Looking for Eric
It was good to see Pogba/Bruno and Greenwood/James interchanging positions. Lindelof solid, made 2 important interceptions and played a perfect pass for Bruno to score.

Had a Fulham 2006/07 opening day vibe. Awesome

Can't remember the last time we had such a fun and convincing season opener, maybe Swansea under Moyes?
2019-20?

But no. We crushed Chelsea, but we didn't dominate the game like this.

Perfect start. Need to just carry on this momentum now with the initial run of games we have. V pleased for Fred.

Get in there.

Great performance, Bruno scoring a brilliant hat-trick and Pogba was fantastic.

Good to see the family that normally sat behind Fergie back on tv as well.

Great start.

Very happy with the win, the media have really written us off. I was incredibly positive before the game and with not playing a top six side until October, I really think we can get some good momentum.
There are too many positives from today, Shaw, Greenwood, Pogba, Fred, Lindelof, Bruno were all fantastic and with so many players still to come in/get fit it all looks good. There are four capable teams and we are one. Chelsea are doing a number on palace today and Liverpool will score a good few at Norwich, so we might get knocked off top, it doesn’t matter though, great start.
All we need is a Spurs win though and it’ll be a great weekend. If anyone needs a laugh pop over to the blue moon forum and see how angry they are and how many times they call us c**ts. I think we’ve rattled their cage

Chelsea two seasons ago?
Ah.. the match when scoreline didn't reflect actual game? Completely different vibes. Chelsea were playing great in that game, they just unlucky not to score 2 or 3 more goals.

We dominated Leeds from every corner today.

Behind the right goal post as "Whiteside shoots!"
Great match, fans were amazing, singing zone now between Stretford End and South Stand, were good all game. Leeds fans tried god bless them but the fourth killed them.

Team performance was good, if Leeds had scored a half chance in first 30 minutes, may have been different but we always looked in control and every player was good/very good.

I'd heard about a few fights in town. On train home and there's a Leeds fan on the phone, just said someone got stabbed.

We did to Leeds what they do to sheep at Elland Road. Feels a lot like after the Fulham game at the start of 2006/07. All of a sudden we have a little momentum. Let's see where it can get us.

So easy to pick for the next game. Sancho in for James, see where varane is fitness wise. Great team performance today.

I asked this in the matchday thread, but I might as well do it here as well.

Which finish was better: Greenwood or Bruno's third? For me, it's Bruno.

Didnt expect that. Levels of fitness were exceptional. Actually in a state of shock.
Leeds were obviously not at the level they normally are but still we played with intent and quickly.
What was hugely noticeable for me was the amount of balls we tried to play in behind quickly. Very rarely any of that stupid sideways risk free passing we normally do.
Think we had less passes than Leeds in the game yet had about 100 more openings.

Start as we mean to go on, top of the table and scoring loads of goals. Everyone played well and all the signs for this season are great. Varane coming out as the warm up act made it even better.

Best goal has to be Bruno's 3rd but just listening to the roar of the fans is great.

I think most plated well except James, wasteful is attack. Sancho will x3 better.
Of course Sancho is a better player than James. But you need a squad to win leagues and cups, and you can't have players like Sancho value as squad players.

James will step in and do a job when needed, give his best and work his arse off. Nobody expects him to be the best player but he'll play a role and that's what counts.

It looked really noticeable that this is a squad that have played together for a while. That first XI have all been together for a while now.
We have familiarity and partnerships across the field.

Obviously we want to get Sancho and Varane into the side etc but it doesn’t feel like we even need to rush them in because we have a settled core to the side for the first time in forever.

I prefer Greenwood's. There's only one place he can finish it and it has to be inch perfect. Plus, it was a pivotal goal in the game.

I think we passed the ball sideways mostly in our own half. Up front the players seemed to know what to do. Good to see.

Bruno's goal was spectacular all around - the pass, the run, the volley, the way it flew under the cross bar.
But if you take Mason's finish in isolation, I think the finish itself was better. It had to be precise and well directed.

Overall I'd give it to Bruno.

Only downside is having to wait a week to watch us play again now

I will be watching the replays on MUTV every chance I can get!
