Thought about it a bit -
Lingard, James, Martial, Amad, in that order, need to be sold or loaned.

Think a 2-striker formation partnering with Greenwood will suit Ronaldo, it can't be a 4-4-2 for Bruno, so a diamond or 3-5-2. Which leaves a massive question about RWB and a big question mark over Sancho - he can *maybe* be shoehorned into the RCM position of a diamond?

Maybe change formations depending on personnel each game, lots of rotation? Not been Ole's style so far.
It'll and should be McFred in double pivot with pog left Bruno 10 and Sancho right with Ronnie up top.

I know it doesn't matter, but I really hope he gets the #7.

The Premier League should be embarrassed if they wouldn't make an exception for a number change during the season(assuming Cavani gives it up).

That will have all the same issues we have now. Also means no room for Cavani, Greenwood, Rashford.
We can't change the double pivot as of now and the rest can't all play at the same time it's rotation and a good problem to have. But as of now its our best front 6.

We shouldn't put pogba in the pivot where he's shit to accommodate let's say Rashford. It's a long season and as I say it's a good problem to have but that's our strongest front 6 at the moment. (I know Scott has the surgery to get back from)

You'd be happy with Amad sold?

What issues? One presumes a DM comes in before the end of the window - Lingard seems heading out - so can swap one of Fred/McTominay out (McFred together isn't too bad).

Cavani is here for another 9 months. Not an issue for United if he doesn't play often.

Rashford can have plenty of game time if we're facing clubs intent on opening up - having Pogba switch to CM.

Greenwood can literally come on every game/rotate to replace Ronaldo/Sancho.

Not to mention, highly, highly unlikely Fernandes, Pogba, Ronaldo and Sancho are going to be fit all at the same time for even 80% of the games.

I don't follow much transfer news - is that likely at all? If there's someone capable of playing DM in a 2 with Pogba, that solves almost all issues.

Isn’t registration already done and submitted? Im not sure changing numbers is possible at this stage.
The club would have to seek a special dispensation from the Premier League for a number change at this stage.

It's never been granted before, but it's Ronaldo.

It depends on Cavani giving up the number/perhaps the club pushing for the CR7 branding(and Ronaldo himself pushing for it).

They won’t do it. I know it’s Ronaldo but the league isn’t going to make an exception for him.

If you're asking these questions you clearly have no idea and need to go and watch Ronaldo from last season and the Euros.
I don't hold much store by the Italian league. It's always been an old folks home in recent years for players who lost their pace. But Juve didn't seem to think Ronnie was all that if some of the reports are to be believed.

Anyway I just don't know. Not a big sentimentalist but who knows. I'd rather have a good DM myself but where's the fun in that?

We have too many top attacking players now that we'll have trouble fitting them all in. So we definitely shouldn't sacrificing one to squeeze Lindelof into the team. 352 has never worked for us outside a few games.

Why is no-one worried about him being 36? Isn't he too old now? What am I missing? Yes I know he looks after himself but that won't stop him getting slower.
At 36 he is still top scorer in Italy (beats Lukaku, Immobile etc) and Euro (beats Mbappe/Lewandoski/Lukaku/Kane etc). I think we all know we can’t judge Ronaldo in same way we judge normal players. 36 to Ronaldo is like 29 to others.

Ronaldo at age 35-36:
- 36 goals in 44 games for Juventus
- 7 goals in 9 games for Portugal
- total 43 goals in 53 games overall

I mean, he literally scored 43 goals last season at top level, why need to worry so much about his scoring form this coming season? Would you worry about Haaland, Mbappe, Lewandoski scoring form this season too, if they joined us?

If you're good enough you're young enough.

Not to mention he had no support at Juve at times

Probably sounds silly but feel excited for the first time his name will be on a squad list, starting XI or even that posing thing before games on Sky Sports because still is totally surreal and cannot believe he is coming home

What about this, will he be Captain?
Don’t think so. Harry has been a good captain. He won’t be replaced. It will be like Rio playing in the same team as Keane. They are both captain material. One just leads without the armband.

This actually isn't being emphasised enough. He's coming into a much better team. That wasn't the case 3-4 years ago, but as of 2021, United are a far better team with far better squad depth than Juventus. Will be feeding off service from Bruno, Pogba, Sancho and Shaw. What more could you ask for?

He’s not a United player yet. We need to stop making this mistake as we’re tempting fate. Wait until medical, personal terms and visa are agreed.
I've just had flashbacks of Ruud's ACL injury the first time we tried to sign him. :(

He fits us better than most people think. We shouldnt expect Ronaldo the flying winger, we dont need another runner. We have loads of runners already. What we need the most is a finisher and someone who can drag defenders around and he is exactly that. Defenders will be glued to him like a magnet. I also fancy him to beat most defenders in the league at headers and based on the last game we're good at corners now.

Silly question but is he still fast? Haven't watched much of him at Juve.
I've been watching his videos of his time at Juve and Real. Must be honest, I've not really watched him play myself. I get annoyed at the thought of us losing him back when he was hitting his prime.

Still looks pretty quick to me. Maybe not as quick as when he was with us. But at least he doesn't do that dodgy hesitation step when he takes his penalties anymore.

He's not as fast as he was in 2009, but he's still fast.

His movement is still exceptional in the final 3rd.

His ball-carrying is still really good, but his dribbling has definitely declined since the United/early Real days.
