Rashford and Ronaldo in pair is never going to work. Actually think Martial would look far better playing off Ronaldo as he's able to play those one-two's and better at keeping the ball at his feet.
Mason can do that and more

Does anyone think our attack is suffering also because of the new system and players getting used to it? Also doesn't help Marcus and Bruno being out of form.
For sure. Ralf won't like what he's seen this half. The intensity isn't there. Norwich is finding it too easy go play through us and we aren't moving the ball fast enough. That'll come with time. It will be a frustrating couple of months. We've just got to accept that.

    Same old problems.

    Shite passing and touches
Rashford running into a crowd of 5 players
Players not on the same wavelength
No idea how to create chances against a low block

at some of the comments in here. An impatient bunch.

The first order of business for RR was always going to be solidifying the side. We were conceding way too many chances. I always laughed at the idea that he’d have our group of individuals playing swashbuckling football in a matter of days. It will take time and I think this period will be about grinding out results more than anything.

Unbelievable. I was half way through typing a post about can someone tell those rabid fans that the ball hasn't had to be "in" the quadrant for years, then the ref actually stops a game to check!!
never seen a set of fans furiously pointing at the quadrant like this lot do every time

Rashford is literally the only player showing any intent to stretch the defence. Bruno, Sancho, and Ronaldo all keeping come short to the ball and deep. By all means propose taking Rashford off, but as against Watford, who do you then see doing the honest running off the ball?
I don't dispute what you say but Rasfords stretching of the opposition is creating nothing because his final ball is always awful or he simply runs down a blind alley and loses the ball. Greenwood would do a better job.

The obvious answer is to make changes at half term. But, I think the better answer is that the players need to be working much, much harder. It's very lazy, laidback, almost entitled at times. Like we've strolled in and turned up expecting to be given an easy three points. The work ethic isn't good enough. Along with that, the decision making is poor. At times, there's little movement off the ball, and you've got players just lumping it forward rather than looking to get a few quick passes together. The accuracy of our passing (long and short) is poor. Alongside that, we're not really moving quickly enough when we have the ball, we're not really going past players, and we're not working the Norwich defence hard enough.

In short, Norwich would absolutely take this result. We need to be making it so much harder for them. Feels like we're still in that mindset of reacting rather than being proactive or creative.

Dean Smith is no mug and he's got his players drilled on beating any press by switching play then building attacks from the opposite side.

I'm pretty sure we will have clocked on to this though and expect better second half. We could be two goals up to be honest but the performance hasn't been great. Not enough intensity from Ronaldo and Rashford at that end of the pitch.

Fred, Mctominay and Sancho have been good though, especially Mctominay as he's got his head up and played quick, sharp, forward passes.

Bruno is the man we want to play that final ball and unfortunately he's not been on it today so far.

Rashford needs to go away and find out if he even likes football anymore. He has looked miserable on the pitch for ages now.

Frustrating to watch. Utd have not been clinical enough with the final pass.

True, it's just confusing how we haven't really tried to press at all given that that is Ralf's thing and we already showed we can do it last game. It's been so slow

We started off slowly, but gained sharpness as the match went on. Much more control on the game towards the last 10 minutes. We were rushing our final ball with Bruno and Rashford being particularly poor. There were a couple of occasions where Norwich players went past our midfielders like they weren't there. Apart from that, we did well to minimize the opposition threat. Not the greatest half of football, but we are still a work in progress and there are enough encouraging signs on the pitch to be optimistic about.

midfield has been fine but everything breaks down once it reaches ronaldo/rashford/fernandes.

They’re all trying to play in front of the defence in tight areas and it just doesn’t come off.

i’d like to see rashford go wide left and have bruno in the middle

Bruno seems to moan at others when their performances are poor but needs to have a good hard look at his own which isn’t any different.

He was clean through on goal at one point with a great run down the centre, a situation we have seen him score from multiple times this season, and both Sancho and Ronaldo completely fecked their simple passes.

He's been terrible but I don't think we're desperate for half time changes. Would give it another 10 and then have a look.

Either way, he's not another clueless coward of a manager is he?
He is if he continues to play board favourites every week based on name rather than ability and form. Thus far I see he's doing that with Rashford and Maguire. Although Maguires been ok for the past 2 games so I can't complain too much on that.

When the players have had zero level of top level coaching for 3 yrs, it really shows in how we pass and play the ball. Simply terrible at the top level, its all well wanting to press to get the ball but no use if you practically hand it back!

Yeah good point, it’s hard as a fan though isn’t it in defence of the inpatient lot. When you watch united you want to at least see us go away to the worst side in the league and create chances.

I do agree though but it’s fair to have some criticism.

    It's possible.

However our attacking play has been shite all season, it's not like this is a new thing. We were midtable most the season for xG.

Failing to create any chances against a low block is a never ending story dating back several managers.

I never feel confident that United, post SAF, know WTF they're doing, even when they bring in people who supposedly know WTF they're doing.

Our opponent today is Norwich. If we have to grind a result against Norwich we’re in serious trouble. But that might be the obvious conclusion: we’re in serious trouble.
