I just hope the fans listen to Boris Johnson and don't boo the players and staff at kick-off time.

It wouldn't surprise me if Southgate is superstitious.
I mean is Trippier shoehorned in because he once scored a free kick against Croatia..?

I suppose that would explain why there were 4 right backs in the initial squad, Southgate thinks Trippier is actually a left back.

That does mean we've only brought 2 right backs though...

Mings shouldn't be in the squad never mind the starting 11. Luke Shaw has arguably been the best left back in Europe this season and he decides to play a right in his position? Southgate clearly doesn't like Grealish. He's good pals with Aidy Boothroyd who Grealish reportedly didn't get on with when he was with the U-21's.

How is Shaw not superior than Chilwell and Trippier????? I"m so confused.
I’ll throw my hat in the ring and call that Chilwell is better than Shaw? Shaw has very little attacking output and Chilwell has a plan behind his crosses, Shaw just hits the ball without lookinh. Shaw also made several blunders in his last few games, so have absolutely no problem with him not starting. Severley overrated on this forum, this year’s Martial.

Yet to see you praise a United player, maybe stop pretending to be a fan.

I think Shaw is a better player than Chilwell
- but like many would have no issues if Chillwell started. Both excellent players.

Tripper would seem to be a little strange - but clearly we don’t see them in training.

Furthermore, this isn’t a confirmed lineup.

Trippier over two actual LB's
Mings as one of the two CB's
Sterling over all the other attacking players

Strange decisions

Where to even begin. Why on earth is Trippier playing at LB? It has to be Shaw, and if not then at least Chilwell, a CL winning LB. Mings is awful but he doesn't have much choice with Maguire and Gomez out, so fair enough. Phillips and Rice together will get utterly dominated. No Grealish is an absolute joke. The whole prep for the tournament was messy, the team has had very little minutes to gel and now the (awful) line up has been leaked to the opposition hours before the game. We wait 3 years for this and then this happens.

Adding my sheer disdain. I cannot fathom how you can have possibly best current LB in Europe in Shaw, the champions league winning LB in reserve and make the decision to go for Trippier there. I really rate Trippier but give him the nod over Walker. Seriously what the f is this guy thinking. Also that midfield, we will not see much of the ball so it makes even less sense to negate our attacking threat from full back positions. All I can say is thank f it's Sterling over Rashford, because with that midfield, we could prepare to kiss 65% of our attacks goodbye with Rashford in current form as the outlet. Just for clarity, I would obviously start Grealish over either Sterling or Rashford like any other sane man.

Every match Grealish plays he keeps the ball, makes stuff happen in front of defences. This reliance on 'pace in behind' its not a recipe for going deep into tournaments. Southgate needs to grow a pair and pick a team that can build up pressure over time. Field a midfield that at least has a chance of keeping the ball against Croatia. Ffs, only hope is if he really cocks this tournament up he might get sacked before he can ruin this team for the WC too.

Spot on, all of this. Playing Grealish at least gives us someone who is completely comfortable keeping and receiving the ball no matter who he's playing against, so that we don't spend all game clinging on and praying for a Kane penatly.

Southgate is a terrible manager and that's why England won't win the euros. You'll get through the group but you'll fall short vs Portugal or France.

not even sure which is the biggest head-scratcher. Trippier over Shaw/Chilwell is an unbelievable call, but Sterling over Grealish (or Sancho) might be even dumber.

imagine what this team could do with a somewhat competent manager. Sigh.

I get United and Chelsea fans will argue over who's better between Chillwell and Shaw until they're blue in the face, but to not pick either one? It's like having the choice of an Aston Martin or a Ferrari and choosing a Fiat Punto. I actually quite like Trippier but not at left back.

what if the lineup he chooses goes on an wins the game?
Still the wrong lineup. Croatia is far from what they were in 2018, and the rest of the group stage is piss easy, but this is a sign of things to come for the Ro16 and if it is, then you'll fall short against the firsts strong opposition. France, Portugal, whichever of the 2 you play 1st will knock out England unless Southgate gives you a chance by mainly just picking his best team. No chance if he picks a dumb team (aka no Grealish or Shaw).

What are the options apart from Mings? White/Coady both play exclusively in a three at club level. He’s massively gambled on Maguire’s fitness.

No that’s silly, if we win (especially if comfortable) then we are wrong and he’s right. However I do think that leaked line up is madness.

I'm Irish so it's not like I want to see England do well but I will say this.

I have a soft spot for some of your very talented players. Grealish is absolutely brilliant, one of my favourite players to watch right now.

Seeing that lineup from Southgate just makes me think he doesn't deserve to win

How can you not start Grealish?

How are you starting a right back in the left over 2 fully fit left backs?

Even Sterling playing is very very questionable. In fact I'd say it's idiotic in his form.

Also Foden is top draw but if the choice is him or Grealish than right now it should be Grealish every day of the week.

Your team is insane but with Southgate decisions there is a good chance it costs you down the line. And I say if it does Southgate has got to go.

France or Portugal, both sides will beat England with Southgate. Both sides have stronger teams and more so when Southgate picks idiotic starting 11's.
If we finish second don't we play a team like Sweden?
