Quite frankly we will need to sign a proper cheap no 9 to see us through til the summer the way it's going, this is the one position that I would pass on a midfielder for until next year even though know that probably sounds totally nuts

Yeah I've goy no idea why you'd take a cheap number 9 when we've got Greenwood, Cavani and Martial with Rashford capable of playing there as well.

It only seems like a couple of years since Rooney handed in a transfer request and tried to move to Man City himself.

I've no idea how close they are but if they are friends, he could offer C. Ronaldo some insight for sure.
Chelsea, not City

Nah before the Chelsea summer there was the one where he was rumored to go to City
Yes - he handed in a formal transfer request in 2010 (because he'd agreed terms with City) and then asked to leave again in 2013 (because he wanted to join Chelsea). He got new contracts at United on each occasion and was welcomed back in with open arms by most United fans.

Martial is currently an unknown quantity, Cavani likely to be quarantining for chunks of the campaign, Rashford can't really play there at all and I'm not sure Greenwood is up to it yet.

While it would be nice for the nostalgia and love, I dont think paying massive wages for a short term solution would be the right move when we already got Cavani (which probably is alot cheaper as well).

Could even hamper our chances to sign Haaland if too much was spent and it was more than a 1 year deal.

A 36 year old Ronaldo is about on level par with Ings. It is not a big loss.

Who would've thought that arguably the three best players in the world would transfer in the same window. Messi, Ronaldo, Mbappe.

Ffs. The downplaying of Ronaldo is far more tedious than any Ronaldo fanboys at this stage.

At least the fan boys are much closer to the mark when it comes to what the current Ronaldo is capable of.

Ronaldo for City will smash in a shed load of goals, quote me on it.

Pedullà is a good Italian journalist who deals with the transfer market (he was the first to say about Sarri at Chelsea and Lukaku at the blues this year), he says we tried to make a "desperate" attempt in the night

What set out to be a quiet window due to the pandemic is probably going to be one of the most memorable windows ever.

Haha imagine the City rumours were engineered by Ronaldo’s camp because they knew we’d have to move for him to avoid the embarrassment of him going to City

I feel like getting neither of Moriba or Camavinga would be a huge opportunity missed, should be getting both of them.

Little point “having” to sell players first when there’s a great chance that these deals will look like bargains in a year or two.

The tweet seems to suggest that he wants to join City despite a desperate attempt from United?

How is it we sign two fantastic players in one window and then all of a sudden our transfer business is deemed poor after other teams start shifting players? Ronaldo to City sucks but I don’t see him coming back even if Cavani didn’t renew. It also wouldn’t be happening had City signed Kane. Perhaps PSG will come in with a late bid to save the day. Besides, we have bigger problems in MF than up front.

The rumours will clearly start that we tried to sign him and he turned us down to go back to City.. This was coming a mile off

MaxFraudefeld and CFraudBayern concur tha Bayern are going after Ginter, who is supposed to join them next summer (free) at the latest, but they are supposedly also in talks with Gladbach to make it happen immediately.

Falk taking another shot at formulating a coherent tweet in English. A heartbreaking struggle.
