What happens if a new permanent manager comes in, Carrick and McKenna stay on as coaches, and we continue to serve up the garbage we saw under Ole? I hope those two are not contingent on whoever becomes manager.
I’m sure the new man will get to choose his own staff. Carrick and McKenna have only survived for now because they need someone to manage in the interim.

Yeah, he can stay with Ajax because that isn't happening. These things make me wonder if he is serious about the job. Would he make the same request with Barca or for any other big club ?
He didn't make those demands nor he would atleast read the article .

Pochettino is a yes man which appeals to the owners. It wont appeal to fans.
Ole was a yes man but got away with it because of his legendary status. Same with Fergie. Poch wont last a season, there will be protests.
I hate this narrative. What evidence do you have that Ole was a 'yes man' and what evidence do you have that Pochettino is a 'yes man'. The truth is, absolutely zero. It's just something people say with entirely no evidence to support it. that then gets repeated.

It annoys me because some fans seem to be of this opinion that Jose was sacked because he challenged the Board. The reality is, Jose was sacked because his results were poor and the players stopped playing for him.

And...even if you DO believe Ole was somehow wrong not to be constantly criticising the Board, the club, the owners...you can't argue it wasn't effective, since Ole was backed every Summer. Sometimes 'managing up' is a crucial part of being a senior managing. Managing the management is crucial to be able to execute your vision. You don't achieve that by behaving like a spoilt child or angry teenager.

Fair play to those holding onto the ETH dream. It’s going to be Poch. We’ll go for ETH next most likely (assuming he’s not gone to city)

If we can get Poch now then we should probably do that.

Ten Hag is my number one choice but if Poch will leave PSG for us and Ten Hag won't leave Ajax then maybe Poch is the man.

Finding a caretaker to save our season would be tough

There's no point in arguing about Ten Hag vs Poch in terms of success as neither have won a major trophy in a top league, for me it's about how they approach football, Ten Hag is a front foot, pressing and possession based manager who looks to be the agressor in every game, Poch plays a middle of the road brand of football that reverts to reactive chicken shit football against good teams.
can we play that game though with our current squad. Ronaldo doesn't press, our midfield isn't comfortable in possession. It might be why these managers would prefer to come in next season, so they can add a couple of players to more suit their preferred style of play

That “demand” hasn’t come from Ten Hag at all. It’s just come from a Dutch TV show where one of the pundits said Ten Hag should only go to United if he has allies in the positions above him like Overmars and VDS.

The man himself has not really said anything and does not seem to be briefing anything either at this stage.

Bit like how Klopp wasn't serious when he met with Woodward and likened the club to Disneyland?

Thank God we dodged that bullet.
Klopp never said to replace Woodward by taking anyone from Dortmund.

Let's be realistic here- do you really think you can demand something like this? We all want that Incompetent group to be replaced but if someone says I can only come if you take VDS and Overmars (who is a legend to our rival btw) ,it does mean you aren't serious now.

He can feck right off.

Xavi came back to Barca and sacked their sporting director (effectively). It's not like any of the clowns in charge of the club at the moment have any good will left based on their track record.

I understand, this is assuming he has said that.

Ten Hag is the most exciting prospect but if Poch is available now, let's get it done.
My view 100%. Ten Hag has an upside potentially as high as Pep, but we need to get someone in now. If ETH wants it, he needs to make it clear (at least privately) that he will move now.

There's a bit of a catch 22 for these people that don't want Poch because he's never won anything. If he leaves to be our manager then he still won't have won anything, but if he stays at PSG then he will fulfill their criteria of being a winner, but won't be our manager.

Surprise - Xavi a legend at Barca , has did something for his beloved club. One more Surprise, Ole a legend at United has done something good at United too.

See the difference?

Of the two popular options I think trust Poch more in the situation we have now. Ten Hag is definitely someone we should be following closely though and courting him in the same way City did with Pep if he carries on with this trajectory.

Ofcourse and I did say that it's assuming he said that.

I want him now with no conditions except for the signings. This is his chance. If you miss it, Poch should get it.

The fact that Ten Hag is a viable option, even after a wait, breaks my heart knowing that we'll appoint Poch in a rush. The guy is an elite tactician who will end up winning big trophies at a top European club. I'd rather wait and get the absolute best than appoint a manager with several big question marks around him just because he's available now.

That needs to be made clear to him. Our club is too nice.

Yeah, pretty much. I think he'd work wonders with this squad.

I won a game of nods and volleys at the park once. Can I be United manager?
Pointless reply, you said he hadn’t won anything but a simple google check would tell you he had.

Winning the french league with Messi Neymar and Mbappe counts for absolutely feck all. A monkey could pick their team every week with a bingo machine and still walk the league.

Getting Poch would be ideal.

I'm not convinced by Zidane as United manger and Conte would have had a mental breakdown after 1 week spent working for the Glazers

The good thing about Pochettino is that he fits with my 2023 Rose/Marsch/Seoane campaign.

Poch has shown his hand. Ten Hag has to do the same if he wants it. The concern and the reason I think we won't get him is how he has worked so closely with Overmars and Edwin. The club is showing no signs of willingness to deviate from the current structure, that might be a deal breaker for him, and us.

Give peas a chance.
Poch supposedly wanting to leave now massively strengthens our bargaining power. If we do fancy ten Hag over him, then we're in a position to tell him "Well there's this other chap we're pretty keen on who's made himself available now... you'll have to force a move or miss out."

The way that Pochettino is seemingly briefing the press about his desire to take over immediately suggests that he knows he'll not be first choice come the summer. Unless we can get a seriously competent interim in and wait for Ten Hag then I think it's going to be Poch.

If there is a chance to get Ten Hag in the summer we should just get Bruce in to get people in the mood for good football before he would come.

Poch has PL experience, and if he's available right now then we should get him. The reports that he's willing to ditch PSG for us only strengthens the case that he's the man for the job in my view. I don't want someone that will take it or leave it (for ETH, of course it could be the case of loyalty and bad timing, these things happen). I'm more thinking of Zidane on this one.

Poch isn't everyone's favourite, but he got Spurs playing a level of football that we've not seen at OT in a long time. If he's backed with the resources to go with this current team, I think he can take us really, really far.
