Can it happen ? We aren't too bad in terms on finance and Glazers has the history of signing Marqueue players as needed ( Tom Brady signing for Tampa Bay which won them super bowl, comes to my mind)

What do you think ? Do we even have a remote possibility?

We can't sign a replacement for Matic or a backup for AWB without first selling players, so I'm going to go with "no".

Imagine if we do sign him, we would be the only club both Ronaldo and Messi been part of. One can only dream ! :)

I think we'd have the budget to do it - Glazers would see him as a huge brand.

But I don't think we will do it. He's probably got 5 years of world class in him, but don't see it happening. Would be amazing to be the only club to grace both Messi and Ronaldo though :D

No and we shouldn't. As good as he is, he'll still need a defensive midfielder behind him.

He's said to bring in around 30 percent of Barcelona's entire revenue. His marketability is so insane that his wages are a sound investment rather than expenditure.

If we can get him we absolutely should. Would be a statement signing if there ever was one. And he's still so good that no other signing would improve us more.

Don’t think we could or necessarily should but too people saying he is older and not worth it. He is 34 same as Cavani had most goals and assists in La Liga last season plus most MOTM in European football he is still one if not the best in the world

Messi would not play for Ole for many reasons. And Ole doesn’t seem like a manager who would want such a big player in the dressing room.

Glazers has done it in the past in NFL. They were worse than us in terms of spending but when an opportunity came up for Tom Brady, they did it.

Can't spell Mkhitaryan
Absolutely wouldn't want him. Once upon a time but that time has passed.

Have you watched him in the big CL games these last few seasons? He isn't the player he was! I'm not calling him shite but he'd need covering more than Pogba and Victor combined.

Let him retire in the French League

It's Messi, you don't say no if you can. Not sure if the bean counters can make the numbers work though.

His wage is like 2-3x minimum what our top earners are on. Not to say he's not worth the money, but not a hope in hell we could afford to pay that

Messi will never play in PL. In my opinion it's PSG (80%) or City (20%). But yes, you can dream - it would've been great to see him in PL.

If we were able to sign him, it would come as a joint effort between us and Adidas. I imagine that is a scenario that would apply to a few top teams. Also, Teamviewer would be the luckiest shirt sponsor in history.

We all love United
Hopefully Ed is on the phone with the accountants and the owners. We need no DM when Messi wants to play for you

What is his best position?

We just signed Varan, lets cool it with the "big names wont come here" schtick

Nope and wouldn't want him. It'll be insane money and he's not exactly one for the future is he?

We can give him 400k and defer the rest to be paid over the next 20 years.

If we ship ddg and pogbas wages I'm sure we could offer 500k, issue is fin we do that it will feck up our pay scale.
Pay scale is not applicable to an outlier like Messi

Our wage structure won't be a problem as we can pay him a sizeable joining bonus given there won't be a transfer fee and pay him "normal" wages of 300-400k per week. However, whatever we pay will also be offered by many clubs and he is very unlikely to join us then.

Age or not it would be incredibly exciting, but it’s not realistic at all.

United are clever enough to milk any big name dry and Messi is the ultimate big name. Stranger things have happened.

Fred and McT in there around these monsters :lol:

“Varane plays it out to Pogba, he slides it through to Messi, Messi pulls it back to Fred!…..and the balls gone out for a throw in”
