitive game.

The one negative from tonight is these LCFC pricks think they've now won the league or something, dropping on their knees . I actually think they can still bottle top 4 if we lose against Liverpool. And as much as I don't want the scousers in the CL, it'd be hilarious if Rodgers makes it a hat-trick of end-of-season meltdowns .
