The drop off from their good players, which are few and far between, is a chasm.

One of those Scotland won't score if they play until 12.00am type games.

Good save but should've been better finish.

@Gio why doesn't Adams and Gilmour start for you guys
Because Clarke is a cautious manager and prefers the battering ram style of Dykes and a more defensively robust set of midfielders. Think he’s called it wrong and played to the Czech strengths rather than our own.

In saying that we should be winning this based on the balance of chances.

I dunno mate, it’s one thing saying keepers can venture out of their box but this starting position is insane

Scotland were on the front foot, penetrating deep then a poor decision saw the ball deflect out to the halfway line quickly. It's an unexpected situation. Goals like this one are rare and insisting your keeper stay home to protect against it is too risk averse because the better option is to have him be in the outfield to sweep up.

People are too quick to condem decisions that lead to goals, especially excessively rare ones from the halfway line. Schick made the goal with his quick reaction and skill.

What's the point of taking a centre back out for a midfielder and putting another midfielder in a centre back?

How on earth does Mctominay start for United. He looks like one of the poorer players in a very average Scotland team ffs!

Vaclík would be a perfect no2 as a free agent this summer. Will end up at Madrid it seems.

Scotland are shite. Could they not have tapped up a half decent English/Brazilian/Spanish etc striker that had some sort of tenuous link to Scotland? I’m sure Danny Ings ate a haggis once.

Ralf Rangnick.
Tbf to Mctominay hes used differently for Scotland more to protect back 3 where as united hes more box to box. Role for Scotland doesnt suit him.
He's not even doing that either. Czech have been running rings around him all match.

Press and the Scotland defence goes to pieces.

They don't have the players capable of knocking it around at the back, yet continue to do so.

Did you watch him in the EL final? That's why he starts for United. What better options do we currently have?
He has a couple of good performances each season which he dines on them for months.

He's afforded more leeway than basically anyone in the squad and his talent doesn't warrant that.

If he was on the edge of his own D, maybe a few years further, I’d agree and he’d be in a position to cover either eventuality but he’s gone way to far up and has left himself badly exposed.

One of the reasons those goals are so rare is because there generally isn’t the opportunity to try then because even sweeper keepers position themselves close enough to their goal to quickly get back whilst also being far enough out to sweep up.
