UK, hun?
So he can think of one incident. Wow we get caught out a lot

there are bigger issues in our centre back pairing than lack of pace
It's not just about one off incidents though, as me and that guy explained. It changes the way we set-up and build attacks. Fair enough if you don't agree.

I would actually be willing to sell him and use funds elsewhere as long as we recuperate the funds we used to acquire him.

Clearly he’ll always be backup to Bruno at #10 and he’s also clearly not reliable enough to play in central midfield in the PL.
We could ask for Pedri or De Jong in return, should be a no fuzz straightforward swap i imagine.

Cheap player who is young and backups Fernandes. He may suck but we need someone who can play for Bruno so he actually gets rest. The buy itself isnt awful, either the player just sucks or ole is clueless, either option is realistic
£35m is not cheap. It's the price you pay for a starter, not for a bench option, unless the bench option is striker. £14m for Telles was cheap.

How often does that happen to United? People keep saying Maguires pace but we’ve literally never had a goal against because of it
Like your point! To much talk about something that haven't hurt us as much as we kind of complaining about.
But do you think a faster CB could allow us to press a bit higher with the back four to shorten the space between midfielders and defenders?

In my head it would do wonders for macfred (or whoever we play in CM.)

Yeah Ole has already seen the impact that an experienced born winner can have on this team up front and he should see Ramos as someone who could provide the exact same thing in defence as well
Ole bought Maguire for £80m. You don't seriously think Maguire and Ramos can play together do you? Teams will just play quick forwards against us and hit us on the break.

Are you being serious? You must have missed our games against Spurs. Slow and clumbersome. Yes he was in good form before his injury, yes he is our strongest defender, but you cannot deny his lack of pace does not hinder us. Other posters have explained it to you as well.

And I’m saying is it that bad an issue compared to a cb who can’t head, can’t defend physically et c?

with any luck we get Varane who appears to be priority and addresses all these issues

A hardworking attacking midfielder who can score goals. He can also come inside from wide areas or play through the middle as a second striker.
Yes it is quite funny when people say that considering Nole's matches are always exciting.
You must be blind.

Given that all teams at some point will be caught out by pace, we have been as fallible as anyone else but as GB stated, it’s hardly been our Achilles Heel. Poor positioning has accounted for a lot of goals( Fulham, Spurs(h), Liverpool,) among others, poor defending down to strength has accounted for a few(Villarreal). Lack of cover where the midfield hasn’t tracked back. Ok you can point to the Spurs game(s) but Spurs also did that to City when Spurs were doing well.
So on balance I wouldn’t say Maguires lack of pace is an issue. Having a partner who is switched on and compliments him is what we need. If you look at Italy’s CB partnership they aren’t the quickest but they complimented each other, and have the midfield and attackers covering attacks. The biggest problem IMO is having a game strategy where we defend as a team and attack as one. You may put the inconsistency down to lack of the right personnel but it’s something that needs to be addressed

How many goals have we conceded due to lack of pace?
It's not just goals conceded through lack of pace; it's also
1. knock on effect on tactics. Inability to play any kind of high line at all.
2. United's defence don't look confident playing against quick forwards. They look like they're in permanent panic mode.
3. Yes, there are clear an obvious goals conceded due to lack of pace. Some of them are mundane the the opposition player getting to the ball first to shoot.

Plus the shear pointlessness of it: recruiting a 35 year old player who's never played in the PL. Madness.

Ben White is thought to be keen on a move to Arsenal, Edu has held talks with White's reps at London Colney. Club hopeful of reaching a deal for both White and Lokonga at Anderlecht. Ødegaard unlikely, Maddison top of the club's wishlist. Interest in André Onana and Aaron Ramsdale.

That McGuire video is silly. You could make a bloopers reel of any player including Messi and Ronaldo
