Seen that win under Ferguson so many times.

At the end of the season nobody cares if wolves are the moral winners of that match. Couldn't care less how we win an early season game. We'll get much better as the season goes on

Liverpool I thought were hopeless against a 10 man Chelsea, completely lacked ideas and just took a bunch of pot shots. These idiotic views ruin this forum.
I havent been invloved in the whole 'Ole out' brigade, but who is to blame when that amount of talent plays as badly as that?. I mean its not like it only happens once every 10 games or something.
Its the coaching thats the problem.

Richard Keys called Ole embarrassing and not as clever as Fergie. They are seething

Yup, it’s a great win and seen it a lot of times in the past

How we have so many upset supporters after today I will never understand

Classic got out of jail job.

Archetypal championship winning type stuff. But we won't get giddy too soon.

Varane and Maguire were fairly excellent, bar one moment where Traore sprinted past Maguire.
But he's such a freak physical specimen who can make even the fastest players look mugs.

Get in there.

Not sure how we got away with that but who cares, we always struggle with Wolves anyway on the grounds they have a midfield that works.

Massive result it feels like already.

Mason sure does score some important goals doesnt he.
If Aguero or Kane had done that, the pundits would be waxing lyrical

Obviously the win is great, but I'm just as chuffed with a clean sheet for our new back 5, especially with it being Varene's first game, and De Gea performing like we know he can.

Winning when playing poorly, sign of champions

Idiotic? Liverpool do lack ideas but at least they can actually build from the back unlike the shambles we witnessed today. And at least they struggled to break down one of the best defensive sides in Europe while United barely managed anything against Wolves.

Exactly. Many seem to have forgotten that we've had our fair share of below average games under Fergie, only to edge it in the end through individual brilliance and a never give in attitude.

All xG tells you is who created more chances to score. It doesn't tell you anything about coaching or patterns of play or anything about the manager really. But people seem happy to use it as a cudgel to beat Ole with whenever another teams has a higher xG than us.
I posted it to show the extent to which Wolves created more than us today, to underline the point that anyone who was watching the game would have realised; we were very lucky to win.

The fact that we won obviously doesn't mean we weren't lucky to win. It also obviously doesn't make xG meaningless. And I didn't mention the manager, at all. So I have no idea what point you're making or why you decided to make it in response to my post.

With rose tinted glasses, under Fergie every win was a dominant performance.

Jesus. Forgot how poisonous this place is at times.

we didn’t play well the first half, but I thought we started to improve in the second half. Bringing on Cavani and getting Dan James off the pitch is a huge upgrade. Wolves were in a 5-4-1 when in their defensive half, pretty tough to break down. All of their chances came on the break and the one corner, didn’t give up hardly any chances when they were building.

‘Those slagging off Sancho… get a grip. We have a lot of new players, it takes time to become a team. A lot of nifty touches in tight spaces, once we get on the same page, we’ll create a lot of chances.

Let’s stay positive and optimistic.

He's completely derailed dvb. Like to the point he may never see the pitch again. Rashford has gotten worse since ole arrived. Pogba has been inconsistent since he arrived and was already a top tier player before he met ole. Bruno has been fine. Greenwood looks fine. James hasn't evolved at all. Martial gotten worse.

Ole is great at managing the personalities of players but can't help them strategically at all
Bollocks. James is getting plenty of space and opportunities, his problem is his touch and pass and he can really only blame himself for that.

Rashford has had one mediocre season, probably hampered by injuries.

Trying to blame Pogba's inconsistencies on Ole? And Martial? That's a stretch.

It does happen fairly infrequently. We're not a control type team so to expect us to control games like City do is the wrong metric to judge him by. Mot games, we create tons and score tons. Now and again our midfield looks clueless at playing out as it was in the first half today.

How about recognizing that we had two new players who still are bedding in and some injuries in midfield which forced us to play Pogba in there? The only thing you can ask is what's going on with VDB, and even then we don't really know what's going on behind the scenes.

CM is, of course, a worry. Other than that, the signs are pretty good. Won a game even with several players playing poorly. When they all play well, we can hammer teams. Ronnie to come as well.

A decent CM would put us on an even footing with City, maybe even above. Thing is, CM is a very bad area of the pitch to be weak. Even so, if the lads we’ve got get their heads up and play as well as they can (which is with limited quality but, on a good day, effective) then a proper tilt at the title is on the cards.

An ugly win, but I’ll take it. Varane was an impressive signing.

We can’t have the game dictated to us like that. These away games are going to be such hard work unless we find a way to take the sting out of things early on - particularly with fans back.

Take the three points and run. We will undoubtedly improve. Viva Ronaldo.

Sky even had Neves up on Sky talking about the foul specifically.

Did they get Bruno up last week after the Southampton goal? That was far more of a foul than this one.

not blaming pogba on ole, should have been clearer. He's just inconsistent in general. Ole hasn't made him better like the poster was insinuating though. Of course James in mediocre, but coaches are supposed to improve players or else why buy them. Rashford was played injured for most of the season, I hold that against ole regardless of when rashford comes back.

I'm just questioning out logic that because one teams had a lower xG they were lucky to win. Very frequently you see teams winning with a lower xG - usually when you have a good GK and clinical strikers.

Still relieved with the win. The table doesn't care how we get the points, but now I'll need to look at pictures of Ronaldo for a while to hopefully ease the frustration from how we actually played today.

That 1-0 win at Anfield with ten men when O'Shea scored that hilarious scrappy 90th minute winner was one of the most enjoyable wins I've ever seen. I still put it on YouTube every so often

Fergie won the League and other trophies so many times, a few average games isn't a concern. Meanwhile..

So what if the roles were reversed and we played like Wolves today and are leaving with nothing at the end of the day despite dominating the game? Would you be satisfied because we were the better side or disappointed because we have dropped points?
I'll take the win. But we have a midfield problem, no point in pretending otherwise.

Nothing better than beating that bunch of game raising, cheating scruffbags than with a dodgy decision.

You actually watched that game and thought we weren't lucky to win?
