£43m is surely the release clause right? He signed a three year deal in 2019 so unless theres been another extension somewhere, he’s into his last year.

It's not just goals conceded through lack of pace; it's also
1. knock on effect on tactics. Inability to play any kind of high line at all.
2. United's defence don't look confident playing against quick forwards. They look like they're in permanent panic mode.
3. Yes, there are clear an obvious goals conceded due to lack of pace. Some of them are mundane the the opposition player getting to the ball first to shoot.

Plus the shear pointlessness of it: recruiting a 35 year old player who's never played in the PL. Madness.
Why? Curious.

Whispers in Turin strongly suggesting that Ronaldo got a formal offer from United but he wants PSG. Juve would like to know asap in order to make a move for Dybala (renewal or a swap with Atletico Madrid). Morata’s further year on a rental is a good move to have at least one forward really wanting to stay, with Allegri happy to work with him again and the fans adoring him as well.

What's his excuse been for all the mediocre seasons prior to this last one?
Why buy him in the first place then? That just highlights how our club is run though, we have players who start for us week in week out that are not good enough for a top club so why sign another one to join the squad.

I'd happily replace the entire midfield besides Bruno and Pogba in a heart beat. So if Donny wants out let him go, Ole obviously doesn't want him.

Are you being serious? You must have missed our games against Spurs. Slow and clumbersome. Yes he was in good form before his injury, yes he is our strongest defender, but you cannot deny his lack of pace does not hinder us. Other posters have explained it to you as well.
That goal, 2 seasons ago, wasn't down to pace, it was down to Maguire being square on and flat footed... You can have a rapid defender and if they're square on like that, against a pacy player, they're getting beat.

Maguire's performances last season against the speed merchants were absolutely fantastic.

Swap Pogba for Varane, everyone is happy.

Trippier doesn't look likely at all, Atletico do not want to sell - I wonder is there a back up option?

Chelsea play him alongside any two of Christensen, Reece James, Rudiger, or Azpilicueta. None of which are as slow as Maguire.
I didn’t say they don’t, I’m just replying to another poster saying it’s madness to bring a 35 year old to the PL. There’s plenty of examples where it’s worked out!

A lot of transfers will not get done until towards the end of the transfer window. Clubs are still living in cloud cuckoo land. Price's being quoted are ridiculous. Turned down £50M for Varane, £45M wanted for Tripper, £85M for Sancho, £80M for Rice.
No wonder United do not get business done early.

PLease don't clog this thread up with rubbish like that youtube video.

You are entitled to your opinion/agenda against Maguire, but embedding awful youtube videos is pointless and note needed. Especialy when they are the calibre of that particular video.

Ramos would be a great signing in my opinion.

What do we expect when we go around boasting about having money to appease our fans?

Maguire is NOT slow,

He has a lack of mobility maybe, but his top speed maxes out at 1km under Sterlings last season, hardly slow.

Yeah. Not happening.
I thought Trippier had a 35m Release Clause? Which probably means we should take this info with a pinch of salt.

Same result though - 35m is also way too much for a backup RB, given other needs. It's fine for Atletico to demand that, he is probably worth it, but if they're not prepared to let him go for much less, then I don't see how the deal works for United.
