I would say the likes of Lingard, Mata and James are more in the way of Amad getting minutes than Sancho will be. This is why myself and many other fans would have liked to have seen all three of them leave this summer, so minutes off the bench could be given to our future, not past it and limited players.

Seems to me Barcelona value Messi more than the long term financial well being of the club. I can understand La Liga making a stand. They would rather have Barcelona and Madrid survive any financial meltdown than Messi playing for a few more years.
Top signing, he will prove to be one of the best CBs in the league when he settles.
I really like that outlook on squad building. If there are potential gems coming through in certain positions, I'd also be a little more hesitant in buying young talent for those positions.
As per the article, I think Amad will stay until January, and as he won’t have much game time by then with so many names ahead of him, he’ll go on loan then.
I think even a couple of seasons ago there weren't many good to great centre backs in the league, so to have Maguire, Varane, Van Dijk, Dias, Laporte, John Stones, Fofana, Romero and Konate to name but a few, seems like real good business by a lot of clubs to be fair.

Yep. We have two choices in my opinion:
1. Trim the fat and move on the likes of Lingard, James, and make Mata just a senior figure around the club which will allow Amad/Elanga some rotational game time; or
2. Loan them out now. Just get them playing football.
Owing to the practicalities of number 1, I’d go for option 2. A lot of people say things like being “too good for a loan”, which I get, a bit, but when there’s so many names ahead of you, all you need is football on a field. Especially when the talent isn’t in question like Amad.
No I don't think that's true at all, I'm pretty sure that Jones didn't take a 40% paycut over a longterm contract, but I stand to be corrected.
I'm not sure Amad is ready to be considered 'option'. In my opinion he falls in the 'needs nurturing' bracket, together with Elanga, Pellistri. Shoretire, Mejbri, Garner and Mengi pushing to get that 'status' too.
What I envision as the 'needs nurturing'? I think Greenwood was a perfect example of how a youngster should be integrated in the first team.
So what as front 'options'?
Wings: Rashford (out until Oct/Nov), James, Sancho, Lingard, Greenwood/Martial (I'd say one of the two, as the other one will be a ST back-up)
Strikers: Cavani, Greenwood/Martial
#10: Bruno, Donny, Lingard
Focusing on wingers: 5 players for 2 positions (4 until Rashford comes back), which is probably about right for a good squad depth. And there's just enough space for one youngster to get enough minutes (if everyone stays healthy).
With an eye on the end of the season, wishing that he has good depth, Ole could send one of the two (Amad, Elanga) out on loan until Christmas and it could work out well for them.
So I'm not sure the situation is as blue as the article suggests. Even though it's stated that Ole doesn't believe the arrival of Sancho blocks Amad's development, they still present it with a drama filter.
