Him no longer being a Utd player doesn't change the fact I expect him to start tomorrow, Ronaldo on the bench

It’s been a good enough weekend to get me believing he can pop up with the cake’s cherry today.

While he clearly wasn’t United quality I feel there’s a very effective player in him. Really hope he does well (and believe he will) today and beyond. But especially today.

Even though he was never good enough for Utd, he is absolutely perfect for Leeds and their style of football. I wish him all the success there. Seems like a great honest lad.

He was with the Wales squad when the transfer was completed and only joined Leeds training for the first time on Thursday. I don’t think he was ever likely to start today but hopefully a 30 minute cameo in the second half and crossing my fingers for a debut goal.
A sensible post! What’s going on.

Harrison and Raphinha are better players than him. It's kinda strange that Leeds paid that money for a player that is not really a clear starter for them.

He is perfect fit for their system, though.

The consensus seems to be that Raphina is going to be moved into a number 10 role which is his preferred position and that will allow James and Harrison to fill the wide roles.

Still better than lingard.
Lingard scored the winner in an FA cup final, scored against the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal and has been a better life long servant to this club than Daniel James who's time at united will soon be forgotten

Congrats Dan, cool story to look back on, jumping straight on a helicopter after the baby arrives. My head was shot after each of my kids births (it takes it out of you all the stress) - surprised he played straight after tbh.

I'm just amazed there are people who think Harrison is better than James. I don't think Bielsa agrees at any rate.

Hardly an outlandish or controversial opinion. Harrison got 8 goals and 8 assists last season and was pretty impressive overall. Let's see if James can have that kind of impact.

I have it on good authority that Harrison wants to leave Leeds in the next few windows, so I can see James taking his spot on the left in the future.

James got 5 goals and didn't really play all that much. Plus aside from technical stuff I think he's clearly better - faster, better workrate, stamina, good fitness record. Admittedly technical stuff is quite important for a winger.

Teams will play Leeds high up the pitch so if Bielsa can teach him to use his pace properly he should have acres of space to run into every game. I think he'll have a good career lower down the PL, he's clearly better in every way other than being a giant than somebody like Traore.

You made out like it would be outrageous to rate Harrison higher, which is ridiculous. Harrison is technically far better than James and works his bollox off too, otherwise he would be nowhere near a Bielsa side. Harrison was Leeds second top goalscorer and assister (not a word!) last season. James has a long way to go to prove he'll be as successful at Leeds.

Harrison has started the season fairly poor, but let's not forget he was getting rave reviews last season and was tipped for an England call up. Maybe James will prove to be the better player in time, but right now, it's totally open to debate.

Tipped for an England call up! feck off! Southgate is a shit coach but not that shit

And yes, I do think it's a bit outrageous that people think Bielsa spent £30m on a backup winger.

Weird that Leeds are praising him for playing right after his child was born saying “side before self”.

First of all, he didn’t give birth, second of all, any other job and everyone would be saying “toxic workplace”.

Well he was tipped for one, but it's par for the course when any English player plays well. Likely just the usual pundit talk, but grabbing a combined 16 goals and assists for Leeds in the PL last season was pretty impressive.

You didn't say that though, you made out that it was outrageous to suggest people who rate Harrison higher, are somehow a-bit mental. Frankly, that's bollox. Let's see if James can be as influencial as Harrison was last season. I'm taking it you didnt watch much of him? If you did, you would see he's a good, tidy player. Maybe there's some recency bias here due to his poor start to the season.

Maybe you're overeating James too? I haven't seen anything in him to make me think he's going to be a huge success at Leeds. I guess time will tell. And no, Bielsa obviously bought him because he's likely planning on playing Harrison more centrally, a role in which he has played before at times.
