His name is sung in the stadium season after season, he won everything here, in his last season he was the best player that has EVER graced this league, has since gone on to win everything elsewhere and now returns to help us regain our status as top dogs.
I've never been as entertained before or since Ronaldo, the feeling we had going into games with him was fecking imperious, you just knew he would influence and probably win you the game, I've never felt that since or before (shout out to RVP though), it was a uniquely enjoyable period, that makes him a legend in my eyes without a second thought. Especially when you factor in him being a huge factor in winning everything during that period.
He could leave a top-five goalscorer at the club.
Every former United legend regard him as a club legend which is telling as well. You'll struggle to find a single one of his peers that don't regard him as such, including SAF.
I was devastated when he left for Madrid but it was his dream, I got over it and enjoyed watching his career regardless because he gave everything here and is by a distance the best footballer I have ever seen for the club (I never saw Best, Law, Charlton.) He was simply electrifying, I still think some of his best football was played at United before he went to Madrid and become the ultimate goal machine.
Basically it seems it boils down to fans thinking players have to be a one-club player and never so much as
negotiate on their contract renewals or be linked to other clubs for them to be classed as club legends? Yeah feck off.
If that's the case there will never be club legends ever again.
