May not be their footage but could’ve cut to the studio or something
Most definatley, or even cut to commercial, anything but zooming in on him!
Instead doing the literal opposite and zooming in on his face and eyes in particular. Appalling.
Surely not? That is disgusting and a total disrespect towards the man and his family! I was watching with my 7 year old and turned off the minute I realised he wasn't moving, so glad I did, that could be something really traumatic for young minds! I hope their is an inquest into this!
Could be wrong but usually on these broadcasts you have one central broadcast stream and then the TV networks respectively provide their own commentary.

Nonetheless, BBC would be in control of switching it off and going back to the studio. Which they didn’t. Which is awful.
Even if that was the case, like you say switching to anything, even going down for a few minutes to get commercials or the studio ready! Someone really slipped up it!

From a quick read through the thread it sounds very worrisome! Even the 5 seconds I seen I can't get out my head, you surely can't carry the tournament on now?

Man that was tough to see. I’ve done that on someone, it’s hard to explain just how physically traumatic and upsetting CPR is up close. I feel for those danish players. I’m just about the least sentimental guy in the world and I found it hard to deal with when it was someone i didn’t know. To watch that on a friend could be traumatic. The only positive thing I have so say is that those defib machines are truly remarkable, I hope having one so close to hand made a difference.

He probably has some undiagnosed heart condition. Hopefully he pulls through first and foremost and then get proper treatment.
It'd be a shocker if any top level player hasn't had proper tests in this day and age.

Really hoping it was some sort of heat related issue, and in time he can recover.

Aren't manual compressions "better" than a machine when performed by a medical professional ? I thought i read that somewhere.
Horrible to see his wife... Being in Danemark a lot of family/friends may have been there. Good thing his kids are very young and would have been quickly shielded from watching this.
There are automatic compression devices, mostly at hospitals, difficult to take them everywhere. Those automatic devices are better than manual compressions cuz humans tire.

Actually feel so empty inside right now. Desperately hoping it's a Muamba situation.

The TV directors or whoever decides what gets shown on the screens are absolute idiots that should be sacked asap. Crass and disrespectful coverage. Get them to feck.

Yeah the eyes, that’s unforgivable. At the very beginning it wasn’t clear what happened so I understand the indecision on what to show, but deliberately zooming in on a lifeless body, lifeless eyes…whoever did that was sick, IMO. Showing the wife was almost as bad given how much time had passed and how clear the situation was at that point, that woman will have that moment of trauma recorded for the rest of her life because some dickhead thought it was newsworthy.

It’s difficult to know what to do in those situations when it’s so sudden, I get that, but some individuals made some really terrible decisions there.

Awful to see. Really didn’t need to focus the camera in when medics were working on him.

all our thoughts are with him.

I honestly think he’s dead, hope I’m wrong! It didn’t look good. Why is there no mobile heart equipment considering after everything that’s happened in the past??
Don’t know how the tournament continues if he dies!
I'm thinking the same.
This was too much

Pretty lame answer. Nobody knew what was happening then.
The moment it was clear he was receiving PCR was the moment they should have cut away, German TV kept the cameras on for a solid 4 or 5 minutes after that... just disgraceful

The camera showed him getting shocked. They clearly have the best equipment possible.

I hope the fact that they appeared to stop CPR after 15 minutes meant that they got his heart going again, paired with the cheering in the stadium.

i'm really surprised they didn't have a mobile defibrillator machine on hand as the poor guy had to do manual chest compressions
Gah, I thought they were using a defibrillator. That's fecked they didn't have one.

The fact his teammates were so calm considering when he was being brought away makes me think he is still fighting.

And I'm all out of bubblegum.
The people running the broadcast needs to be sacked. There were no reason for the kind of intrusive detail that was presented there. The Norwegian broadcaster had to take manual control and just show an overview of the pitch.

It's all controlled by one entity, isn't it? I think we may all have seen the same thing.

He was 100% out, and they were trying to resucitate.
Really hoping it's a Muamba situation, rather than Foe.

I'm a bit naive/hopeful, but I'm really hoping it was some sort of extreme heat reaction to things - and it's recoverable for him in terms of career as well as life, although the former is way way less important right now of course.

Like with any overseas football event, they don't control the coverage. All of the broadcasters around the world would have had the same feed.

The main broadcasters were milking this until they realized how serious this was.
Honestly, I was shocked how closely they were filming.
I'll never forget the image of him getting electric shocks to revive him.

I hope our match (BEL vs RUS) gets cancelled.
