Interesting. Royal Antwerp? Who were the other teams mentioned? Another of Levy's mis-steps wherein he could've cashed in when we were interested, but allowed the asset to depreciate and helped lead to the current depleted team. Really rated him a few years ago and would've put him in the conversation of top 5 defenders.

Based on what everyone's saying, they're all making their own conclusions when they say this. There haven't been any solid links to either de Gea or Henderson at this time, which makes me think that these recent articles/Tweets are just the United journalists expecting one of the aforementioned keepers to leave.

How many clubs are in a position to pick up DDG's salary ? how many would want to ?
He is a rapidly declining asset who should have been moved two years ago.

I can't see De Gea going anywhere unless on loan, personally I'd keep him over Dean, maybe we can offer both Henderson and Lingard to West Ham for Rice.

I bet people was probably saying the same thing when Sanchez was on 500 grand a week and we wanted him to leave, always ways around it, golden handshake to end his contract early and so who picks him up can afford him.

I cannot understand the ones who prefer DDG to Hendo. I really don't.

Command of area, bravery, decision making, mindset, attitude - Dean beats Dave in these abilities.

Dave is a reflex keeper and he is not getting younger anymore. And his attitude is questionable. And his wages.

His penalty miss AND ignoring the notes of Villarreal's penalty takers was enough for me. Don't have any faith in him anymore. None of it.

According to Bild Frankfurt had to make the concession to Silva and his agent that they could pocket anything above those €23m (so basically a release clause, I guess), because the swap deal with Rebic, that got them Silva, was so last minute that they had to skip negotiating signing or agent fees.
So Leipzig probably pay Silva/Mendes a handsome signing fee (as well as €4m net p.a.). Probably still a great deal by international standards, but not as absurd a bargain as one would first assume when seeing the €23m figure.

Yes, it is a „Mendes special“ and - as you correctly put it - basically a release clause.

Thanks for the additional info. Of course there had to be catch with Jorge Mendes involved...

There is no club in europe for de gea to go to, especially one who could afford his wages. If anyone is leaving will be henderson.
Assuming Ole sees Henderson as the no. 1 going forward then if De Gea isn’t happy sitting on the bench he’ll have to take a pay cut and go elsewhere if he wants to be playing week in week out.

De Gea is useless, we would be extremely lucky to get rid, don’t think we will.

Where? Name me some realistic clubs? There arent any. Even with a paycut he'd still be on 250k from his 350k a week wages. There are no clubs in europe who can afford those wages even with a paycut who need a no1 keeper.

Psg - donnaruma
Atletico - oblek
Madrid- courtios
Barcelona - ten stegen
Milan - Mignolet
Inter - handonovic
Juventus - szczency
Bayern - neuer

Theres literally nowhere for de gea to go. Henderson on the other hand could be sold to clubs below that tier.

Feck knows what clubs he’d go to but if he’s not no.1 and wants to be playing regular football every week then he’ll need to take a pay cut sufficient enough for any club that does show interest to be able to afford. Unless of course he’s happy enough to settle for playing cup games and collecting his £300k a week. It’s our feck up for handing him that last big contract, the best case scenario if we can’t find a buyer is Dave bucks up his ideas and regains the form that earned him the fat contract in the first place, unfortunately I can’t see that happening.
