The most important difference is of course that Ronaldo is a much better player than Lukaku - and he scores goals against every team. Lukaku, lo and behold, didn’t score against Spurs as they are a semi-decent team. We all know he doesn’t score against them, and no, Arsenal isn’t such a team. If Chelsea played Belarus and Gibraltar every week I’d captain him in a jiffy.
Chelsea do have a run like Belarus and Gibraltar coming up soon!

So got

Sanchez (Foster)

Shaw Duffy Reguillon (Hoever Williams)

Jota Bruno Salah Gallagher Gray

Antonio Ronny (Dennis)

Thinking of using my 2FT's and doing Bruno & Reguillon to Greenwood and TAA. Then holding the Lukaku transfer until GW8 since the international break can be a pain in the arse. Will have another 2 FT's to avoid the -4 hit. Thoughts?
Not sure you want to be putting Greenwood in now.
I have him, and we have Villa and Everton homes next up, but he hasn't scored since Ronaldo has come in.

He really was just a stop gap as I'll probably take him out soon when I bring lukaku in. Maybe downgrade him to Raphinha

Keep Torres or Greenwood? One has to go to allow for Lukaku in for those fixtures. Will switch to Gray most likely.

So hard kick Greenwood out with Villa and Everton next but himself and Jota with brentford have been blanking and could easily be replaced by Sarr Raph and Gallagher and free up funds. Giving them the next GW and see. I don’t think I’ll switch to Ronaldo Lukaku 4.5 though. I still really like Toney Edouard and especially DCL and Antonio. Once DCL comes back I think I’ll be aiming for DCL ronaldo Antonio pretty much set and forget and keep tinkering with the midfield and get some Chelsea defence.

The more I look at the fixtures the more I think Ronaldo > Lukaku only really needs to happen for 3 games (9-11)

Ronaldo has Liverpool, Spurs and City those weeks whereas Lukaku has the 3 worst defences in the league (outside of Leeds) in Norwich, Newcastle and Burnley. You could leave the armband on him for those 3. That's the only patch I'm convinced he'll outscore Ronnie.

Yep, that's definitely when you need to have Lukaku.

The other point to consider though is that Lukaku is over 1 million cheaper than Ronaldo. So if you think the two will even get roughly same amount of points over a run of games, Lukaku is the better option.

With that in mind I'd be inclined to have him for GW7 & GW8 as well given he has better fixtures than Ronaldo there too (albeit not to the same extent as in GW9-11). That allows you to re-invest that 1m elsewhere with a minimum 5 GW block in mind. Whereas if I was just bringing in Lukaku for 3GWs then I'd be more reluctant to spread those funds, as I know I'd soon need them again to get Ronaldo back.

Then I think you play GW12-14 based on how they're looking as their fixtures are pretty even. It's GW15 when you need to have Ronaldo back.

Two points on that though:

1) Lukaku does have that sort of run of fixtures coming up where he can beat up on the smaller teams.

2) Last season in Serie A Ronaldo's returns skewed towards weaker teams even more than Lukaku's did. With us having a tough run of fixtures and also having set up conservatively in our big games last year, I wouldn't bank on this iteration of Ronaldo doing that much in our tougher fixtures either.

Fair points. I actually think form wise Brentford and Saints are better defensively than Everton and Leicester which is why I'd probably keep Ronaldo for those weeks and I think you're right to wait and see for 12-14. Gut says that Lukaku will be desperate to score against us though and they're at home as well.

I have no problem leaving the cash in the bank either as they're nowt much else to spend it on.

yeah those Norwich, Newcastle, and Burnley games could be a worthy to have Lukaku over ronaldo. Liverpool and city are tough but both are old Trafford game:mad:

Yeah I don’t even think I’m going to take Ronaldo out anymore. Just going to look to bring in Lukaku.

I'm thinking of maybe going a bit heavier at the back around that time. I want Rudiger for that Chelsea run of fixtures as well and I'd also quite like a City defender from GW8 on as they have the best defensive stats in the league so far so I could see them hitting quite a lot of clean sheets as they did last year. With Trent as well that's three premium-ish defenders soaking up the budget, so the extra 1m would help.

Sounds smart. I'm planning something similar.

Rolling this week, second Chelsea defender in 7. Downgrade one of Jota/Greenwood in 8 and bring in a City defender for Ayling/Williams the same week.

I did it. Amartey out, Alonso in.. I know City at the weekend but I needed to make a defensive change with two doubts in defence and no backup.

So now my defence options are TAA, Alonso, Ayling, Livramento, Duffy

Brought in Conor Gallagher for Canos. He looks good but not confident in any of these budget midfielders. Might have to think about wildcarding soon.

Worth mentioning Kane has a great run from GW 12-15 for those of you planning ahead. Depends though if he can be arshed
United’s fixtures turn for the better too I think around that time. Would much rather have Ronaldo than Kane.

All good points guys but the thought of going in a GW without Ronaldo right now is pretty terrifying.
Yeah, a lot of talk of fixtures but away at West Ham is about as difficult as you can get right now bar the traditional top 4. He scored and should have had a penalty too.

He is still the best striker in the league and could haul against anyone.

I have 1 free transfer this week before wildcarding. Should I go Toney to Rondon or Toney to Saint Maximin? Rondon will start and he's playing Norwich but not sure I trust Everton without DCL and Richarlison. Saint Maximin looks great but not so sure Newcastle are likely to score many against Watford.

Rondon will probably get points against Norwich. They are awful, but he also guarantees that you will need a transfer once DCL is back.

ASM looks like a threat against most teams because of his dribbling, so I would go for him long term.

This is for my draft. So price is not an issue. But there are no players left to pick.

I have Jimenez and then one forward spot because of DCL injury. So I can potentially pick 2.

The available players are
Jesus (too much rotation),
ASM (looks like best of the lot)
Firmino (comeing back form injury/rotation risk/Jota is doing well)
Toney (Had him before and threw him out)
Pukki/Dennis
Ings (us and Spurs next)

ASM and Dennis would be my picks based on form and fixtures. But yeah all those are risky.

Some people just prefer to have balance than just playing all 4-5 heavy weights while fill the rest with scrap. I honestly can’t think a way to fit Lukaku and ronaldo together in my team without making big sacrifice. Given there are 7.5-8.0 strikers who can still score goals, that’s also another factor.

Lost 0.1 on Ings even though I planned to move him out this week. Still don’t know who I want, so just buying time! Difficult to know whether to move all the way down to Dennis and to invest in midfield and defence. I’d like Toney, but those fixtures are tough.

You don't have to fill the rest with scrap. Tried yesterday and had a pretty decent draft with these

TAA
Dias
Rudiger
Salah
Ronaldo
Lukaku

Doesn’t Villas fixtures turn after week 7? Not sure why you held onto Ings for this long but if you did you might as well keep him since they have a run of 6 games coming up and they are going up against defenses that aren’t particularly strong.

Yesterday is different to next week and next following and the next following week. I had seen people below me play them all. On contrary, the people on top 3 don’t have both Lukaku and Ronaldo or every heavy weight.
