I think the club will appeal to the PL for an exemption, which is logical since there is a vacant number that is 'wanted' by a current player in the name of Cavani.
Hope so, but I’ve read it’s unlikely to happen. Would love to see CR7 though it’s only right.

He has my outermost respect. I wish him all the success his hardwork and talent deserves.
Some players are just shameless in that they will prefer to sit and get paid for nothing.

Really wish him the best, seems like a decent lad. Unfortunately wasn't of the required standard here.

Like how people saying Leeds are a good fit for him and he will do well there? How exactly he is utter shite, £30m is an amazing deal for us.

Best of luck to him, he tried hard here and hope he does do well there......but he was an absolutely awful buy, even early on when he was scorign some goals it was blindingly obvious he just wast nowhere near the desired level to succeed here

Few reactions off Leeds supporters from their forums, let's just say they ain't happy

If we had that kind of money, then Lingard was the Man Utd player to target.
Can this day get any worse? Can this start of a season get much worse?
25-30mil for dan james? Thats a record sum by the vlub for a player that cant be worth it!
For that kind of money we could've gone for lang, or at least bid for all them other players like kuna and de paul.

That's bad business imho. We are looking at selling costa short of what we bought him, yet willing to buy dan james in a higher price than scums bought him. Ridiculous.
Rumours circulating £30m agreed for James, seriously hope that isn't true. I'm assuming it'll be something like £20m up front with £10m in add-ons, something like that - madness!
Embarrassing that we're so happy to be ripped off like this. This is why I hate buying domestically arghh.

£20m+ is still an extortionate amount of money.
£20m for someone who isn't better than we have is ridiculous, especially if money is supposedly tight. This is how you get yourselves into financial problems.

Not falling for the "Bielsa rates him so he must be good" line either. Bielsa rates Roberts, Costa, Cooper and Ayling.
30 million for Dan f**king James. I feel sick.
Thats ludicrous and highlights the stupidity of the domestic market.

Absolute madness I'm sorry (not his fault) thats insane money.

Jeremie Boga who is a similar age with a pretty decent Serie A record is going for about £15-18mil.

I feel very sorry for Dan James for a second time.

I think a 21 year old Dan James coming into United now, as apposed to 2 seasons ago. Would have been allowed a more slower integration and less reliance, giving him more time to develop naturally. I think the shirt weighs heavy on his shoulders, in comparison to some of his performances for Wales.

I don't think anyone thinks he is good enough as a starter, although until this season I'd have accepted him as a decent squad option. But after the signings this summer and the development of some within. I genuinely don't see him as an option on either wing.

Rashford and Pogba will always be preferred left, Martial is an option there. As is Elanga whom has more potential (would benefit from James' minutes). Greenwood and Sancho offer a different option on the right, with Mata also offers something James cannot and we appear to be keeping Amad now too.

All in all he seems like a nice lad, I wouldn't say he never gave it his all. It is just that his best isn't United standard. He was a Maddison like punt, who is going to net us a profit.

I'm sure he'll do well for Leeds.

Leeds' playing style and Bielsa's coaching will be great for him. Given we've already played them once this season, hope he slots in well and helps take points off our rivals :p

In any case, nice hard working lad who gave his best which unfortunately wasn't good enough for Utd but that's hardly his fault. Wish him the best.

Fair play to the lad.
Showing ambition to go out and get game time. He will always have my respect.

Unlike Lingard and Jones.

Well that's simply only true with hindsight. And a lot of his best performances have been for Wales - he was REALLY good at the Euro's. Unusual for us to turn a profit on any player.

Playing vs 2 blocks of 4 for us vs playing for Leeds where they are attacked much more and in turn have plenty of open space to work with are 2 very different propositions. Lingard for example showed how someone whk looks clueless for us can do very well at a mid table club. No guarantees in football but given his playing style, Leeds will suit him a lot more than us.
