We gave up on the season when we didn't sack Ole after Liverpool, then watched Conte go to Spurs. We'll be playing Europa next season
Absolute truth, when the club bottled the decision then that was it for the season and you get the sense that this CL campaign could be our last for a long time if Newcastle survive. We allowed Spurs to get the best manager around and they could overtake us this season then in a couple of years Newcastle will be claiming the last CL spot. All for what? Murtough said it was out of respect to Ole but was it really worth sacrificing the whole season over?

Ralf talks a good game but a magician he is not, one would suspect that the interim nature of his role has made it difficult for him to attract the best coaches he has worked with and he is scrapping the bottom of the barrel with his appointments. It's a mess all round because you don't bring in a guy with an alien style of play mid-season and in an interim role.

Big transfer window coming up. He needs to bring in a midfielder if we stand any chance of making top 4.

Apparently he needs to teach his players how to pass in a straight line.

Another back to basics after previous back to basics.

Well we’ve really screwed the manager bounce on this one haven’t we, that first 30mins against Palace looked really promising but since then we’ve been the usual car crash.

it doesn’t matter what formation or tactics he’s going to try and implement if we can’t string simple passes together.

He hasn't even had a full month ffs! All the cancelled trainings, missed games due Covid etc. Calm down Doomers.
Yeah none of that matters according to most. I dont really remember if he has had any consistent time coaching these chickens.

I really want to see Ralf make some serious changes. He can call whatever formation he wants, but if he keeps picking the same midfield we are going nowhere. Please ditch the 4-2-2-2 and go to a 4-3-3. And in that 4-3-3 none of the existing midfielders should be involved.

Well, on the plus side the performances and results are that underwhelming currently that at least the club are unlikely to shit the bed and give him a 3 year contract any time soon. Which means we should actually stick to the mission and take our time to get the right man in the summer.

What I don’t get is how come we looked a completely different team in his first game against palace where we were well drilled, pressing like mad men and constantly winning the ball back in the oppo half. Now a few games in we’ve reverted back to old ways of looking absolutely clueless and the pressing is non existent, bizarre to say the least.

The right man in the summer will need to be given 7-8 new players for a seriously brutal cultural change. This squad is rotten

In all seriousness, I have no issue with an interim manager trying to lay the foundations to a style of play that another coach will ultimately take over in the summer, with a bunch of players that have been told to “puff out their chest and play for the shirt” for 3 solid years.

I do have a slight issue with a bunch of coaches coming in from the MLS however…

Not his fault just like it wasn't any of the previous managers. The club is broken and that's it. It needs to be teared down and rebuilt from the bottom but because of the owners it won't. We are done as a top team for a long long time. There is simply a rot that infects everything. Hell look at how amazing Bruno was and look at him now that he has been properly integrated.

All we can do now is support the club through this and hopefully in our life times we see success again.

Signing Ronaldo back over addressing our problem areas exemplifies this club.

Anyway I've seen more success than almost anyone ever will so let's be reasonable and keep on supporting. Hopefully it'll be sorted sooner than hoped or else it never will, either way let's go United!!!

You don't get a consistency in pressing in 2 weeks. Perhaps we will see a much better performance at home on Thursday.

Can’t wait until Ten Hag the chosen one has some similar results and performances next season.
It's going to be the same, you're right. I wanted Ten Hag, but I'm starting we blew it with Conte, he suits this club a lot more.

He could be here 10 years. He ain't getting this squad anywhere near the top. He needs 8-9 first team players.

If we're looking for positives we can't get much worse. Some of these players need a rocket. I think he'll get it right but some of these imposters will need moved on

Played off the park by Norwich and Newcastle.

Haven't seen one bit of improvement.

Disappointing performance today. Only his 4th game in charge here, so I'm not going to be overly critical.

But, lack of shape near the end was appalling. I have no idea what he was trying to do. We need to string few wins in the coming week.

Rangnick has had 10 good minutes so far. We're no better off since Ole left.

It's a completely different way of playing football that Rangnick has introduced. It's going to take a very long time to get his thoughts implemented in the team. There will be many games like this before we can see if Rangrick's tactics can be a success or not

Maybe he does today, but we hired Rangnick to transform the team and the structure to something that would suit a Ten Hag in the future. It ain’t going to be pretty to get there however, people need to buckle up and show some resolve for a season or two.

He’s hardly had any time with them so far, let’s see how it goes in a couple of weeks. They didn’t train for 10-14 days and I’m guessing they weren’t all hanging out together when they had Covid.
I'm not Ralf out or anything and I do realise he needs time. But persisting with Bruno/Ronaldo is not going to work, it hasn't worked the whole season and it won't. If he wants the 'control' he claims he wants those 2 are the most anti control players we have at the club and need to be dropped.

Editing my own posts.
None of his ideas will work with this current set of shitty players
Which is why it’s so odd that he keeps playing the same set of shitty players… we’re still starting McFred, still playing Rashford on the right, still refusing to sub him no matter how shit he is, still relying on the same basic Cavani/Sancho/Matic subs when it doesn’t work…the only thing he’s notably changed so far is starting our technically worse fullbacks instead…

It’s still very early, but I was expecting a bit more ingenuity than this. Or at least a basic avoidance of the really obviously shit stuff…

Benching Shaw and Bissaka it's always a good idea

For the rest the tactic is too complicated for the simple players mind

Can't blame him, the players are always on holiday in Dubai, or training at home or with the national football team, or injuried/unfit

The negative comments are something else. Did you guys seriously expect a title challenging , high pressing high metal game today ? Seriously?

No matter whom we employ, we will start calling for their head from the second day.

I totally agree, hopefully today was an eye opener. We’re in that awful patch where a new manager has to give everyone a “second chance” even though most don’t deserve it.

That combo hasn’t worked for Portugal either, and they’re sick of it

I previously thought our squad was quite good. Technically they’re all of a pretty good level and no issues on that side, but application, psychological side, football intelligence and teamwork side of things seem irreparably bad. I hate the fact we seem to have another rebuild on its way, but the more I watch us the more im inclined to agree.

Nailed on, as always. It's almost like he hasn't been watching the games and doesn't even watch the games back. The team he had out, Ole could have picked, which is worrying for me.
