Dortmund. We tried that last year.
Dortmund could play hardball last year though, arguably their situation is not as comfortable this year. Two years left on the contract, Sancho is apparently pushing for a move this time (after not making a fuss after not getting the move last summer), and they need the money. The time to cash in is now, and it makes sense for them to be more flexible than last summer.

I'm honestly shocked that it's page 86 and people are still debating whether or not Sancho is good enough for United.

Have you looked at our roster and attacking options?
Have you looked at his stats at Dortmund?
Have you seen him play for club and country?

If you're answering yes to those 3 ,especially the first question, and you still don't think he's good enough for United than you need a good knock upside the head

You could say that they tried this last year.

Their hand is weaker. We will get the player and we will pay less than they wanted last year.
We will pay less, but not less than they want. What I mean is if they want the £77 mill plus £4 mill add ons as reported, then they wont accept anything less.

Our bid was about £10 million off by all reports?

You would think that makes this as good as done. As what would be the point of missing out on him and having to get an alternative over 10 million.

I'd rather splash 90m on grealish and grab sancho next year for 40-50m (he'll only have a year left then and the germans would rather take that instead of letting him go for free).

£90m is a pretty big price to find out if a player is a flop or not I’d rather be sure that we are getting a player that will produce.
Grealish is tried and tested in the league.

We'll be in a bidding war next year
He wants to come to the premier league, he's not going to city. That only leaves us, chelsea and the dippers. We can outbid the dippers and chelsea can't buy haaland and sancho both. So its a safe bet we'll get him even cheaper next year unless the saudis buy newcastle and throw in a 100m offer

You don’t have to sell Grealish to me think he was the best player in the league last year but after signing a 5 year contract you’d be looking at massive money..

It’s what I’ve said all along. As a Villa boy he’s just made sure they get a massive fee for him if they choose to sell. And I don’t think he’s in a hurry to leave anytime soon.
It may be a similar case as Kane when he hits 27/28 and is still with Villa. Then he might start thinking about a move

If those reported wages are true, what does that mean for us going forward? I can understand it for a guaranteed match winner like Mbappe, or even Haaland, at a push. But 350K?

If reports are to be believed, Bruno is on a paltry 100K and there was talk of doubling his wages. Logically he'd be asking for parity with Sancho.

Seems a bit crazy to me.

Is the price Sterling or Euro, though?
The absolute max. price that Dortmund want (with all add-ons included) is 86 million Pounds, which is 100 million Euros (according to both Kajumba and Whitwell). Right now, Dortmund are looking for a base fee within 85-90 million Euros and the rest being add-ons up to 95-100 million Euros. The price will never go up to 90 million Pounds even if all add-ons were to have been achieved, so you have nothing to worry about with that.

I am honestly shocked you'd been on here since at least December and still don't know how redcafe works.

I'm just trying to make you and other people feel better. The fact that there's a range in acceptable prices does give United some hope in negotiating a price with Dortmund. Even Ruhr Nachrichten themselves state that the total price (including add-ons) is 95 million Euros.

The current situation's way better than last summer, when it was just United taking a long while to agree on terms and then not even submitting an offer at the end of it all.

I think there is a high possibility this will end the same way as last season unless Dortmund drop their price.
I reckon We will go up to 72mil quid plus a few add ons but we will go no higher.

Things would've been a lot different if Villa hadn't survived the drop in 19/20.

Yeah I know you’re a good soul Mazhar, I only half am unsure about the transfer and half wind up muppets who think we’re signing Messi..

Last season they categorically stated that they weren’t selling. It’s totally different now

No they didn't, they did however state a firm price that they would not budge on, and they didn't.

Now they seem to have lowered that price somewhat, which doesn't mean they don't have a firm price this time around, it's just lower than last summer.

All a bit ridiculous really... we should just set a price on our play
Hardly a reason to not get it done when we have been chasing him for two years on the trot and a third time overall.
it maybe if that 10mil is the difference between us getting a top CB as well.
