He didn't conquer the world and return home.

He conqered the world from home, left, continued to conquer, and then returned home.

He’s a commercial monster, it will make perfect sense financially. Expect us to sign some massive sponsorship deals off the back of this.
Carrington/training kit sponsorship is up for renewal, isn't it. Plus, we're looking for a new "car partner" (after dispensing with Chevvy and dividing out the kit deals and car deals separately).

You'd imagine that the value of both of these prospective deals will be buoyed by this.

25m net is around £1m per week gross, I don't think bonuses and add ons will be worth a further 550k per week to make that net figure work. Anyway I think journalists in England are mixing up gross and net. I would believe that he's on 450k per week net, which would be close to what he was on at Juve and he's worth every penny.
Yeah the 450k is probably net because when Fabrizio talks about his wages, he then compares it to the 31M he was earning at Juve which was net.

Is there an alternative angle of this? Always annoyed me that the camera cuts to a close up and you miss half of the shot.

How will the away fans react to Ronaldo ?

He was quite booed when he was here before.

Will people show more appreciation ?

Doubt it. Little Englanders will be twice as hostile probably.

I remember when he was back from 2006 world cup was heavily booed in England, then away match to Charlton it was I think that he hit one rocket of shot that hit the bar and the crowd went silent. They will boo him for first few games and then when Ronaldo gets down to business they will get quiet

For those saying you're crying after "Sir Alex, this one is for you...", you do realise that you're crying over a statement written by a PR team? It's really sad.
You wouldn’t understand when your owner is your biggest legend and the reason you’re relevant.

The next 2 weeks of buildup is actually better for the unveiling at OT. The anticipation rises with each passing day and the noise is going to be that much louder. I wish I was living in the UK and could go to this game. Wouldnt be anywhere else in the world on Sept. 11.

He will be booed, but he is older now and it will be kind of the «we have to boo you, but you hear it’s only appreciation»-kind of thing.

If anyone is concerned about Ronaldo's age at 36 - This is Ronaldo at Juventus

He jumped 71cm of the ground to score the header. To provide some context: That is an absolutely ridiculous jump and is actually exactly the median for a NBA players vertical jump of 71cm. He's got elite level athleticism and is nowhere near finished being in the Ballon D'or conversation. With a hangtime of 1.5 seconds, this is one of the greatest headers in football of all time.

In fact he jumped so high they made a "Try it in the streets" video about it, just to give some perspective on hos ridiculous this actually is to normal people.

that jump is fake, Ronaldo had springs inside his legs.

I was glad we signed him over Ronaldiho back in 2003, I'm not going to lie i wanted Ronaldiho but after watching Ronnie play against us in a sporting shirt, all I could think of was "when are we going to sign that boy that was dribbling the he'll out of our players" thankfully we did sign him and he gave us seven wonderful years.

I wasn't surprised by the levels he reached whilst he was here and after, because he was that talented. If anyone would have told me we'll signed him back for what looks like the bargain of this summer i won't have believe, because at 36 he's still going to lit this Leauge up with fireworks of goals.

Never imagined I'll watch him at United, Real and United again, I'm buzzing, the Newcastle game can't come quick enough.

This one has it without the close up + some alternative angles.
Thats the only goal that I didn't celebrate as a Utd fan... purely because I just had my mouth open in sheer amazement at what I had just witnessed

Sorry but this is wrong.
71cm is widely quoted but I never see a source. Even if it is a correct number it is likely to be standing vert which is a totally different metric.

The NBA combine is the best place to source real data on elite basketball players.
The average in 2021/22 season is 76.8 for standing vert and 93.4 for running vert.

Ronaldo is a good athlete, its a great header and the timing/execution are brilliant.
But athletically he is not comparable to these guys.

I’d understand the skepticism if it was the same deal as Juve payed but for the prices mentioned I really don’t see what’s so wrong about it. 15 million euros payed across 5 years, you just sold James for twice as much money. The wages are big but it’s only 2 years and it’s a significantly lower amount than at Juve. You also have to take into account that part of it will be payed back through merchandise sales and raising the profile of the club (bigger sponsorship deals, etc) so the wages shouldn’t be looked at as any other player’s. Plus it prevented him from going to a direct rival where he would have thrived…

Even if he doesn’t have as big of an impact as many expect I really don’t see how this is a bad deal financially.

When you walk into the 'Theatre of Dreams' and you feel the ghosts of the legends who have been there before; when you score a goal right in front of the Stretford End; when you hear the crowd chanting your name; when your heart beats so strong that it bursts out of your chest; when you feel that you will love them as much as they love you; you will know, my friend, that finally you have made it home.

And these NBA guys are on average 10 cm taller than Ronaldo too.

What do you make of the transfer from a sporting perspective? Do you think Ronaldo made the right choice leaving Juve at this stage of his career to a more fast paced and physically demanding league with no guarantee that he’ll win anything? As a neutral, do you think he was better of going to city as he’ll have a greater chance of winning trophies.

From a sentimental point of view, the transfer is obviously great for United fans though.

At this money it's a no brainer. Only question is how does it affect on the pitch. With Ronaldo wanting to play every game and wanting to be the focus. While it's possible that Cavani might be a better no. 9....and has a better work rate?

My favorite Ronaldo goal -

There may of been more important goals, or even better, but the distance, the fact it was Champs League semi's, and Tydsleys classic 'Too far for Ronaldo to think about it....huuuuh!'.
Just classic. :D

Yeah, it's not a big risk if his wages are not insanely high. Transfer fee is nothing, paying 3 million per year for 5 years. It's all about wages.

This transfer has lifted everyone at the club already, the buzz this transfer generated was unreal. The way players talk, it's like meeting their hero or celebrity.

As a Ronaldo fan I just root for him to make his legacy as big as possible before he retires. From his perspective it would have been more likely to succeed (more goals, trophies and records) at City than at United but any success he has at United will mean a lot more than it would have otherwise. It's a huge risk to go to the Premier League at 36 years old but I still love that it happened.

Yeah I agree with your assessment. Let’s just hope it works out for all parties involved and he closes his career on a high.
