If we can't beat Newcastle, at Old Trafford, with a full house and the forward and defensive players we have, even with a Matic / VdB midfield pairing, then we really should just pack it all in.

We will beat Newcastle tomorrow and it will be pretty comfortable.

Alright, but Ronaldo obviously isn't very good at hitting the target, so why can't we question when Ole is telling us fairytales? He is indeed the manager of Manchester United, he can't just come up with what he feels like.
If you don't like Ole, state it clearly. Stop attacking meaningless rubbish. He scores 99 times out of 100 means he scores goals almost all the time. If you choose to accept it or not, it doesn't change facts. And the fact is that Ronaldo has dominated the EPL, La Liga and Serie A scoring chats. Your hate for Ole will not stop that from happening again. Be happy for once. Jesus!

“At some point” — what we thinking, are we taking this to mean he starts on the bench?
No, it only means we can stay ambiguous for now, we don't have to give the team sheet until tomorrow.

That's basically how I feel - add to that - they are missing Wilson and Fraser so it's basically keep Saint Maximin quiet

Yeah, but it's this type of trap games that we don't turn up.

Still think we'll twat them though, Ronaldo lives for this type of games.

Think everyone is on board with Ole just using a figure of speech here, no one is saying he should actually say in the presser: 'He shoots and 41 times out of a hundred it's on target'

Obviously, no one expects that. But if you say that he hits the target 99/100 times (when he clearly isn't even in the top bracket in doing so) it seems kind of weird. If he would say the same for Fred, everyone would be laughing. But now it's the Golden Boy and everyone ignores (or my guess, doesn't know) what he has done in his past season.

It's just an expression, I doubt Ole was trying to be accurate

Behind the right goal post as "Whiteside shoots!"

You think journalists and fans simply don’t know what Ronaldo did last year? We’re that UK centric that we ignore football in other countries? Bit of an assumption …

A Newcastle without Ryan Fraser and Callum Wilson at that. Should indeed be a proper wallop, whichever midfield we put out.

Even PE teachers get things wrong.

That’s why we don’t talk about Ole, the rocket scientist.

Also Fred > Ronaldo at shot accuracy

Michael Cox again!

Honestly there has to be a story there. Did Ole run over his dog or something? Weird.

Ole's clearly talking offhand. How many times do managers use the expression '9 times out of 10 I trust him to do X.'

When Ole said that line in the press conference I just took it as him meaning, generally speaking, Ronaldo hits the target a lot. I didn't even think he was talking about what he was seeing in training. Just making a broad statement about Ronaldo being a reliable striker of the ball.

Next thing you know football's twitterati are bringing out the stats!:lol::lol:

This Michael Cox guy has a big problem with United. Tiresome.

Just type his name and United into Google. Ole is rubbish, United are useless. Covers any match we get beaten and won't say a word when we win. Just another ABU.
The classic one was him saying Roy Keane didn't play well against Juventus in '99. These pseudo intellectual football writers give me the shits.

Well ladies and gentlemen, observe how one poster can ruin a whole thread with a single post. A post which quotes an obvious miserable sod of an ABU.

It's very simple. From the beginning he has felt that Ole is not good enough and in his patronizing view Ole is lucky to manage United. Now that Ole has done better than he expected, he is doubling down on his opinion. And looks to put down Ole any chance he gets. He will randomly say credit to Ole, they played well yesterday. And then any chance he gets he is ready to criticize. Just another pundit full of himself. Similar to Daniel Storey.

And it's the same story with them regarding Arteta in the opposite direction.

I listen to them on the Totally Football Show podcast pretty much every week. James Richardson and some others are very good.

Are you suggesting the club doesn't fact check its tweets before posting them? That would be embarrassing
 the feck are you on about?

Ole said something in a press conference. The club's social media reported the quotes verbatim, as they're supposed to. It's a real quote, what's there to fact check?

Oh right. That must be it. I only listen to United pods so my only contact with this fella is his columns.

Sad when people can't be objective. Funnily enough, bashing Ole at every opportunity makes him less credible than just admitting Ole might be a better coach than he initially thought.

Exactly. But you see this all the time. People can't admit being wrong, and often double down. Shrugs.

Yeah exactly. His stats are usually bullshit too to make things look worse. Like the Ronaldo one today, he's probably including blocked shots, ones that hit woodwork etc. He's just a twat

Actually he can - I remember Fergie claiming RVP was nearly killed on the field. Were you ringing up the local hospitals to get the real story?

The worst is Jonathan Wilson at the Guardian. One article about how buying Cristiano was a bad idea and that he wouldn't make us better; the next day an article about how Ole has no excuses now that he has Cristiano at his disposal.

For what it's worth I don't think Mickson should have been thread banned. Providing a counter to the main narrative is fine. It was exaggeration but if those stats are correct, I do hope Ole recognizes that long shots by ronaldo/ free kicks etc are low percentage and should be treated as such for the most part.
