Never had the chance to name drop Said(Soprano) till this haha. Damn I miss France, going to try and watch a PSG game this year, stayed in Epinay just outside Paris, used to go to Parc regularly back then when Kombouare was manager, back when they had a soul. I was hoping Lille would maintain their challenge but Letang had to mess it up. Lyon are a mess with Bosz, I expected this, Monaco were amazing in the second half of the season last year but now can't buy a win and Ma
This will indeed be a breeze for PSG.

So I've been to 3 games this last week or so and I have to say French football is very entertaining!

Lille losing 0-4 to Nice
Reims scoring in the last minute to draw 3 all with Montpellier
Lyon throwing away a 2 goal lead to draw 3 all with newcomers Clermont after scoring one of the best goals I've ever seen live.

A great week it was!

Edit: should add that the players who caught my eye were Kebbal of Reims and Guimaraes of Lyon.

Admittedly first time I’ve watched PSG in the league for a year or so and only started watching second half but they look so sloppy !

They are. Not as impressive as they should be. A touch of arrogance about them, just turn up and win. They are a bunch of individuals, not a team.

I think this will always be their downfall when it comes to the UCL, you’re not getting tested enough week in week out and always going to rely on star players which tbf they do have a few of them

There is something truly absurd about having the best team in the world(on paper) in the 6th best league.

Mentally they must be autopiloting. I guess that's why they get so many red cards when they look like dropping points.

Messi just ambling around the pitch. He'll get bored of this in 6 months.

Glad to finally see him out there, it's finally believable. Definitely a bit rusty and will need some time but he's finally playing. Hakimi once again so impressive on the break, just fast and powerful.

Which one is your 5th best league? England, Spain, Germany, Italy..?

Didn't know they were this rough. Psg aren't dominant given the talent they have. Can easily see them crashing out of the CL. I doubt Messi will give 100% until CL and Argentina

Portugal according to the coefficient.
That will almost certainly sort itself out once we're past the scrub qualification rounds of Europe

Either way, I'm just not sure this is ever gonna feel right, just watched some of the game for Messi coming on, it's just a bit odd.

PSG are nowhere near as good as people think they are. They played better under Blanc in my opinion.

Yeah, but this is football not FIFA 21, the team has to learn to play with one another.

Some very savvy anylisis of PSG here, none of them mentioning that most starting players are playing their 1st or 2nd game of the season. We have a lot of players from Argentina, brasil and Italy, who ended up reaching the final of Copa/euro.

Don't get me wrong, Pochettino fails to show any sign of real gameplan so far but the 1st couple of games of the season aren't a fair measure.

Also, there's a lot of CL games where PSG showed they were more than a sum of individualities, I don't even get this narrative.

It's the same people who'd complain about Sancho being overrated because he didn't deliver an assist in his first start. :houllier:

Never seen a player on their debut look so depressed.

That was awful to see, he look totally lost.

Almost like the realisation of what's happened has finally hit him.

While that may be true, the larger point to be made here is that despite PSG carrying French football pretty heavily, Portugal can still occasionally out-rank France. And when you think about it: is the average Premiera Liga team worse than the average Ligue 1 team? Probably not.

PSG are nowhere near as good as people think they are.
That's because it's a team of rich prima donnas who take winning the league for granted. The moment a challenger appears(like last season), they panic rather than relish the challenge. They don't play to win the league. The play to not lose it.

In theory this should leave them well-rested for the CL, but I actually think it's a disadvantage. They are not as sharp as they could be when they have to perform against genuinely good teams.

No team in particular.

Is it surprising, french teams aside from PSG and Monaco are economically in shambles, they do survive selling players abroad.
Do you even realize that Marseille got outbid for Kanté by Leicester (which isn't even a big english team btw) when the english team got promoted to PL right?

PL mid table teams can buy players from other top 3 leagues with no problem, except from Bayern,Madrid,Barcelona and PSG.

I can only go off the touch compilation video on YouTube, but Messi seems a bit lost on the field? He held on to the ball well and made quick passes as soon as he is closed down, but none of PSG players on the receiving end of those passes seemed to be capable of a quick lay off back to him.

Can't draw any conclusion yet, obviously, but Pocchettino will have to find a way to get him much more involved in the game.
