Maybe the "add-ons" difference that is being quoted differently in UK and Germany is that we have agreed the £72.9m fee with Dortmund.

However we have also agreed to pay the "sell on fee" due to Man City on Dortmund's behalf.

Us sending it to City will be cheaper than both clubs losing money on a currency conversion.

So we can say £72.9m with "no add-ons" to Dortmund. Meanwhile Dortmund can claim this fee, plus their commitment to pay City taken off their books?

No-ones lying, and both sides can claim a victory.
only we haven't agreed to pay city on top of the 72, but yeah let's just make shit up.

The club deserve credit (and Ed) for delaying this deal for a year and getting a much fairer price on the transfer. Pandemic and all that involved also.

not sure how your post relates to mine. Maybe i missunderstood the original context of being burnt by german players in the past
I just wanted to say no reason to worry, Sancho is a different player than Kagawa, Mikhi and Bastian, and coming in different circumstances as well.

Martin Edwards took the club public and the stock bombed, could hardly give the shares away. I think United even got knocked out of Europe the day they IPO'd and not even United fans gave a shit about it
Oh this is pre-Glazer, I didn't know that. I assumed Glazers bought 100% of the club and issued some stock on the market for additional funds.

Really good price considering they wanted £108 million a year ago, defiantly showed it was better to wait.

Big pressure on him to deliver now, let’s hope the hype is worth it.

the main intrigue is what number will Sancho wear with Cavani wearing 7 and staying around for another year

Well, he does have one year less on his contract, so the price would always go down. But economically it was probably the best decision yeah

Sorry about that, I can see how that might be unclear. What I tried to say was the opposite - that the add-ons are apparently of the sort that are expected to be achieved. Of course, contracts are not actually published so we don't know for sure - but at least that's how they are being spoken about. Mostly when the Diallo acquisition is written about, the close to 40 million figure that includes the add-ons is the one used.
No worries,
I personally think we have a young star on our hands anyway and for about the price of £110 we have Sancho as well as Amad whereas if we coughed up the £108 last year who knows what might have happened.

that's the thing, i don't buy him being given the 7 shirt now especially with Cavani coming back and everyone at United including Ole are massive fans of Edinson

Reported at numerous sources including the Athletic that he'll wear the number 7 shirt. So the question is, what will Martial be wearing when Cavani gets the 9?
thats been debunked by The Athletic themselves, apparently 7 was agreed last summer, subsequently of course Cavani has the shirt.

Economically the best decision would've been to not sign him at all, and buy David Brooks for half the price. Some fans actually wanted this

"Kicker" just fully backed the reports from the BBC so the thing will probably be officially announced from Dortmunds side tomorrow. 85 Mil. € base + a couple mlllions in majorily easy to obtain bonuses will probably finalize the price somewhere in the 90-95 Mil. € range.

In the end a deal that both parties can be contend with. Most positive point here is most likely that the thing was not dragged out unecessarily which means Dortmund will have a replacement lined up for the time the pre season starts, which in my eyes will be important as the void Sancho leaves behind creatively will have to be compensated collectively and tactically rather than by a single player.

It's definitely better for both parties not to drag this out and allow them to move to new targets. You don't want to get into mid july and still be moaning back and forth over a few million quid

Looking at Cavani’s shirt number history, I’d say he’ll happily gives the number 7 to Sancho.
At least if he gets the 9

Him getting the #7 probably means Martial is on the chopping block.

Great news all round.

Sancho won't get the 7 this season but I'm guessing he'll get a number with the 7 in it.
