Yeah we’re seeing the first gen of the “it stopped snowing so we have to find alternative sports” era. Sport science wise we’ve always had a significant advantage over most countries so it’s nice to see that we’re making it count outside of winter sports.
Can’t see Ingebrigtsen beating Cheruiyot just yet. It’s a shame he chose not to partake in 5000m. He would have been one of the favorites but I guess he isn’t at the freak levels of Sifan Hassan just yet. But his time will come for sure.
What happens now? Nobody finishes.

Would love the Danes to be disqualified due to that rider berating the Brit but GBR don’t deserve to advance.

Technically the race is over when one team catches the other - just needs to be within one meter. You could argue the race was over before the crash happened.

Yeah, first he wasn't paying attention and then it was rather unsporting behavior to shout at the Brit, when he was the one who made the mistake. Understandable since the adrenaline is pumping, but not a great look.
Then you could still get disqualified for cycling in to another rider I would say?

Oh dear. Thought that would be a tight race in the women’s team pursuit but the Germans trounced us.
Don’t think the cycling will be as bad as the rowing was but think there’ll be a lot less gold and a lot more silver and bronze this time round.

There was a show on the BBC a month or so ago about Helen Glover, British rower (probably still on the BBC IPlayer).
She won a rowing gold in 2012 and 2016 (as well as a shedload of other titles) then retired.
Had a baby in 2018 and twins in 2020. Then decided to try and come back but due to COVID/lockdown, trained by herself, no coaches.
Her and her husband videoed her progress through 2020 and 2021 on hand held cameras - a mix of mental training (rowers really work?!) and helping bring up a 2/3 year old and baby twins. There was one point when one was teething and she slept on the bedroom floor so she could rub it’s back, then got up at Silly o’clock to go rowing.
Selected for GB rowing team, came back at the 2021 Euros (won it), then made the Olympic final, came fourth… at 35.
Her rowing partners story was pretty cool too… took a break from rowing in 2020 to go back to work as a doctor at a hospital and help out because of COVID.

Nice to see a South African in the climbing event. But man, those France brothers are crazy fast.
The men's 400m hurdles threatened to be the race of the games and it certainly delivered. To see three athletes go faster than anyone else has ever gone before in the one race could be unprecedented. And to knock 7/10 of a second off the existing record puts it in the same ballpark as Bolt's 100m in 2009 and Johnson's 200m in 1996 in destroying people's expectations of what constitutes the human limit in any event.
Great to see a German win on the parallel bars. 15,7 points, incredible! If he didn’t do something Special here Germany would have had no medal at gymnastics since Sydney 21 years ago. It’s one of the most underfunded sports here, which is why I highly rate someone winning silverware in this environment.
