Our big players weren't great, Rashford and Bruno were very poor. We missed Maguire, Ole was late with the subs, and those things cost us the game. But Dave could have won us the final in penalties, all he had to do was save one.
Even my Dog knew that DDG is the worst keeper in the world on penalties , wish my manager knew though

I say Ole for not taking off De Gea was the biggest reason for the loss and his late subs.

Good for him. Looks like he's getting the backing let's hope he gets us the title this season or next. This is what the expectation is and this is what he'll be judged on.

Moyes had a long contract too.

 Oh so I was right and now I'm lying? You purposely cut most of the games from your screenshot. I don't have to lie, everything I said is for all to see in their results last season.
Caught red handed. This the rest of the games which I purposely cut out which show that Atleti did indeed not win any of their 15 games before the Chelsea match like you truthfully claimed.

Never wanted him in place in the first place and still dont think hes the right manager for us, but will not moan about him this season. Hes certainly giving us a bit of stability around the club if nothing else.

I’m pretty much indifferent to this.

I’m still not convinced he’s going to take us to the title but there’s no real downside to cementing some level of stability if it helps bring in players. Especially when I’ve no fecking clue who else we could bring in.

I hope beyond hope he can make things click, nothing would make me happier than him being the one to bring the PL back to United.

Either way, I’m resetting myself going into the new season. Sancho is a huge piece of the jigsaw, and if we can add Varane and a DM then we’re as well equipped as we’ve been in years.

These kind of posts and this thread in general has been a great reminder to me that’s it’s a lot more enjoyable following the club when not getting caught up in these silly little online Ole hating debates, I forgot this while the Euros were on even though there jibes given out then too. Enjoy your hating.

Love me some Ole. Long may it continue, pushing the forward back in the right direction, time for the club to go on the offensive and get that title back.

Problem is that somehow criticising the manager has somehow become synonymous with hating him . I don’t hate him at all but I have serious doubts over him as United manager . I didn’t come in to criticise or jibe on the DDG thing but someone else said that we almost won the EL but for DDG and I was just replying to that

As long as we are progressing I’m happy , the years following Ferguson’s departure have been terrible to watch, finally I’m back to looking forward to kick off rather than dreading it and that’s what it’s all about for me, win lose or draw I’m normally entertained these last few years.

Feels like we are slowly getting our United back and Ole deserves credit for that

Congrats to him. I hope it works for him but if we’re getting Sancho, possibly Varane and possibly another midfielder, then this is his moment of truth. The previous rationalisations like it’s a low quality squad, him being new in the job and not being backed in the transfer market won’t wash this upcoming season if we end up spending £150m-£200m.

Its going to be worrying if he’s still stumped by low block teams and not making subs because he doesn’t trust the players on the bench, with the money we may end up spending this summer, as well as the time he’s been in the role now.

Alright, I concede. Atleti are the best football team in club football. They weren't on a bad run of form and they didn't have players out injured during the time they played Chelsea or the games around that time. Any team that should surely beat them is not only infinitely better than them but also, so great that a team like Manchester United could never compare themselves to them.

He deserved it. Well done, Ole.

He’s not perfect. Nobody is. Even SAF management performance wasn’t loved by many in here, but I would say he’s done quite well after the fiasco of Moyes and the dull football of LVG and Mou. He steadied the ship. Now we move forward. Let’s get behind him guys, particularly the ones inside OT. The club will reassess his performance at the end of next season surely. But till then, Ole’s the best person to lead us. That’s my opinion anyway.

Reaching 4 semi-finals, Europa league final and finishing 3rd/2nd in his first full seasons. Bringing in exciting, quality players which have improved the first team whilst developing the likes of Shaw into one of the best in his position. But because he hasn't won a trophy yet, this is mediocrity to you?

He has deserved this extension because of the progress we have made since appointing him. I think some people on here need to seriously look back and see where we were heading as a football club before Ole took over. He has done a fantastic job!

Tuchel came into Chelsea on the back of them having a splurge on serious talent in the transfer market that Lampard could not get the best out of. Not taking away from any of his achievements, but Tuchel inherited a much better team and club in Chelsea than Ole did with Utd, that is just a fact.
It is not though. Ole took the team 6 months after we finished in the second place with 80 points (6 more than he ever did), and since then spent a cool 220m EUR net (the highest in the league, doesn't account for Sancho). source: https://www.transfermarkt.com/premier-league/fuenfjahresvergleich/wettbewerb/GB1

To only play soul-draining football, barely finishing in UCL the first season, getting eliminated in group stage of UCL, and being out of the title race before Christmas.

If that is progress, I do not know what is not defined as progress.

Laughable really, but as notable this club has too much money to spend. Grant, Mata, Jones, Donny and the past few trainers are very much testament of that. Just hand out contracts and vibes.

That being said, I think all of us want to see him succeed bad, no trophies + title challemhe this season and he should be out though.

Be sarcastic all you want but you are a liar, you will always be a liar and you will die with those 4 big letters L-I-A-R etched in the memories of everyone you have lied to. Liar.

Come on, You’re being ridiculous.

I don’t mind the divide on Ole but the extremism is boring as hell.
Yes, it is a farce now. In 3 years guy won nothing (except top 4 trophy), bottled EL final where he showed how average he is and he gets new contract as rewards. Ridiculous.

We are going with him against Klopp, Pep and Tuchel this year. Yeah, that will work.

Does it really matter?

He has made a positive step in appointing this set piece guy from Chelsea, however there needs to be a realisation that a more experienced number 2 who has fresh ideas, attacking mindset and willing to challenge his decisions is an absolute must. Have never hidden my feelings on him being appointed permanently but he is the Utd manager so will support

Feeling indifferent about this news even though I did see it coming sooner rather than later. The club is definitely backing him regardless what the “Ole outers” say.

It is clear that he has brought a lot of stability to the club for the 1st time in 8 years. The players do seem to enjoy playing under him which is something you can’t say about Moyes, LVG & Jose. It is vital for any manager at the end of the day to have the players on your side otherwise you won’t last long in the job and get the results required. He is building a very good, young exciting team with a lot of potential.

Long term, the jury is still out for me. Maybe he just needs that one major trophy to get things going and build that winning mentality. Can he get the best out of this current lot consistently and make big changes when needed is something that still remains unanswered for me.

I really want him to succeed here and prove all the doubters wrong. It’ll be absolutely amazing that a former Utd legend as manager delivers our 1st post SAF league title. Will see I suppose.

Brilliant news.

How there are reds who aren’t desperate for him to succeed here is beyond me.

Now he’s got his number 1 target from the day he joined and I can’t wait to see his team take shape.
I see that good old Redcafe member, straw man has reared his head again.

In my time here I’m yet to see anyone of our fans say they don’t want him to succeed, the expectations of mists of his defenders is on the floor. We lost to Villarreal & all you saw were posters degrading a cup we can’t win at full strength instead of asking how the feck he was out managed so comprehensively in the same tournament 2 years running.

‘reds desperate for him not to succeed’

Again it’s context isn’t it. Let’s say we sign Sancho, Varane and Rice and keep Pogba then yes I would expect us to challenge for everything regardless of what anyone else does. If we sign Sancho and Varane but sell Pogba and replace him with an 18 year kid from France with City signing Kane and Grealish then it’s going to be pretty tough isn’t it? He’s competing against arguably the greatest manager in history who is funded by a fecking state. That’s the context of the situation.
Really good post.

What manager should we get if we didn’t extend Ole contract? He’s got us going the right direction.

I see the same shit all the time on here, we’re Man Utd, we should win the league, we should get better. And never is there an answer to who that better is to be able challenge the oil club and pep. I’d love to hear it.
Tuchel went to Chelsea 6 months ago, Pochettino to PSG at the same time (though I don't rate him high but he is better than Ole), Allegri went to Juve this summer, Nagelsmann to Bayern this summer, Zidane and Conte do not manage anyone currently.

So here you have, 6 superior managers to Ole who are either waiting for the right job, or got the job during this year while we were doing 'Project Progress'.

Glad he’s signed, but interesting timing for a new contract. I thought we would see how he fares this season with a squad capable of challenging, assuming we get a couple more decent transfers over the line. This season will be a big test for him (not necessarily his first real test though :))

As if being an Ole fan is a bad thing, he's the manager ffs.

You should be more concerned about the player in your username fella.
I like the player. Not the fecking person, if he deserves to be in jail, then he should be in jail and rotten there.
