I'm glad he said it. Absolutely tonight was papering over cracks as much as we enjoyed it.
Rio was getting carried away.

Bit surprised he went in mind.

Is he actually the only ex-United player pundit that has the balls to criticize Ole? Finally! Absolutely spot on on everything.

100%.
Finally an opinion on TV not suffering from result bias.

He knows Ole will keep doing this. Rare job saving results but ultimately we're not good enough to compete against the very best.
I know and it's a worrying cycle to be trapped in when you have owners with zero ambition and bare minimum expectations. Arsenal in the final years of Wenger basically.

I agree with Scholes tonight, I know he will stop at asking for Ole's head, but rightly so criticized that awful 1st half performance.

Scholes absolutely bang on tonight
Exactly. It was a great comeback win but if we we defend like we did in the 1st half on Sunday we will just get steamrolled against a team that is scoring for fun just now.

I’m glad he’s not getting carried away like Rio did.

Weird how it came about, he didn't go in at half time as much as he should have then was miserable as feck later on.

He makes some good points tbf. That formation looks ridiculous in these clips. I mean obviously we won't set up like that against Liverpool but why are we even in this situation? Where is the link between midfield and attack? Is Bruno being indulged too much? I don't know. I just think you see Pep and Tuchel line up often without even a conventional striker in the team and they still blow teams away. It's too disjointed.

Yup. Could be years of not winning anything if this cycle keeps going.

He is a bit redundant in the way he is going on and on about the first half with nothing positive, constructive to say. As opposed to Rio.

Needs to give it a bit of a rest, save this demeanour for if we'd lost 2-0 and not had any chances.

We had as many chances tonight as we've had in the last 7 or 8 and had a season highlight comeback.

Substance of what he’s saying is spot on really but should have enjoyed moment and expressed it later. Medium and Long term it’s meaningless in terms of moving forward with Ole but winning tonight was all that matters.

He actually said at halftime we would win.

Hes bang on though overall, but I duno how you can't be ecstatic at that come back.

I think every fan is fecking sick of hearing about the "positives" now. I want to see a team that actually knows how to play football. Scholes is absolutely right. This game wasn't an one-off. This has been the entirety of Ole's tenure here. Plucky underdogs, happy with the win, more passion, take the positives, he he. No, how about we beat a team 4-0 and knock them off the park for once? That'd be a sight to see.

Someone's really got his goat tonight. Even the clip they played showed his central point was wrong, cos it showed the front 4 dropping in to cover once we lost the ball. Something they did repeatedly.

Will we play that way against Liverpool? Of course not. Everyone knows Ole changes his approach for the big matches. That's why he has the most wins against Pep than any manager in the Premier League. Think Scholesy maybe needs a day off.

It's built on a foundation of shite that will crumble in the near future
It’s built on us suddenly playing 4-2-4 in a big game under Ole which is ridiculous if you’ve even glanced at those games in the past.
He might as well have said play 4-8-11 for all the probability of it happening but it was 20 mins of Scholes just repeating 1 line over and over

He might need to take a step back after tonight. Nobody is saying we’re back and will steamroll Liverpool, just enjoy a win and stop trying to be psychic about Sunday.
Whats wrong with him telling the truth? Wins like today are amazing moments but he’s a winner and he knows the bread and butter of any title winning side are those controlled sometimes boring 1 and 2 nil wins. These are great to have in between but are not a sign of real progress, if we’re trying to compete with the scousers and city.

There was one key question asked to Scholes...is there anything positive to take from that 2nd half going into the Liverpool game?

Answer...No

Scholes seems like he has made his mind up on Ole and would rather we take action. Speaking positively of the result will only influence the reverse of that.

It seemed like an agenda based response in this regards. Almost intentionally avoiding talking about the obvious positives.

Rio spoke logically, fairly and with reasonable balance and without agenda.

As a whole I'd say that makes for great balance to the BT commentating.

Do you expect Ole to play 4-2-4 against Liverpool Sunday? Because that’s literally all he said for 20 minutes. There’s no truth over something that hasn’t happened!
Atalanta had their entire defence out, that’s why we went all out and Ole was right to do so. We won’t do that on Sunday because they don’t have the same defensive troubles but Paul couldn’t connect the dots. I think Ole accepted a shoot out tonight

Pretty much. Most people here are just agreeing with him. They'll just as easily turn on him the next time he says something different.
A.K.A "People are just agreeing with him because he's saying something they agree with. If he says something they disagree with then they'll disagree with him." In other breaking news, water is wet.

No, they'll accuse him of nepotism. People are fickle.

Spent the last 30 minutes running laps around my house, but with a cool head on - he's absolutely right. It really is worrying that we put in a first half performance like that after getting demolished by Leicester at the weekend. To his point, Klopp would definitely have been rubbing his hands together looking at our last few games, probably even more so after this one.

I can appreciate what he is saying but he should be enjoying the moment.

He is right, we have to improve… a lot.
Why should he? Even if he was just a fan - there is no "correct" way to be a fan. I know that many fans prefer to just purely enjoy the win/comeback and not think about fundamental problems of the team in this moment of joy. It is completely fine and I can understand that, nothing wrong with it. But for some of them (and I include myself here), the joy of a comeback us dampened if a team is not in a fundamentally good state. I just cannot enjoy it the way I enjoyed comebacks under Fergie, where I knew that we are in a good place, win most of matches comfortably and by making a comeback avoid a "one of those days", and there will be good things in front of us. At the moment unfortunately despite the comeback I expect lots of disappointments ahead for us United fans, largely due to manager being not good enough. Scholes as a fan is also in the same category I guess. And I think it there is nothing wrong with that either.

Moreover, since Scholes is not only fan, but also a pundit - "enjoying the moment" does not bring much informational/analytical value to the viewers :) His job is not to make Manchester United fans feel better, so if he thinks that concerns need to be brought up - he has full right to do so.
