My name's not Len but at this very moment in time, my optimism is gonna get a 10.
Based on Rangnick's CV married to our more than decent squad I am really excited for the future, more so for the long term but also for this season.
But if I put my feelings aside for a sec (sorry, I think I've been hypnotised by Ralf's presser), I should be going for 7/8 due to having doubts about how quickly our players will be able to translate Ralf's coaching onto the pitch. Just a case of when, more than if but I hope the fans will keep the faith with Ralf if things don't go according to plan initially.
As pointed out earlier by
@MrBest the scale is very subjective, as for me, personally my 10 is , hoping to see the team and individuals evolve/progress from this recent state of stagnation and to begin to play good football on an increasingly consistent basis and for us to start dominating games again (boy do I miss that old United swagger, when we truly believed the words as "We are the pride of all europe...The Cock of the north..." boomed around Old Trafford, while the team would torture the opposition) or at the very least stop getting dominated, especially when facing lesser talented teams.
...Or as our new coach puts it "gain control of games".
So I'm just hoping for a properly coached team playing some decent stuff first then expecting (champions league qualification) trophies and titles to follow (see Klopp and the dippers) as opposed to expecting top 4/silverware whilst hoping for entertaining football.
Saying all that, we win later on today and we're 3 points off 4th. Lets just take it game by game, baby!
Over to you Ralf.
