Not sure I make out what the other guy was saying , I think he first said you are club legend but did he then call Keane a Prick, which brought the you have had a few pints response from Keane , am I picking that up right?
Sounds it, but its hard to make out as the other guy does seem to be slurring his words.

Roy Keane is employed by Sky Sports to perform as Sky Sports wants him to. It's all a bit pantomime. And it appeals directly to the sky Sports demographic who worshiped such footballers 25 years ago in the 90s. It's all a good watch but nothing more than that.

And remember who Sky have in the studio for these games - an ex self-proclaimed hardman midfielder who had a great career because he was surrounded by a team full of the best players of his era. Then he went on to a managerial career that was a failure and that's why he is sitting in a studio getting all riled up as it looks good for a Youtube video. Actually there's two of them. So that says everything. All Keane talks about is character and all Souness talks about is back in my day. Yawn.

There are some clowns who think Keane was just a hard man. It’s utter nonsense but part of the fault for that is how Keane talks about himself and the game. Yesterday it was “when I was playing bad I’d smash someone”. He very rarely had a bad game so why come out with stuff like that?
I don't know if he plays up to his image for the cameras or if he just has a primitive view of the game that makes him undervalue his own talent but when he talks, he's like a caricature of himself. He basically said the players needed to get a yellow to "get the crowd going" against City. Nothing about the defending, poor counter-attacking or inability to get possession. Just "smash someone". Pundits in the 90's weren't that thick.

He's entertaining as a pundit but he's talking himself out of a job as manager by exposing how backwards his thinking is. Can you imagine Pep telling De Bruyne to "smash someone"?

It’s ok to critique the mans comments on Sky or wherever but to diminish his abilities as a player makes you sound foolish.

If the autograph guy is selling signed shirts why isnt Keane having a go at him
Everyone’s quick to assume the guy getting the autograph has a bag full of shirts to sell.
Perhaps he’s just collected his bag from the bag drop at old Trafford to travel home after the game.
Keane rarely signs autographs so fair play to the guy for convincing him to sign a shirt.

Give over. They were both great players, not just self confessed hardmen. Management wise they weren't great. But not many are. Yes they are employed by sky to do a job and they do it based off their views and standards.

Would you rather they had more guys like Micah Richards? Who've never won anything and offer nothing more than raucous laughter and a wierdly straight hairline across his forehead.
Eh bruh what’s wrong with his line up tho?! It’s actually fresh as hell

I think he'd tell him to stop a counter attack but Keane was demanding the players just foul someone. No plan or sense behind it. Just smack a guy.
You've clearly never played football in a proper team.

Agree with most of what you say but Richards has improved significantly in recent times. He has cut back the laughing and is far more serious now as well. I remember Carragher saying on Neville's Overlap show that someone had given him a little advice on his punditry about not just being known as 'that guy' and that he took this onboard in order to improve himself. I wonder if maybe the same happened to Micah.

That's exactly what Keane was calling for. Do you really think Pep or Klopp tell their players to smash into someone and get a yellow to get the crowd going? Or do they tell them to work hard and press the ball?

Amen.Keane cared about the result, the performance. It showed.
It doesn’t show with most of our current players, Ronaldo & Cavani excepted.
Bruno?

The idea that we've somehow got a bunch of players who don't care while other clubs have all the hard working players is silly. Especially given that all of our players have either been successful elsewhere or have been successful here in the past.

I thought the irish guy called him a legend and the other guy just seemed to be picking on him.

Was he slagging him off for not signing autographs while he was actually signing an autograph?

Roy hasn't managed in over a decade I think he knows his managerial career is already over.

Also DeBruyne no, Fernandinho yes.

Players shouldn’t need a coach to tell them to do that. Your keanes, scholes, Ronaldos, rooneys, cantonas that have that fiery drive/passion and detest losing just go out and do it because they’re so pissed off at how the game is going. I was yelling at the tv to do the same.

Maybe Keane and I share the same outdated caveman view of the game. But it was so pathetic getting toyed around like a warmup training session. No one except DDG and Ronaldo showed they cared. Go in hard on a tackle or show that you have some fight ffs even if you get carded in an already lost game.

I just don't see how getting yourself sent off would make a difference. Imo, we were toyed with because Ole made us set up defensively to keep the score down. Not because the players were weak.

 Do you think Fernandino was never told to go into tackles hard by Guardiola? Or that Kompany was only told "work hard and press the ball!" fecking hell man!

It would make no difference to the result. It’s about the perception to the team and fans showing that you care as much as we do. Obviously us fans are deluded since for 90% of footballers it’s just a job. But there’s a reason why fans still love, and feel they can relate to, ex-players like cantona, rooney, evra, rafael da silva, Cr7, roy keane. When they’re on the pitch win or lose they play like they love the club as much as we do. I absolutely think our current players are mentally weak and fragile. It’s been a problem for years now.

I’ve lost plenty of casual pickup games at the park. But when you start getting humiliated 5-0 and the opponents do little showboating and tiki-taka, there comes a limit and i get pissed and start kicking out and tackling hard. It’s about personal pride. If anything, it might get a reaction out of the opponents, your own team, and the fans. I’d much rather watch both teams at each other’s faces pushing and shoving than watching our players jog around aimlessly for the last 20 minutes chasing shadows.

Have you ever seen videos of Maradona or Messi getting kicked off the ball by opposition players? It has nothing to do with tactics, its about making it difficult for players that are clearly a lot more capable than you. If its going to be so easy for them to outplay you make them fear your tackles by putting them under pressure. Thats the school of get stuck in. Every manager out there will tell his players to get stuck in and fight for the badge when they're being outplayed, even Guardiola. It's football 101.

How often did Fernandinho or Kompany just smash someone and get red carded for no reason?

If it makes no difference to the result then I'm not sure it's much use. Players should be smart and pragmatic and not just act on pride.

I'm fine with committed tackling when there's a point to it but Keane was saying just smash someone. No thought or purpose. It was like he thought injuring someone makes up for a defeat.

No he wasn't, if you're hearing thay and thinking he just run over to someone and tackle them for no reason you're way off. He's talking about getting stuck in with a tackle.

That's what I think he was saying.

He clearly wasn't or he would be defending Pogba against Liverpool

He is saying he wants a player to make a challenge and get the crowd up and the team up.

People who obviously either have an agenda or who have never seen him play insist on this narrative he is a caveman with a caveman's mentality

Are we talking about the same guy who said he'd be throwing punches at DDG for a mistake? His entire mantra now is just be tough. Whenever United lose, his advice is to just be tougher. He certainly talks like he has a caveman mentality.

Roy Keane talks about character because without character you are nothing.

Name me a great player that doesn't have character who doesn't have that extra mentality to do and go that extra mile to get the job done?

Too many United players are bland and go hiding behind others when the chips are down which drives him mad.
