Please no! Overrated by a country mile. He did display heart and some sneaky dirty fouls.

Crafton said the story isn't true which must be a record for the shortest transfer saga in Caf history.

Long weeks ahead before any real activity.

I expect nothing less than Fellaini's return.

I'd rather Carrick came out of retirement.

No, will stick with Fred and McT. Not exactly a better option.

No thanks. Not good enough. Even if he was good enough it’s only one way ticket when players leave United

Nah. Great guy, gave it his all, but he offers nothing we don’t already have in Fred and McTom.

Really average performer too limited in possession. Exactly the same can be said for Fred / Mctomminay but id prefer Mcfred over Herrera.

No thanks. Tidy player in his day but that's long gone. Fred is a better version of him.

Personally, I've always found him a very overrated player here to quite alot of United fans - watching him potentially leaving PSG having not achievied much would not be a surprise.

However, there has been links starting to rise about United re-signing Ander Herrera from PSG.

What do you think about this?

No thanks.
Personally, I think Herrera was horribly mismanaged during his time here. He was a very useful player and he could have been used more effectively if we recruited well and found good partnerships. The LVG sideways passing circus followed by Jose tactics completely under-utilized him.

I would place him somewhere between "crap average player" and "OMG whatta player"

Having said that, there was no way he was going to become some kind of midfield maestro. He had his limitations. And now he is 31 and his best years are done. So no point in bringing him back. I don't hate him. But neither do I love him so much to have him back. His overt expressions of passion were enjoyable.

What’s the point of this thread? There’s not even a hint in the article in the OP, just the musing of a ‘journalist’ on a slow news day.

He left us because we wouldn’t match PSG offer, now he’s 2 years older as well. There’s no appetite for any sort of reunion from both sides.

I think he’s better than Fred and McTominay, but only just. If we lose Pogba and have no one lined up, it makes sense to add a body in midfield, if we can get him for very little money or free.

He's not really what we should be looking for, but if it were a choice between him or nobody I'd definitely take him. Clear upgrade on McTominay. Or at least he was; I don't watch PSG so have no idea if he's dropped off since leaving.

In terms of the Fred vs Herrera chat going on, they are similar players both in style and ability. Herrera was better in the attacking and defensive thirds, Fred's better in the midfield third. So on the one hand you could say Herrera was better over more of the field, but on the other Fred was better in the more important part for his position. Probably depends on what your team needs as to which would be better.

It's obviously not going to actually happen, but I always wondered how Fred and Herrera would play together. Opposition teams would absolutely hate their constant pressing and harrying, that's for sure.

I liked him he was a decent player for us but he threw a hissy fit because the club had the audacity not to offer him a new contract when he was only 2 years into his current one.

Then he asked for silly money to stay and the club told him to get fecked.

So I don't want him back too old and not good enough.

not disputing your point but laughing at the idea of Wijnaldum as a flying RW in a 442
Ander plays RW or RB at times for PSG. A fair amount of their players are expected to be versatile. Marqinhos is another who plays CB and DM. I dont find it very surprising then that Wijnaldum is going to play some matches on the right of a 4-4-2. Right of a front 3 would be harder to explain

If, and this is a big if, it looks like we can’t get anyone else; I would absolutely take Herrera. Him next to Fred/Mcsause will absolutely be better than playing the two of them together, no question about it. Really good positional sense off the ball, and decent on it too. Think him and Fred would be a decent double pivot if Ole does indeed stick to it. Wouldn’t be my first choice, but would be glad to see him back if we can’t get our main targets.

Absolutely not. We already know that, at best, he’d be a squad player. There are far better players out there.

Not sure it was even worth starting a thread because the links are obviously complete bollocks.

But no, we already replaced him so he wouldn't add anything. Not the type of MF we need.

That article is written by that drunk Irish chap, Barry Glendenning. I’m not sure if he’s joking half the time or barely giving a feck at his job.

I'd only ever consider his return if it was just to get us by for one season, then we get our DM next summer.

Drama queens in here. He was a great player with a ton of passion, and 100% an upgrade on McT / Fred. Definitely shouldn't resign him though.

Not saying he was as good as Kante with this pic but these numbers speak for themselves. He had more interceptions in 500 fewer minutes than the man who was known for being great at them.

He seems like the type of person who would reduce his wage demand in order to play for United again. But why would he leave now? he has a chance to win Ligue 1, even the CL while also playing with Messi.

He seems more like the type who would leave United for more money. Based on that time he left Man United to make more money.

Probably just lazy stories as he'll likely play less this season with the new arrival? Not like he played much here so would probably play more in France anyway and continue getting a bigger pay packet.

To be fair we waited until he had less than 6 months left on his deal before offering him a new contract, by which time he already had the contract offer from PSG on the table. Put yourself in his shoes where one club has come in with big money while the other seems uncertain if they even want to keep you, it's hard to really blame him.
