I think Dan James is a better footballer than Pepe, i really do. 70M for Pepe, i really expect to see some top class plays from him but i am yet to see it
Nah he is not.

James would never get like 18 goals all comps.

Pepe ain't worth 70 mil but he is a better player than James

This is the mystery with Arteta - I honestly think people don't realise how bad this Arsenal team are but then they don't even play good football. I kind of got what he was going for when he started but they aren't even playing that way anymore, they just look a mess.
The thing is we had that here, we played super well and then the quality of our squad came through and we looked like shit. I think it’s really hard to play the type of attacking football I imagine Arteta wants to play not necessarily with a bad squad but with a squad that isn’t your own.

That Arsenal team is shocking.

Mid table at best and a long road back to being at the top if they ever do get back up there.

I made this point in the Arteta thread and was shot down in flames. I think the trend is always to largely blame the manager without mitigation. There is clearly some mitigation. Not completely, it is indeed hard to see what the plan is on the pitch.

Until White very little has been spent by the manager and when you look at the squad he has to play with its not an enviable task. There is always that residual expectation that Arsenal should be doing this or that but the truth is it's hard to see how they're up to meeting those expectations.

That said, he hasn't made a case that he is the man to give funds to.

I’d cry if I was an Arsenal fan, to go from the great teams they’ve had to this is nothing short of criminal

I think the hate he gets is too much, but it seems as if they made Toney in a lab to be everything Lindelof is weakest against.
So we better not let Toney get a free run at Lindelof. That is what defensive partnerships are for.

Thats what Varane is for, anyway Lindelof is fine, the narrative about him is unfair.

What is annoying here is that Rashford's injury has been mentioned plenty but Lindelof played all season with a back injury which hampers him significantly.

I think he'll have a better season this year than people expect.

To be somewhat fair to them, don't they have many starting players out for various reasons? Like Aubameyang, Lacazette, Bellerin etc.

Yeah but even with those 2 added in its still a below average side. I'd be pretty worried this season if I was an arsenal fan.

If Ben White turns out to be a better signing than Varane (like some pundits have claimed) - then Varane will be a flop. White has been really poor in this first half.

Arteta and Arsenal would do extremely well to qualify for the Europa League with the tools at their disposal. They have fallen so, so far.

When has he ever tried to play attacking football? He's no Guardiola.

White had a far better coach in Potter to bring out his strengths. They played a back 5 and he was never this exposed. Poundland Pep hasn't a clue

How do players like Chambers and Xhaka stay at Arsenal for so long?
Came to post about Chambers. We moan about having Jones hanging around but at least he's way down the pecking order. If Chambers was still getting starts for my team I'd be tearing my hair out.

Funny fact: In "live" league positions, Arsenal went from top (due to alphabetical order) to bottom (due to goal difference). Probably the biggest movement in league position EVER after just one goal! LOL!

I can’t believe we used to fear playing Arsenal. The gap between them and the top “six” is huge now!!

Must be nerves but Ben looks nothing like a defender right now. But Arsenal's problems are all due to no style and no game plan. Brentford have a clear idea and it's going well for them. Arsenal just turned up with some matching shirts and shorts.

Mbuemo is like a Sterling lite. Poor season from him last year after a stunning campaign the year before, hopefully he regains his form in the Premier League.
